I love this guys videos. So simple, so precise, so effective. Really changed how I throw my punches and I gotta say I'm open to this soviet/russian style of boxing. It's very effective. For now I shadow box and practice angles and workouts. I have to take it in the ring to stress test myself.

If you've got any experience as a boxer (amateur or pro) you'll know this is EXCELLENT advice but you do not BLINDLY follow it. I dare any one of you to switch southpaw against orthodox when cutting him off and see what happens. He says he doesn't change stance but he does, clearly. And at 3;44-3:46 he's forced to throw his weak backhand. If you are not a switch hitter, yes you've cut your opponent off but at the expense of being in an unfamiliar stance Vs your opponents normal stance AND he's probably ready to potshot you for being in range, will you be ready? If you try this 3 times your opponent/coach will make note and he WILL respond, will you be ready? You MUST take responsibility with this technique and remain defensively and/or offensively responsible. Do not assume because you've cut your opponent he will continue retreating/freeze or you will be punished.

I know this is an old comment so maybe you won't see this. It could be a translation issue partly, or context that's lost maybe?. He's of course changing stance, but only briefly as he cuts them off - I wonder is this why he emphasises the fact that he is maintaining a long distance when he begins cutting - that way he doesn't get countered while cutting/switching stance? I have to imagine so.

In the right foot forward part do I fight southpaw?
@-destroyingyouverbally76142 жыл бұрын
Yes when switching like that. It's better to know how to box both sides or else you'll just move in closer and would have to fight in your regular position.. that's why it's good to practice both sides.. But when u put your right foot forward you don't have to automatically fight in that position you might have to roll or pivot or move out the way/or towards a punch but ,key point is to be able to step in and punch in that position since it brings you closer and sets you up for that side

I don't think it's necessarily southpaw. You twist your body a little and it becomes orthodox stance, but at an angle. Sorry if I'm not explaining it clear enough.
