How to DETAIL your OIL industry area in Cities Skylines | Auridon

Welcome to Auridon (Ep 4)! This is a 'lightly’ modded Cities Skylines series, although I do use a ton of mods the series will use mostly Vanilla (+DLC) game assets with only a handful of extras from the workshop. The focus of this build is on making a detailed city, with functional mass transit, including all DLC and content creator packs. 2022 ready!
Episode 4 focuses on how to detail an interesting oil industry district using a mix of zoned oil assets and the Industries DLC and a ton of props! We also look at how to use Multi Network Tool to unlock segments and customise assets and put in a small rural neighborhood using the European Suburbia Content Creators Pack, and add detail to finish the Green Cities community school.

I love the way you detail everything without overdoing it. I see a lot of detailing in other videos that would make my computer explode if I loaded their cities haha, but yours is the right balance between realistic and minimal. Just wondering, wouldn't it be realistic to have a fire station in the area close to the oil fields ? And maybe a police station with the service vehicle selector mod and police car assets that would act as the Security of that district. Can't wait for next episode !

Putting the road actually through the factory to alter the spawn points and make it more realistic is brilliant! Shame there’s not a road that blends in with the ground already there so that it doesn’t look like there’s a road there. Great job though so far!

As I have watched your city grow. I get a sense of history, storytelling is a great way to put life into a build. Real cities don't just appear. They organically grow with the needs of the people and government. I get that with the way your city is growing. With my builds it makes my city go in directions I don't really plan out.

I'm very excited for this series because the map is based on my home town. Taka-Töölö is a district in Helsinki, Finland, but this map includes much more of Helsinki and it's neighboring city than just the district it was named after. I actually live on the tile west of the starting tile. :)

One of the things l love most about your builds is the not perfect things. Imperfection is actually perfection. In real life not all roads are straight, and not all building look the same, etc, and your builds are just that. You can imagine that there was once one building then they expanded and added more, then expanded again. Each time with more money and better buildings.

I love the pacing of these videos! I'm not usually a fan of detailing-focused videos, but you manage to keep a decent flow. I've watched all four of your videos in a single evening. Fantastic oil area Candy! From personal experience of such places that big area of green near the "main" gates would likely have held a football pitch or two and possibly a cricket square (in the UK that is). The big companies tend to like to promote sports facilities for their employees. Wasn't sure about the mud roads to the rigs but they look really good. Wonder if you can get pipes running directly from each drilling area to the processing facilities... could be an interesting embellishment (on top of an already great build).

One thing that stuck out to me on this build is the highway on the top part of the map and where the oil field is located. It might be a thought to connect the north highway down to you main entrance of your starter town in episode 1 to give more options then going all the way around from the north spawn. Enjoying this builds..

As far as I can see you are not using netwerk extensions mod. How do you get extra road options? Like three lanes with tramtracks? Is it in your mod list? 2. 1. I use the Vanilla++ roads collection. It's in the asset list. 2. The episode numbers are in the description or you can follow the playlist to get them all in order! 3. Every 7 days at minimum, more often when time allows 😀

Howdy Oil Candy another beautiful creation. I thought you were going to do just a small little oil build then then you oil GIANTED the heck outta that community Def a Candy Tycoon vibe in this one. My fave part is watching you using multi tools unlock feature - it’s best feature and its great to see someone using it to its fullest potential. Personally I would change the little commercial area around the workers building 🙃but that’s just upside down me My retrospective tip; 33:52 of your video you placed the oil storage facilities I would use them as light aircraft hangers for an airport. Left field observations tip #1 33:17 I can imagine a site Forman telling his crew to pick up the cable spindle Left field observations tip #2 Seeing as that basketball court is next to a stretch of water I bet the schools insurance policy is thru the heavens roof and I bet the first lessons learned at school are swimming and ball retrieval 1.0.1 yepperz shootin hoops wiv water wings (don’t ask me why tip #2 is after tip #1 unlike the videos running time - that’s something my kids will instantly call me out on as I haven’t the bananas how my brain works) Comedy roast #1 You really do take the fun outta cities skylines when it comes to us giving you advice!
