OMG OMG I didn’t believe in myself and I tried so many times and I couldn’t do it then I read the comments and so many people were doing it but I couldn’t even get my feet against the wall and I tried again but I didn’t believe in myself enough and I was really scared and of course I couldn’t do it and I gave up and put my glasses on and was just gonna continue with my day but a voice inside me kept insisting I try again till I get it cuz “if I don’t believe in myself and can’t take a leap in something as small as this then how will I do it in real life situations” and I tried again and really told myself that I will do it and after a couple of tries I DID IT I PUT MY FEET ON THE WALL OMG I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF! Also, it’s really not scary once you’re up there and the wall is holding you. One day I’ll do it without a wall, but for now, I’m proud! I did something I never thought I would be able to do. Thank you Cassey! ❤️

Let me tell you... I've probably done the beginner's calendar at least three times now, and every single time I skipped this video because I was too scared. But this time I finished the other videos and when I got to this one, I said to myself, "you know what? you might be able to do it, you might not. but you definitely won't be able to if you don't try." so i got my mat out, watched the video, put my hair up (i find a low pony works best), and I did it! Honestly, if you're scared like I was, that's okay. Just know that once you push past the fear and actually do it, the satisfaction you feel is so much greater. You got this.
@principessa3x9 жыл бұрын
After getting over the fear of snapping my neck and figuring out the right positioning I was able to get against the wall and then after trying that a few times I was able to hold it away from the wall for about 10 seconds. Definitely going to keep practicing until I can do the stag positioning! :D

I'll admit that I just can't bring myself to do this. There's something about being on my head that terrifies me even with the wall there. The truly ironic thing is that I used to do gymnastics, and this would have been nothing for me then. I think if I had a cushion-y floor like we used to have in gymnastics class or someone around to spot me I could work up the courage for it. I definitely want to at least wait until there's someone else around before I try it though. I definitely don't want to fall and hurt myself if there's no one here...

Advice from a yogi: Do not kick up. What I mean is, do not jump your legs up because you can really hurt yourself. Please, just dont do it! :) It can be frustrating to not be able to do a handstand and so many people will try to froce their legs up. Don't do this. Just be patient and it will happen. I love you all so be safe! Peace!
@OhRari10 жыл бұрын
Also!!!!! It is MUCH easier to pull the knee(s) into the chest and balance in a headstand egg :D So if it is way too hard to get your legs straight over your hips/body then try that. You can do it!

Try putting more weight on your forearms, from your hands/wrists to your elbows. That will help take pressure off of your neck. It should feel kind of like you are pushing the ground down and lifting yourself up while using your head for extra balance :) does that make sense?

Thank you for the video! I could never do a handstand because I am way too scared to put all my weight on my arms and wrists. But a headstand seemed much more stable and secure. I started by hopping a bit with one leg towards the floor and one up, so that I could catch myself. Then I started tipping the wall with my upper foot during this hopping just to get the feeling that the wall will be there and I can't fall over. And this hopping just got bigger and bigger until I finally was upright leaning against the wall. It only lasted maybe two seconds, but I was so proud of me. I will continue practicing this!

Tried this yesterday. It was easier than I thought to start the headstand thanks to this video. Hard part for me was staying straight without touching the wall. I think I was able to keep the headstand as long as 20 seconds before leaning back on the wall or falling forward. Still, though, I feel super accomplished that I did. Want to try more stuff like this. I've never done yoga or pilates, but my line of work would benefit from it.

Oh my goooodneeeess! I just did it! This is such a boost of self confidence. I could never believe I could do it! I was so surprised at myself when I found my legs up straight haha. I'm still at the point of standing against the wall but still, I have always been the least flexible person in the world, even as a child when all the other girls were doing these things I was the one who couldn't, like no way. And now, I've been playing this video for 3 or 4 times as I was coming across it in the beginner's and the June calendars and even though I was actually trying I never believed I'd get somewhere. But here I am! I don't know, maybe in the meantime I got more flexible with the other workouts and it helped me in the bit where you push and lift up, or maybe it's just pratice. This is to say, just keep trying because the moment will come when you least expect it! (Btw sorry for my English and my rambling, I'm from Italy and *also* very excited right now haha.) Again, such a blast of self confidence! Thank you Cassey!

I really had trouble doing this one! (im on the beginner's calender btw) I fear I will break a my neck or something. :( Because as I was trying to pick my legs up my neck and spine really started to hurt so i stopped. Is this even normal?! Any other popsters having difficulties as well?
@smileWITHme4eva9 жыл бұрын
If you're experiencing extreme pain, that's not good. However, you shouldn't be afraid to feel some pressure on your head/neck/spine area as you are prepping to lift your legs off the ground. Once your legs reach the wall, the pressure lessens.

Sameee... After a few tries like less than 5 tries I did it and I think I find a huge tip there and reason y some can't lift their legs off the ground(that was me on the first few tries)

Same here, but I used to do gymnastics and can do a passable handstand, so I guess that explains it...still having some trouble getting my feet off the wall though

I've been practicing this for a week, and I'm actually shocked that I can get up on the wall in one try now! That's a HUGE accomplishment for me. I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to do something like this in my life, but because it was on the calendar, I figured I should at least try. Thank you!

OMG Cassey! Thank you so much for including this video in the Beginner's 2.0 calendar. I tried the video the first time when it came out, because headstand is my next goal in my yoga practice, but I couldn't do it. I've been chipping away at it in yoga too, but it was your video that got me there!! Seriously - first time I tried, I actually found my balance without the wall while trying to get my heels TO the wall! I was so surprised I came down with a bang, and HAD to try again to see if it was real - and it WAS! And I could hold for a few seconds before coming down a bit more gracefully ;) THANK YOU!!! x

Thank you! All the other tutorials I've watched were not at all helpful, but finally, I was able to do this against the wall successfully (and a few seconds without the wall) on my first try because your instructions were so clear and easy! Now I'm obsessed and can't wait to watch your other videos to see what else I can try :)

As if I was born again I've never fealt such relief ... Health is wealth!!

MissMarieBeauty I practice like 3 cartwheels and I’m already out of breath. My mom says it’s because I need to work out more, not because I’m fat XD but because your body isn’t used to that pressure.

omgg I did this last year in my yoga class. I've never done it before (I'm not a gymnast or even that flexible) that time. And I couldn't believe my body did that! But for anyone that is too scared like I was, you should try and take a class or someone that knows how to do it-it helps! and even if you think you're too big and can't, it's all in your head.

The idea is that you balance on your arms, not your head, so try it without getting your legs up first then when you feel confident to put them up do it slowly

I can't believe I did it!!! This video has been the most helpful and has taken the fear out of doing it for me as a beginner. Thanks so much! My head didn't hurt either!
@KaylaTotts5 жыл бұрын
I tried this a couple weeks ago with a different video, and I was struggling to even walk my feet in to my face, much less kick up. I worked on my hamstring flexibility and I think it made a world of difference. Came back to this video, which was more helpful than the first video, combined with increased flexibility and I got it within 5 minutes. I’d suggest working on flexibility to anybody else struggling on that same step.
