This might sound odd but can toilet paper cause yeast infections? I noticed with certain brands I get itchy then others it doesn't cause a problem. They aren't scented or anything but it seems like the angel soft types always cause a yeast infection then if I use cottonelle types it's not an issue. Or could that be an allergy? Thanks for any info. Also pregnant(two pregnancies in a row actually) so I've noticed it even more.

I have this problem since my first sex intercourse at 16 years old. So it has been 14 years with the last two years yeasts apearing every month. It is devastating. I was for three months on a vegan diet with many herbal supplements and homemade oil vaginal infusion mixtures. It was much better. Then I had to get antibiotics for another reason and everything started again and even worse than it ever was. It is so so stressful and dissappointing. Other woman live with no big problems, when I do not drink alcohol nor smoke for years, have stress free life and living very healthy, and it is every month so bad to me still. I feel devastated.

I have been suffering from recurrent yeast infections for a long time. I’m 17 and I’ve had this problem for years. It goes away during my period and then comes back after a couple of days my menstrual circle is done. I probably get it like twice a month... sometimes it just goes away by itself and then comes back again. I’m extremely insecure about it but at least I feel a little better knowing I’m not the only one who has this problem.

I am so sorry to hear that you've been navigating recurrent yeast infections for years. I so hear you when you say you feel insecure. I know UTIs are different infections, but having navigated recurrent UTIs for years, I can understand why you're feeling insecure about recurrent yeast infections. You are not alone at all in this experience. And it's great that you've already been tracking your symptoms enough to realize that the infections seem to be tied with your cycle. I hope that you were able to gather some knew information from this video, and that you can find a healthcare provider who listens to you, and who you feel you can truly trust. Something must be changing in your vaginal environment during your cycle to promote yeast infections. Do not give up on your ability to get to the bottom of it, and do not give up on your body's ability to heal 💛 I really wish I could be more helpful. I wish you only the best.

I'm so, so sorry that you've been struggling with yeast infections for 2 years at this point. I hate that your doctor was so dismissive and simply continued to give you prescriptions and send you on your way. I know it's hard to hear, but radical self reliance is SO important when navigating "chronic, mysterious" conditions, and I'm SO happy that you're starting to do your own research. I know our experiences are different, but I've healed from three "chronic, mysterious" conditions in my lifetime, and am currently healing from a fourth. I have a lot of strong feelings about healing and a lot of strong feelings about navigating medicine. I actually just uploaded a video about navigating western & alternative medicine that may be of interest to you. It's here, if you'd like to watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqCUfIybdtKCnMU I also went into great detail in this community post about healing/what I've learned from my success in the past: kzbin.info/door/IEbpR8WRMFLKO4jSylhB1Acommunity?lb=UgzvPs77Q8D3zg6joNJ4AaABCQ What I will say is that bodies are capable of SO much healing when we support them with the correct, optimal healing environments. It's figuring out what that environment looks like that can be so tricky. Your body is no exception, and is SO much more powerful than you realize - you always, always, always deserve to feel peace in your body and your mind. Don't give up 🧡

