If this doesn't work for you: 1.Keep your eyes open 2.Don't keep them super wide, relaxed, but do not blink! 3.Yawn with your mouth closed, not an obvious yawn, just the motion. 4.Go blank, don't focus on anything, don't think. Just let it go. 5.Get into it and cry! TIP: GET INTO CHARACTER!! Feel the scene! Make yourself believe it's real. This doesn't work for sobbing, just silent tears, anger tears, or strong emotions.

I’ve never been able to pinpoint what exactly allows me to do it, but making the facial expressions, manifesting the deep chest feeling, and the “cry-breathing” among other things is exactly how I do it. Hearing or even thinking of the beginning of Dionne Warwick's "That's what friends are for" immediately brings me to tears. Instinctively I think of my cat that I lost this past year. He was everything I could have ever wanted in an animal and his absence has left me scarred internally. I recommend that you find that instance or trigger in life that hits you deep to the core and think of it when you need to cry. It works well for me.

Audrey! I have a question! Something i do for crying is to put like a sad face and also i get into my character and think about how they feel. Buttt sometimes it doesnt work so what i do is put a sad face and then for some reason i yawn but im not causing it, it helps a lot tho bc i cry and get like boogers (ik thats gross but happens when you cry) and I also try to not make it look like im yawning, so when i do that it looks like im holding tears in which ig is good, anyway, my question is, can you do that in an audition?

Hey, I had the same problem, even though it’s SUPER WEIRD! I was told it’s because things that trigger crying are often also emotionaly tiring, so for some people it triggers a yawn. I let the yawn happen but try to keep my face as still as possible. For me the moment I hold back the yawn is when the tears start coming because of the way I hold my face to stop the yawn. It’s weird, but it works for me, so I hope I helped a little.

i’ve always been able to do that and i can cry in seconds! it works really well and i try teaching it to other people because everybody thinks i’m able to cry really well and they can’t seem to do it! i guess only some of us can do it or something.
