Have you tried this method? Do you have any suggestions? Have you successfully been able to remap the buttons?? Let us know!

It took me about five minutes to follow these directions, and I deactivated these buttons in two knock-off replacement remotes. No screws, but the same basic process. Thanks for creating this video! Well done!

Thank you for the tutorial! I absolutely hate bumping the Netflix button when I am watching something else. I don't have masking tape, but I do have duct tape and clear tape. Would either of those work safely?

Clear tape should work fine. Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

Hell yeah! Words can't describe how much I despise this trend of every stupid streaming service paying tv makers to have a stupid dedicated button!

Well done!! Some redditors have cut the pads out and replaced them with inert 3D printed flat black keys. This is simpler though the advertisement part still bugs me, but you’re not harming resale value which is a great option for people. Nice!!

Thank you so much for this video. My cat is constantly putting Netflix on & it's definitely not because she wants to watch it. Some of my remotes have obsolete buttons. In the middle of watching something, cat sits on the remote, takes forever to reload, then missed what I wanted to see. Accidentally drop the remote, same result. Hate these buttons with a passion. It's really not hard just to go to the menu & select what you want to see when you want see it without the headaches of these stupid buttons.

Can we change the function of that button? My remote control came with Apple TV button and would like to change it to something like HBO or KZbin

Unfortunately that would mean changing firmware inside the remote. There's no method for doing that. You can buy third party remotes that allow you to have editable channel buttons. Frankly, they're more trouble than they're worth. The cat or dog steps on your remote or your spouse sits on it by mistake during a crucial moment in the story of the game and you've missed the moment. Deactivating the streaming buttons is better.

I just tried this method. Unfortunately my screws weren't on the bottom like that. They are on the small side panel at the top of the battery. I also couldn't find a screw driver that would fit them. I tried the smallest ones I have for eyeglasses & AED trainers. I was unable to move the screws but I was able to dig the buttons out from the front. The screwdrivers tore right through the plastic. So buttons removed. Put a 3/4 in. piece of black electric tape over the holes. Remote works. No more cat changing the channels on me..

Goad to hear! 🐈 Yup they make those remotes hard to work on sometimes 😂

@@RuslanTulupov You'd think for all the people that very vocally hate those stupid buttons they'd actually listen to their customers once in a while & get rid of them. Couldn't possibly do that! Thanks for posting a solution.

I hit those buttons _BY_ accident, yes. Any plans to cover the newer remotes w/the sealed bubble contacts..? This method has no effect on them.
@RuslanTulupov8 ай бұрын
By accident* 🙏 No plans currently but I appreciate the suggestion. I would try and make a video if somebody wants to sponsor a victim remote to experiment on 😎

Both of my Roku remotes had the bubble clear film. One remote the rubber dome film was not glued at all and simply loose and keyed on plastic posts for proper alignment when putting it back together. I used some scotch tape to create a barrier between the rubber dome contact and the circuit board. Second remote was constructed a little differently and the clear rubber dome film was glued with some adhesive which I lifted just the bottom portion off the circuit board exposing the 4 branded switches I wanted to disable. This time instead of applying tape to the circuit board I applied it to the film under the rubber dome switches. Both methods taping worked on the two remotes. I used a flat end of plastic spudger tool to work the remote apart in both cases. Hope this helps someone.