@PelvicEmpowerment 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Annie. I’m so sorry to hear that you feel your physician has given up on you. You deserve to be supported as you navigate these infections, and I hope you’re able to get that support elsewhere. Any chronic infection can be tricky, and it’s important to really focus on your body and your specific presentation. I have a few ideas, but know that I can’t give individualized medical advice. Knowing that your infections are linked to menstruation is an excellent first step. Are you on birth control? Some birth controls increase estrogen levels, which can increase the risk of yeast infections. If you are on birth control, that could be the culprit. If you aren’t on birth control, menstruation is when estrogen is the highest in the body, and high estrogen levels are linked to yeast infections. 1. Regardless of birth control, you could try “starving out the yeast” around the time in your cycle that you get the infections. This diet can be hit or miss and the evidence is lacking for it... but hey. It works for some women! 2. Have you gotten the yeast cultured? If you’re treating it over the counter or your physician is blindly treating you with azoles, it could be that you have a different strain of candida other than albicans and you simply need a different treatment. 3. Even if your pH is unbalanced, you could start using pH strips to test your vaginal pH throughout your cycle. If you notice that towards your menses your pH becomes too acidic, you could use home remedies to try and preventatively balance your vaginal pH around that time in your cycle (for example, some women will use yogurt suppositories to make a too acidic environment a little more basic, or diluted apple cider vinegar to make a basic environment more acidic). I think the more information surrounding your infections you can gather, the better you can try effectively treating those infections. I apologize for my delayed response - my husband and I are currently honeymooning. Please don’t hesitate to ask any other questions. Try to be kind and patient with yourself and your body ❤️ wishing you only the best!

Pelvic Empowerment hey, i have had a similar problem but for 3 years, i get aggressive symptoms of burning constantly during a flare up, i literally feel so alone and defeated because of this problem. I am getting pain even if its just a little bit nearly every day. I’ve been on intense plans of fluconazole and taken it for longer that 2 years and it has had no effect on solving the problem, it just keeps it at bay for a week, I have also tried nilstat and clomazol creams multiple times and it never resolves it :( I cant have sex without pain and its so fucking horrible. Doctors just don’t understand a lot of the time and just try to get me to learn to deal with the pain and flare up’s even though i know thrush is the main problem, but from that, it caused nerve pain to develop. Often my swabs wont show thrush unless I’m having an intense flare up and have been off fluconazole for a couple weeks which is often hard to find, drinking wine and having sugar makes it worse, so I am completely sugar free/gluten free and thats been the biggest help to me so far. Recently got a sensitivity test which showed Candida albicans and said i was sensitive to fluconazole but said to contact them for more sensitivities

I love how you broke this down. I see myself in the area of what changed in my environment and for me I started using vaginal estrogen along with bioidentical hormones. I started getting a watery discharge that stings and causes irritation. There is no odor. I know when I was younger it would literally smell like yeast you bake with. But this time no discernible oder. I have used Diflucan felt better for a few days then it came back. Started using Boric acid for a few days. It starts to get better so I stop the treatment and then it's back again. I guess I am not doing the treatment long enough so it returns. I do have an appointment on Wednesday with my GYN because not really knowing what is going on is starting to affect me emotionally. I have always suffered with pelvic issues. I have been diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction along with interstitial cystitis. I would have loved to have you as my therapist. I am doing much better now since I found out a lot of my problems stemmed from Tarlov Cysts in my sacrum. I had surgery to wrap 8 nerve root cysts and since then my bladder and pelvic floor issues have really calmed down. Thanks again for this informative video.
@PelvicEmpowerment

