This is AWESOME!!! I'm a newbie crocheter & finished this hat in 1 1/2hrs!!!! I made it much bigger for my Hubby. I would call my hat a size XXL. (For those that want to know....for the band I made 28 rows (24 inches). I repeated the rows up until it measured 9 inches (with the band folded over). I used a generic roving type yarn that I found at Dollarama (in Canada) for $2/each. I used both balls including making the pom-pom) The yarn label says - Knit It - Cable Knitting Yarn, 87y-80m-100g. 100% Polyester but feels like it contains wool. Thank you for sharing this pattern with us all xx It was easy for me to modify this for my needs (which is difficult when I don't really know what I'm doing, lol!) xx

Which type and color of Lionbrand Thick & Quick did you use? Was it the "wool-ease" one? Also, could you link to the pom you used? I've had a tricky time on Amazon finding nice ones...
@LunarKnitsbyLori5 жыл бұрын
It was the wool-ease thick and quick yes! And I believe I used barley for this pattern, but the color oatmeal is very similar! I also made the Pom Pom myself with fabric I got from Jo-Ann fabrics! You can find a tutorial to make your own on my channel!

I really like this pattern, the only issue I have is there is a big line up the back, so perhaps I am not joining the rounds correctly. I will try again to do it better. The hat is easy to make, you did a great job on the video. Thanks.
@LunarKnitsbyLori5 жыл бұрын
There will be a bit of a line! But if you make your chains at the beginning of each round tightly that should help. OR if you want to do it without joining in the round, you could use a stitch marker to make the beginning of your round and work the pattern without joining.

I love the hat but I am out of. Super bulky yarn. Can I use red heart super saver yarn?
@LunarKnitsbyLori7 жыл бұрын
Sure! I would hold it double stranded if you want the bulky. You could also make it with one strand and a smaller hook. Just measure around your head to find the perfect size!

It’s September! Finally hat weather for me up north here. I’ve never seen someone put their working yarn in the same hand as the hook. Have you always done this as someone who usually crochets, or are you a knitter? Just curious lol

I actually started crocheting about 4 years before I learned to knit! The video tutorial I used at the time to learn, that’s how she held her hook and yarn! 😂 I had no idea it was weird until I started posting videos. I hope you enjoy this pattern!
@sarahsalazar90376 жыл бұрын
Has anyone used this pattern and left the top open for a pony tail? Or is the hat itself to long ?
@LunarKnitsbyLori6 жыл бұрын
You could definitely make it one! Instead of cinching the top, you will want to do a decrease round and then the next round place 1 stitch in every stitch. If you want the hole to be smaller go ahead and do another decrease round! You can always try it on after each round until you have the fit you like.
@melaneylassen486 жыл бұрын

Correct! You may even choose to add a couple stitches to your starting chain to help the slouch.
@99cpineapples176 жыл бұрын
I love this hat and have made a couple so far. But I do not think u are using the correct terminology for "back loop only". Your stitch looks very similar to the "around back post" , but I am not familiar with a name for what u are doing, which may confuse new ones.

Does anyone else get a really weird/crooked seam on the back of this hat? Or is it just me lol
@LunarKnitsbyLori6 жыл бұрын
Make sure when you join, you join to the beginning stitch and not the chain. And place your first stitch of the next round in the same stitch as your chain. This should prevent a crooked seam.

Perfect. Thanks so much!
