How to delegate access to your inbox in Outlook 2016?

@@computertutoring one more question ...why my delegate ( or I for him) can't open folder. we don't have access to each other inbox but we do exactly what you do. Thansk in advance for answer. Br Rok

Not sure 😕. You should be able to open the folder. However, I did have issues getting the delegates inbox to appear in Outlook. I take it that you have Outlook with an Exchnge account?

would i be able to get access to the sent and drafts folders after i get the access to inbox. i am not able to see the sent items and drafts folders when i was given access.

This is great, but I don't want them to have access to subfolders. Just the inbox. No matter how I do this, they keep seeing the subfolders too.

Should be when you sent the permissions timestamp: 1:15 set the inbox permissions as editor

Hi, the mail you are sent with delegated user, in what folder is stored? In "sent items" of the primary account or the "sent items" of the delegated account?

While giving delegate access I'm getting an error like "The delegate settings were not saved correctly. Cannot activate free/busy information " kindly help me on this .

This error sometimes happens if a delegate isn't in your organisation. Remove that delegate from the delegates list and try again. Hope this works😊

Thank you. Do you know if it's possible to set up a rule for incoming emails that come from "on behalf of ...."? There's seems to be no work around for such setting except identifying each member of the distribution list separately, which is not feasible.

In theory you might want to set up the rule looking at the header information. If not then I'm sorry can't think of a way at the moment

I can open the inbox temporarily but not on the permanent way from the left pane

@@rhivescosmos2300 Yeah I'm having the same problem since I switched to Outlook 365 I have folders on the left but I've added them online. I never got past this error. 4:22 I went through the delegation access on both sides several times.

it appears that the settings needs to be applied on the root inbox on out look. Right click > Folder permission... it works that way so far. (From comments below) Also you can try unchecking the Use Cached Exchange mode to download email to an Outlook data file - (File - Account settings - Account Settings - double click on email - Uncheck - Click next then restart outlook).