Wow. First and foremost, I am so sorry to hear that you've been navigating pelvic issues for so long -- pelvic floor dysfunction and IC are both diagnoses I am very familiar with from my clinical work, and I know how challenging they can be both physically and emotionally. While I am not happy to hear that you have Tarlov Cysts, I am SO happy that treating them has given you relief. And thank you for the kind words, I am sure I would've loved treating you ❤️ Secondly, thank you so much for your openness in this comment. I am confident that someone else who is maybe too shy to comment will benefit from reading this. So thank you. Finally, I do not know a lot about the connection between vaginal estrogen/bioidentical hormones and changes in the vaginal environment, as I haven't researched/studied this (yet, but now I will!) -- but I bet if you can trace your symptoms to these changes, they are likely the culprit. Diflucan is the go-to, and I love that you also tried boric acid... did you pair boric acid with vaginal probiotics? I am hopeful that your appointment with your GYN will yield some good treatment options for you. I cannot give individualized medical advice, but the two general concepts that I'd like to share are: 1. Perhaps you'd benefit from a vaginal swab to take a pulse on your vaginal environment/figure out if this is a yeast infection, what kind of candida is causing it? 2. With boric acid, definitely check with your GYN, but this is what I usually see prescribed to my patients: I usually see boric acid used as a vaginal suppository inserted at night before bed 1x/day x7-14 days, then maybe 2x/week for a month afterwards paired with a vaginal probiotic (also inserted vaginally at night before bed) 3x/wk while taking the boric acid (but I cannot prescribe, so definitely see what your physician thinks/prefers) To my knowledge, boric acid and vaginal probiotics are available over the counter, and you can make your own suppositories. As far as the vaginal probiotic goes, lactobacillus rhamnosus and lactobacillus reuteri are the two of the bacteria that you may want in the vaginal probiotic ( this is a brand I know that has those strains: www.metagenics.com/ultraflora-women-s ) I really wish I could be more helpful, but I am so glad the video was helpful to you ❤️ Don't hesitate to reach out with questions, and I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Obviously something is going on internally. Why are so many doctors not trying to find the CAUSE of the YIs?! Pretty sure mine is high estrogen, but my doctor wouldn't test my hormones to confirm. I'd rather prevent than have to continuously treat the problem. Btw I've tried boric acid, probiotics, supplements for YI, eating less carbs/sugar, drinking more water, and I follow the typical rules we ladies are told to follow. Nothing helps. It's misery.

I'm so sorry to learn that you've been navigating chronic infections for 3 years. You are not alone in this experience, and I understand your hesitancy in using more medications since they tend to lead to BV. You're right to question the cycle, and sometimes medicine is much better at "managing" an issue than it is at "curing" that issue. Bandaids instead of solutions. Bodies are SO incredible, and they're capable of SUCH immense healing when they have the right, supportive environments conducive to that healing -- it's figuring out what that environment looks like that can be so tricky. I don't think your body is an exception! Don't give up on her ability to heal, and I hope that what I've outlined in my videos or resources you find elsewhere can help you create your optimal healing environment soon ❤️ PS -- I have a lot of strong feelings surrounding healing from "mysterious," "chronic" conditions, and I've outlined them in a community post on this channel. My yeast infection comes monthly too...but they are very minor. When I got the first one, it burns and itch as hell. But after I went to the hospital and used the medication, it went away for several month. For recent months I found myself having cottage cheese discharges after ovulation but before period. The amount of discharge is little, and no burn or itch, but the cottage cheese discharge matches yeast infection discharges. The university health service was shut down due to the pandemic, and I really don’t know if treatment is necessary for me since I don’t have symptoms. By symptoms I mean massive amount of discharge and itchiness. I feel frustrated😞

Your frustration is totally valid, and I'm sorry you're navigating irregular discharge. It sounds like your discharge fluctuates with your cycle and clears on its own? I wonder if there's a pH change going on between ovulation and your period. Don't give up on your body! This is something you can figure out, and hopefully when the University Health Service opens back up you can get some professional advice, too 💛

This is my best guess about the hormones: during the luteal phase the hormones create a more basic environment in the vagina so sperm can survive and fertilize the egg. The vagina is naturally acidic, Fungus can grow more in non acidic environments. So the ph change meant to aid in conception is what's causing yeast overgrowth.

Hi, thanks so much for your video! It's really clearly communicated, which is inspiring! I've not heard of the candida protocol before and on the one hand I'd like to try it. But on the other, my history of disordered eating makes me nervous to try a restrictive diet. Have you ever encountered someone with a similar problem? And if so, do you have any suggestions? Just a bit of context about me, I know that I have albacans and I've tried all the other suggestions in this video, but persistently get thrush once a month, exclusively in the periods when I'm sexually active. Thanks!

I tend to get yeast infections after taking antibiotics and I suspect I have one now from taking amoxicillin. The starving out candidas approach sounds very interesting since I've been eating lots of sugar because of the holiday season. I'm going to see my GY doctor but in the meantime I'll try the anti-candida diet - because why not!

