I agree but could you make a left handed video and put on your channel as been trying for a week and can't mirror it as tablet doesn't do it your video is good also could you show when you turn on each end

Thank you for your feedback. Yes I would definitely consider working on left handed videos. I have other planned pooling video tutorials maybe those might show you a different angle perhaps? Let me know x

Marly bird tutorials do not work for me at all! She is way too wordy for my brain. She takes 10 sentences to say what could be said in one or two.

In order to figure out how to do this for any type of variegated yarn find out your count for one repetition of your color pattern. Choose your desired number of repetitions for the width of your project. For a plaid result you need to have your row add one or minus one stitch from that repetition total. For argyle you need to have an ODD number of stitches in your stitch total and then number of repetitions plus approximately 50% of your stitch count for a repetition (so for 17, a multiple plus 8 or 9). If you try it with an even number, repetitions plus 50% will also give you plaid, not argyle.

Thank you for sharing the website! None of the other tutorials I've seen have shared it. I still struggle with the stitches though because I use a SC, Ch1, repeat, and it isn't pooling correctly. Other videos have used that stitch (vs your HDC) and it works. Does the ch1 count as a stitch also? I think yes but then the pattern wasn't working on the website. I suppose more playing around with it, and I might get it.
@TheKnottyLace
@TheKnottyLace Жыл бұрын
Hi Amanda, the ch1 does not count as a stitch maybe that could be the issue.. you could also try Sc or Dc and see which works better. Also try diff hook sizes might help.. the most important thing is to maintain ur tension. Hope that helps :)

Wow! You’re using Red Heart Icelandic! That and Wildflowers are my favorite variegated yarns! I didn’t know you could use it in Planned Pooling. I have enough for a cardigan now!, Thanks for the video. It looks much easier than I thought. I think you made it look easier. Another video I saw made my brain ache. It felt like calculus or something (not that I know what calculus feels like)!!

It doesn't need to be multiples of 59. Decide how wide you want it and guestimate how many chains you need making sure that you end at the color change on your hook. Put your numbers in the planned pooling chart and manipulate for the pattern you want.

This technique is very compelling. But, if one crochets with a very even tension, shouldn't it fall into pattern effortlessly???
@TheKnottyLace
@TheKnottyLace Жыл бұрын
Hi @martha-anastasia, I totally agree with your thought process however some variegated yarn brands are not dyed evenly and can run by a few millimeters, so no matter how even our stitching may be, the yarn may not comply 😁 . Hope that helps 💕

So. I'm visiting mom. Raid her yarn stash and find a orange sized ball of variegated yarn. Grab a hook. I ran off a 8" square and it worked. An argyle pattern perfectly centered. So fun. (((((((Insert twilight zone music))))))

Hi there! - I had to end my last stitch on a new color hence the extra chains. This also shows what one could do with the access number of chains if they didn’t have a fix size in mind. :) - hope that clarifies. Thanks - Shaz.

So 59 chains work for any stitch but will it work for Red Heart Stillwater pooling color?
@TheKnottyLace
@TheKnottyLace 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly, I dont think so because of the number of colors and length of each yarn/brand is different. You would have to go to plannedpooling.com and work out the total stitches you need. You can refer to my tutorial on how to use this site in order to get the number of sts that would work for RH Stillwater type. 👍
