Perfect video mate. Exactly what I was looking for. Need to change the 7PSI standard spring I got in my IWG-75 to 17PSI and you showed me how it's done.

This video was helpful in making me realize I COULD make a twin-port IWG75 for my Subaru possible. Thanks!

No problem. Many people are affraid of turbos till they work on them.

@@NOTSOSLIMJIM I'm no stranger to working on and around turbos. The turbo that came on my current car came with an application specific IWG75, but I want to move to a twin-port unit. TS doesn't offer an application specific twin port unit, this video showed me that I can just swap out the arms and be done. Then recoup most of the cost of the twin port in selling the single! #winning

@@STimedic1 just make sure if you make or modify your own arm, you do it with the appropriate metal. Hardware store mild steel will deform or flex when heated.

@@NOTSOSLIMJIM I'd be swapping my Subaru specific actuator arm on my single port to the twin port unit so I wouldn't have to measure, heat and bend the universal arm.

@@STimedic1 sweet. If you have time, film it to share with others the process for your model to help them out.

Very useful video. I bought a turbo that had one of these on it already and obviously didn't wanna just throw it on and throw boost to the sky and lean to shit. I like my engine how it is.

My turbosmart iwg 75 rod is not straight same as yours so do you have any idea how to change the spring ? Because i have followed the steps you have done but .. cannot move the spring and lower support due to the bend in the rod
@NOTSOSLIMJIM5 жыл бұрын
You can unscrew the rod from the wastegate.

My cap is super stuck on there! I have removed the collar, but the cap is still on tight. Im trying to open it up to change the spring set up. I got a c clamp to try to compress the cover down but maybe I'm doing something wrong. On the video here soon as you got the collar off, the springs came right out, cover came right off. My cover just stays in place really tight

Try putting a nut on the end of the actuator arm and giving it a few light taps.

@@NOTSOSLIMJIM thanks, I got it off, used a pick to get the cover to move a bit & then kind of popped open. Seemed the diaphram material was pinched in there holding it, stuck. Now I have another struggle- my rod is already bent, the wastegate was on a turbo, with bent rod. So now I have the spring set up out of the cover, but its sprung tight in the rod set up, with the plates on both sides. Im not sure how to remove off the rod, its pretty tight! And to get a wrench in there, inside of the spring is tuff, and wants to strip what you put the wrench onto

I also see on your video using a torch to get to the loctite. Not sure if I should do that with the springs there mostly in the way. Also issue to get a wrench in there because the springs
@NOTSOSLIMJIM3 жыл бұрын
@@mcsqueegee81 you can also use a standard lighter to soften loctite. Spraying wd40 on the bolt may also help if it's rusted as all.

You were supposed to press down on the cover before spinning, sort of how you open a child proof pill bottle.

Thank you I need to upgrade my IWG75 psi spring

According to the turbosmart chart, they are very different measures than those shown in this video. There are no 11 pound spring.... does not exist, there are 14, 7, 5 and 3. They use colors not diameter to identify them

Turbo is, wastegate is MURICAN!!!

@@NOTSOSLIMJIM You sure about that? My IWG-75 has 'Manufactured in australia' written on the top. So more like.. 'Wastegate is made in STRAYA!!!'