Thank you very much for this video. I've been having yeast infection for more than 11 years. I buy azoles every month it works for a period of time and then I get it the next month. nothing helped me I cut the sugar and carbs, used nothing but water to clean, ate a lot of Greek yogurt. I can say my yeast is Albicans, because I did a lot of swaps during those 11 years, and I always get Azoles as prescription. can I still use Boric Acid even if I have Albicans? is it an over the counter ?I can seem to find it here in Bahrain. I noticed I get it in my Luteal phase, what can I do about it I can't control my hormones Lol. Thanks again the most helpful video on KZbin about yeast infection.

Ugh, I am so sorry to hear that you've have recurrent yeast infections for that last 11 years. I really hate hearing that, and I hope that this video was able to shed at least some light on recurrent infections. Yes, you can absolutely make your own boric acid suppositories! I wonder if resetting the vaginal flora and building back up your good bacteria (lactobacilli) would be a helpful move, especially since the recurrent infection is, in fact, albicans. I can't give individualized medical advice, and I recommend moving forward under the supervision of a trusted physician. That being said, I can share what I've seen work for patients of mine in the past! I usually see boric acid used as a vaginal suppository inserted at night before bed 1x/day x7-14 days, then maybe 2x/week for a month afterwards paired with a vaginal probiotic (also inserted vaginally at night before bed) 3x/wk while taking the boric acid (but I cannot prescribe, so definitely see what your physician thinks/prefers) To my knowledge, boric acid and vaginal probiotics are available over the counter, and you can make your own suppositories. As far as the vaginal probiotic goes, lactobacillus rhamnosus and lactobacillus reuteri are the two of the bacteria that you may want in the vaginal probiotic ( this is a brand I know that has those strains: www.metagenics.com/ultraflora-women-s ) As far as the luteal phase of your cycle, I saw that you said the "anti-candida" diet didn't work for you. I've seen women use this diet's guidelines only during the phases of their cycle that seem to be the most symptomatic in order to "starve out" the yeast. Some health care providers do not believe in this method, others do. I'm not sure where I stand, but I've seen it work for other women. I truly wish you nothing but the best, and I hope you are able to find your body's cure to these recurrent infections. 💕

If you are here after browsing through internet but still didn’t find any solutions . To be honest i hv been through the same situation so here are my some tips 1. These are either through hormonal imbalance or insulin resistance so first step is to 100%cut off sugar 2. Drink apple cider vinegar a glass in the morning and dont eat any kind of sweet fruits in the morning instead opt for protein or carbs and replace ur coffee with green tea. 3. Keep the area as dry as possible and if possible spread ur legs for ventilation 😅especially for people like me who hv thick thigh. 4. Stay away from milk in raw form and include lots of veggies in the diet. 5. Wash your panties thoroughly and dry in the sun. 6. Drink lots of water and include vitamin c and probiotics if possible. 7. Do at least 15 minutes of exercise everyday. I hope these tips will help I won’t say it will cure but it helps in controlling it as we can never get rid of it as it is naturally present in our V .

Thank you so much for this video, I have been struggling for 3 years now, and have seen 7 gynos. The last one told me that " I was just thinking with my vagina" and that I am freaking out too much over my infection that he thought he had cured. But here I am after using every "zol", boric acid, and OTC meds. I have done daily, weekly, 3 month and 6 month treatments. I had my IUD removed and have spent over $1,500 on medication and doctors visits. It gets frustrating when I have to wait in order to be able to save up and pay for a visit or medication. I can try the boric acid and probiotic combo. I am also healing my gut from chronic constipation, using some chemical and holistic methods. I am also worried I am passing this infection between my partner and I, so that is why it keeps coming back? He has taking almost as many antifungals as me, during my treatments too. I am not sure which combination of things I can do to finally get rid of it. Thank you

