A landscaping job that paid $14/hour was enough for me to decline the offer. Landscaping is physically demanding work, especially in summer heat and for $14/hour I'll just stick to the customer service industry. It's too bad I got chewed out by my employment specialist and made a comment saying that I didn't want to work, even though he claimed it was a joke. It was no joke and unprofessional and I was pretty upset for a while. A landscaping company to pay minimum wage is pretty sketchy and I declined the job offer because of the low pay grade of the profession. If I'm outside in the heat doing physically demanding work, I should make more money plain and simple.

My direct boss warned me that my overall boss wants to bring me into sales. (I'm in research and data and I've been with the company for 4 years) I DO NOT want to ever be in sales and I'm worried denying the opportunity will appear ungrateful or disappoint my bosses. How do I deny a position within the team that I've worked for over the course of 4 years?

You should discuss panel interviews. I recently had an 3 hour interview with a panel of 6, for a Security Manager Position. The interview went really well, I thought. Most of the discussion was one sided, myself of course. It seemed very polite and respectful, they laughed at my jokes and I laughed at theirs. They asked off script questions. 2 Operations Manager, 2 Department heads, the HR Generalist and the GM. I couldn't shake the feeling that The HR lady hated me. In my industry reading people, especially their body language saves lives. So it seemed she was very uncomfortable and shifty in her seat, sighed a lot, had a tone to her voice, she asked several off topic follow up questions, she was 2 minutes late to the show, and at the end told the GM that she had more question but was way to busy to ask. She was appalled that I had questions for everyone at the end. But, she still smiled at the end and shook my hand. But, that could just be muscle memory. lol

I looked this video up as I got two job offers that were pretty similar, except in the possibility of doing remote work. Job A seemed good, but they had 'remote work until we get back to office'-situation, while job B has 'full remote after training', and I would only go to the office for meetings. I do not like the unpredictability of 'remote until some time in the future', my nerves are already in scrambles because of other regulations etc. Hence, job B won. Thank you for a good formula on how to decline the offer!

something i learned is, get specific skills that are in demand, and then you may have some choice in what company you work for, get good experience in your field, and build your qualifications, then negotiate for a great offer, not an average one, sure you are nervous, but so is everyone on their first try, get over the nervousness, you can do it and you deserve it, know your worth, and give your efforts to the company who appreciates you and treat you good.

This is very helpful. Thank you. I had the bitter experience!!! During salary negotion,I have observed recently some consultancies, They try to exploit during the salary negotiation Interview knowing that you are foreigner and are too humble .They behave as if you are doing wrong by negotiating the salary.whenever we ask some thing politely also,They try to say that "usually in Germany it is not like this or like this only".. just try to override. Indirectly they point that we dont know any thing about the Job market.They think that we are soft spoken and we will accept and work for anything. I get angry sometimes when someone does like this but i control myself. At the same time, being a such high experienced i feel myself that i should not be exploited by some one. . so what is your suggestion here and how do you react 1 The Companies Expert

@@purplespark8 yeah, they were surprised the reason I turned down the offer was based on location. But, after driving out to the site and visiting the surrounding area, I knew it wasn't going to work for me. The reason would be the seclusion and winter weather (reasons I left another good job i had). I was completely honest with them and told them that if they ever expanded within 3-4 hours of my current location I would accept an offer in a heartbeat. Knowing the job was for me but I couldn't convince myself that a move would be the best option for my mental health was something they were very understanding about (one recruiter said he wouldn't live in that area because of the flat landscape didn't attract him)

i'm so confused , im in the same dilemma and need your opinion. . I got job offer last week for job A and took the position. This week i got an offer for job B which pays more, about $7k more a year. Job A is a hybrid schedule that works 2 days in the the office while Job B is hybrid schedule but have to work 4 days in the office. Job A has better medical insurance benefits than job B. I was working for job B previously for 4 years so i have seniority there if i take that while Job A is a brand new company. With all those factors said, which one would you take, Job A or B ????
@EclecticElegance13
@EclecticElegance13 Жыл бұрын
That comes down to a few things. I would look at it as time vs money. Job B is paying more but is the 7k worth you having to be in office more, thus taking up more of your personal time (consider commute, etc.) and how important are the benefits for you? For me, I would take the new job for less money and more days wfh with the better benefits. But I have an autoimmune disease so benefits are super important and it would be much easier for me to navigate a schedule where I’m not required to come in office much and deal with my situation outside of work. Like doctors appointments and such. But you just gotta consider where you place your value. Do you value the money and seniority more knowing you have to physically be there morel which ultimately impacts your flexibility. I hope everything works out for you for the best and congrats on your 2 offers!!

Top reasons to decline a job offer: 1. They've had your wife lie to you repeatedly and effectively destroyed any chance of your marriage ever working 2. They've used access to your kids against you 3. Lied repeatedly to you 4. Decided that gambling with the health of your family members is acceptable 5. Undermined your closest relationships by also having those people lie to you repeatedly and participate in all of the above 6. An established history of willful manipulation up to and including gaslighting and guilt manipulation 7. Attempting at all times to control the narrative and allowing no dissent 8. Meaningless apologies with no change in behaviour which amounts to yet more manipulation 9. Absolute refusal to negotiate or compromise on any level 10. Ceaseless harassment contrary to repeated requests to cease and desist