I'm so, so sorry to learn about your 3 year struggle and how dismissive/invalidating your most recent gynecologist was to you. That upsets me, and I hope you know your experience is real, and that physician was wrong to say what he said to you. I can't give individualized medical advice, but I can share that, while I've not struggled with chronic yeast infections, I have struggled with and healed from chronic UTIs, acid reflux, and herpes (on my hand of all places), and am currently struggling with and healing from something that I know would've been diagnosed as a chronic pain condition by now. Every time I've healed from a chronic condition -- and currently, as I heal from a pelvic nerve injury -- relying radically on myself, embracing trial and error, and trusting my intuition have been paramount in my healing. I know how hopeless these situations can feel, but I genuinely believe that bodies are capable of immense healing, and I don't think yours is an exception. It sounds like you've tried different interventions that haven't worked -- I hope you can look at those trials as bringing you one step closer to the right intervention. Don't give up on yourself. Keep trying different interventions, different combinations, especially the ones that "feel right" to you and your body. Listen to physicians/health care providers that care about you, disregard the ones who invalidate you, but, most of all, listen to and try to learn to trust yourself. Western medicine is so amazing when it comes to certain health issues, but it fails tremendously when it comes to HEALING from "chronic" conditions. It's very focused on "management," not healing. You can heal. You will find your healing. You deserve to feel peace in your body and your mind. Keep going 💛

I have read some of your replies here and would like to purchase the Metagenics UltraFlora Women's probiotic you recommend to try...the link you provided is for "Practitioner Exclusive" product and you need to have a Practitioner Code in order to purchase it (which I don't have)... I saw this product on other online store that didn't state "Practitioner Exclusive" on the bottle...do you know the difference in the two? Different strengths, formulas...?
@PelvicEmpowerment

Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention, I didn’t realize it was a practitioner exclusive product! I always used the guidance of a local pharmacist when women would try the boric acid/vaginal probiotic combination under my care. Unfortunately I do not know much about the differences between the strengths/formulas of the practitioner vs. non-practitioner products. If you have access to a compounding pharmacy in your area, you may be able to chat with a pharmacist there about the right brand for you! Compound pharmacies tend to work with less common diagnoses like pelvic pain/pelvic dysfunction. I wish I could be more helpful! Wishing you only the best ❤️

I have been suffering from recurrent yeast infections for the best part of 4 years. I take hormonal birth control and I have been on various brands of combined, progesterone-only and reduced hormone versions however yeast still returns. I stick to combined pills as I tend to bleed constantly on progesterone-only pills and they didn't stop the infection. I have just finished a 6-month course of fluconazole which kept the infection at bay for about 4 months since finishing the treatment, however it has returned. I think my recurrent infections may be due to underlying hormone imbalance caused by the pill which is then triggered by a week of bad eating/ drinking alcohol as the infection does not correlate to my menstrual cycle or return at regular intervals. Fluconazole does cure the infection initially. I don't want to be completely off birth control but I feel there is limited non-normal options available that won't cause infections e.g. the copper IUD has a high yeast infection risk. I have also had various tests for other health conditions such as BV, diabetes, Internal/external uterus scans, I also take probiotics everyday. All other tests have come back normal. Does anyone have any advice on keeping the infection away for good?
@PelvicEmpowerment
@PelvicEmpowerment 4 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to learn about your struggle with recurrent yeast infections. It sounds like you've done a lot of trial and error trying to figure out how to manage them, and I'm really glad that you've ruled out other health conditions. I completely understand and respect you not wanting to get off of birth control. I cannot give individualized medical advice, but I can share an idea. If your gut feeling is that the recurrent infections are due to the hormone imbalance caused by birth control, you could always try to rule out this theory. Of course, you'd need the supervision of your prescribing physician, but, if it is a safe and healthy option for you, you could stop taking hormonal birth control with the intention to test the theory, instead of the intention being to be off of birth control forever. You could go off for a number of months, see how your recurrent infections respond, and use the results to influence your next decision. If the infections don't dissipate, you can rule out birth control and happily continue to take it without worrying about it causing infections. If the infections stop, then you know the cost of taking birth control, and you can weigh this cost to the benefits and make an informed decision on whether or not to continue. I wish I could be more helpful. Recurrent infections can be so challenging -- don't give up on yourself or your body's ability to heal ❤️ Wishing you the best.

How interesting! I've heard of the opposite scenario, where getting off of birth control helps with recurring infections, but I haven't run into anyone in clinic where the opposite was true -- but of course it can be, right? BC could change or regulate hormones that could affect the vaginal microbiome. I totally hear your concern about discontinuing BC. I hope that that isn't the case, and that you're able to discontinue infection-free 💕 Wishing you health and safety during this uncertain time!

@PelvicEmpowerment
@PelvicEmpowerment 5 жыл бұрын
First of all, I am so sorry to hear that you've been dealing with chronic yeast infections for 7 years now. I know how challenging chronic urogenital infections can be to navigate from my own personal experience, and I hope that you still feel worthy of pleasure and at peace in your body. Secondly, what a fantastic question. I hadn't looked into this before your comment, but I did a quick pubmed search and I found this 2014 study that investigates tobacco specifically and its effects on the vaginal microbiome. (It's difficult to find studies looking into marijuana, I think those studies will come out later as marijuana becomes legal nationally). Here is the study: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4161850/ What I learned is that, "Smokers had a lower proportion of vaginal Lactobacillus spp. compared to non-smokers" -- even though the study was investigating bacterial vaginosis, not yeast infections, I could reason in my head that if candida is the fungus behind yeast infections, and candida can live in the vagina without causing the vagina harm (remember it is a commensal organism, and only becomes harmful if it's population grows too large), and the bacteria that keep candida to a non-harmful level are the lactobacillus species, then perhaps it makes sense that if chronic tobacco use lowers lactobacillus, chronic tobacco use could increase the risk of yeast infections. That all being said, I am not sure. I would never encourage you to forcefully stop smoking if it doesn't feel like the right time in your life to stop, but you could always run an experiment on yourself! Maybe take 4-6 weeks off, if you feel you can, and take a pulse on any changes in your vaginal health. That way you can, at the very least, rule smoking in or out as a factor contributing to your yeast infections! I wish you only the best, and please don't hesitate to reach out with any other questions 💕

I've tried oral ones that mention they are for vaginal health. But it unfortunately did not stop then from coming. I wish I knew what was off balance that my flora can't handle sex. Boric acid is the best (healthy and fast working) product that I have found to get rid of the yest once it's there, but I'm in desperate need to find something that help prevent it from happening in the first place. What is off in my body that I can't handle having sex? Something is off balance. Pls, anything you can think of, I'd be beyond grateful 🙏🏼

I've never had a yeast infection before. Am in my 80's and just has been diagnosed with one. Was given a prescription for a 2 day pill regimen, 2 day in between, and using Vagisil cream on the outside. Since using cream, it feels worse. Is it recommended to use the one for the inside?

Thanks so much for this video and your dedication to replying to comments. I have had almost monthly yeast infections for over 4 years now, which seem to have started after the birth of my son. They don’t seem to be linked to my cycle, which has never been regular. I’m 1 year postpartum with my second baby, no cycle, and have had several infections. I tend to get them after sex/oral sex, even though my partner has been tested. It’s almost as if my vagina is ultra sensitive to any changes in pH. I treat with monistat but it always comes back eventually... except I’ve never had discharge, just red inflamed skin and very itchy! I’ve had several swabs and it’s always albicans. I eat a whole foods plant based diet, sometimes some treats (sugar, alcohol, processed carbs) but in general I would consider myself pretty healthy! Do you have any leads I can look into? :-( Thanks so much for taking the time...

I am so sorry to hear that you've been navigating monthly infections for the last 4 years or so! But I am really glad to know that you've been tracking your symptoms and you get the infections tested. It sounds like you're on to something -- you know the infection is albicans, and given your tracking you've got a hunch that the infections likely aren't hormonal/cyclical, seem to be related to penetrative/oral sex, and maybe are more in the realm of sensitivity to a change in pH. You are absolutely not alone in this experience, having yeast infections that seem to be more related to sex than anything else. And science doesn't really have a good answer/understanding as to why this happens. I cannot give individualized medical advice, but I can share my thought process/what I'd think about if it were me. Albicans (and candida in general) can live in the vaginal environment without issue, but some women have vaginal environments with NO candida. They serve no positive purpose, they just aren't always harmful. So... my thought is... if I don't need candida in my vaginal environment, can I eradicate it completely? I don't have the science to back this up, but when I think repeated infections like yours I think about there potentially being a candida biofilm somewhere in the environment. Biofilms are super strong colonies of candida that are protected from your natural immune system/medicine/other defenses. Boric acid has been show to destroy candida biofilms. There are also some supplements that claim to destroy biofilms (and I don't know enough about them to speak very intelligently on the subject). If it were me, I would operate under that thought process. Could it be a Candida albicans biofilm, and can I eradicate it completely? Maybe the boric acid regimen with a vaginal probiotic would do it, maybe one of the supplements that claim to eradicate biofilms, maybe something else! But that's where my mind goes 💕 I wish I could be more helpful! Wishing you the best!

Nystatin tablets [a prescription item]. You may need it for 6 months or more because it may be systemic. Oregamax [wild Mediterranean oregano] comes in capsules, oil at vitamin stores. Dietary changes - no pasta, macaroni, potatoes, bagels, cakes, junk food, pizza. Try to eat mostly meat, fish, eggs and vegetables. Probiotics. When the infection is chronic it is coming from your stomach/ your microbiome. You have to fix that by changing the diet. If you are stressed, sleep deprived that has to change too. Hungry? Eat a protein bar rather than junk food. Your body is out of balance but you can work on it and fix it. Most Dr.'s get 7 hrs. In nutrition in medical school. They do not know. Dr.'s who know about gut/microbiome do know.

Hello! Thank you so much for this video. Very informative! I currently take Garden of Life’s women’s daily care probiotic, orally. It has the type of lactobacillus that you recommend. But I’m wondering if this is safe to use as a suppository, or if there’s a specific kind of probiotic suppository that you’re referring to. Thank you! ❤️❤️

I'm so glad this video was helpful for you! And excellent question! I'm not sure about that specific brand, but usually pharmacists are an excellent resource, especially if the pharmacist works at a compounding pharmacy (compounding pharmacies usually help create vaginal suppositories for treating a host of different things). If there is a compounding pharmacy in your area, chatting with one of those pharmacists about Garden of Life might be helpful! And the brand that I've seen used in the clinic is this brand: www.metagenics.com/ultraflora-women-s -- but I've been told you need a provider's code to purchase from this website. I wish I could be more helpful! Wishing you health and safety during this uncertain time 💛

Hi. I'm not sure if i have yeast infection but i experience a lot of itching only on the left side of my vagina, never on the right side and sometimes due to itchines skin around that area can tear causing a cut and it hurts a lot. I have thick white discharge and i can sometimes feel it come down when i stand up. It doesn't have a strong bad odor but it clearly smells different. Also i have irregular periods.

Man, I am so sorry to hear about your experience with left-sided itchiness/tearing. I have never experienced a one-sided yeast infection... have you followed-up with a healthcare provider about this? There are certain skin conditions that can affect the vulva that would be worth ruling out. Itchiness can also be caused by hormones/other unbalances in the body (blood work can be helpful sometimes!) I really wish I could be more helpful -- but don't give up on your body's ability to heal. Investigate and learn as much as you can about your body's current environment, and see if you can't piece the puzzle together! Wishing you health and safety during this uncertain time 🤗

I have been dealing with with vaginal yeast infection for about 5 months now. Fluconazole and miconazole didn’t really work out for me. So ai have been taking candida killing/cleanse supplements using Caprilyc acid, oregano oil, garlic, ACV etc. They helped me manage the symptoms but my symptoms really have ups and downs still. Now from your video based on what’s applicable to me, I could presume that it could be non Candida albicans candida I have. I haven’t tried out boric acid. I should definitely try this out and consult with gynocologist. By the way, what’s your perspective on Sacchromyces Boulardi which is a friendly probiotic yeast? Today is my day 2 with SB but I feel much itchier and more discharge. Could SB impact vaginal environment? I look forward to your response if you get to see this. Really appreciate it 😢

I am so, so sorry to hear that you’ve been working through chronic yeast infections for the last 6 months. Having been through chronic urogential infections myself (UTIs), I know all to well how easy it was for me to start feeling hopeless, and to develop negative self talk. As you navigate these infections, I hope that you are able to remind yourself that your body is always on your side, and that you are able to speak to yourself patiently and kindly. Figuring out that your infections are linked with your cycle is an excellent first step, and your question about birth control is a really good one. Birth control could be an option, but I highly recommend speaking with a healthcare provider you trust who can help tailor birth control to your specific presentation. I say this because all birth control affects your vaginal hormonal environment, and some birth controls are actually linked to an increase risk of yeast infection because some birth controls increase the amount of estrogen in a woman’s body. If you were to go down the birth control route, you’d be assuming that your yeast infections are due to a hormonal change at a specific time in your cycle (very plausible), and you’d want a birth control that did not increase your estrogen levels (these exist!). I’m also so sorry to hear that your mom isn’t being as supportive as you’d like in this situation. You deserve support, and I hope you’re able to find it elsewhere if not at home ❤️ Other potential options: 1. Knowing exactly when in your cycle yeast infections happen to help you figure out what the cause is (is it closer to your period? That would also point towards hormones, that’s when estrogen is high) 2. Get the candida cultured - are you using over the counter treatments for albicans/is your physician blindly giving you azoles when the candida causing your infections is a different kind that needs different treatment? 3. Trying out the yeast-starving diet around the time in your cycle that you are prone to infection (I’ve seen this work for some and not at all for others, the jury is out on whether this diet is the real deal but hey. If it works, it works!) 4. Getting some over the counter pH strips and testing your vaginal pH throughout your cycle - how does it change and if it becomes too acidic, when does this happen? You might be able to use some home remedies to keep your vaginal pH optimal preventatively during that time in your cycle. It’s hard to know exactly what to do, but figuring out your body and what’s best specifically for you is the best way I know to go about it. I’m sorry for my delayed response! My husband and I are currently honeymooning - that being said, don’t hesitate to ask any other questions, and know that I wish you only the best ❤️

I’m so sorry you’re working through these infections right now, but I’m really glad this video was helpful for you! As far as a vaginal probiotic goes, lactobacillus rhamnosus and lactobacillus reuteri are the two of the bacteria that you want in the probiotic-this is a brand I know that has those strains: www.metagenics.com/ultraflora-women-s (I’ve had women use this in the clinic before). Don’t hesitate to reach out with any other questions! Wishing you only the best ❤️

I am so, so sorry to hear that you’ve been navigating this infection for 4 years. Having had chronic urogenital infections myself, I so understand how physically and emotionally exhausting they can be. I hope that you are able to maintain a kind and loving relationship with yourself during this experience 💕 Azoles are often the go-to medication for yeast infections. If you’ve tried them in the past and only get temporary relief, it may be that your infection is caused by a stain of candida other than Candida albicans. I hope that you are able to find relief soon ❤️ Wishing you only the best!
