You don't pick it up from a deadlift position, you set the KB a couple feet in front of you so your feet and the KB form a triangle. You then pull the KB back like hiking a football to start the movement with momentum instead of standing up and swinging in bigger and bigger arcs. This is meant to save energy especially when using heavier weights. Also she's not allowing her forearms/wrist make contact with her inner thighs before hinging her hips. She's initiating her hip hinge too early basically. Allowing your forearms/wrists to make contact with your body before hinging your hips is a kinesthetic cue that helps you activate the muscles around your pelvis and glutes. It's kind of like "catching" the KB with your body then throwing it back. Watch Lebe Stark videos for legit KB techniques

Really like tbis video and the comments from hero kb swingers using things, but bounce, squats for an exercise thats a hip hinge. You can do it both eats dwpending on what you want to focus on, if the aim is glutes, hip hinge wnd a good lower back then rhis is a good guide. If you struggle and want tonuse rhe arms on inner thighs and but bounce and not control the bell then rhats up to you. Younjust wont develop the hip hinge and inner core power that this exercise is great for (i like both but prefer the hip hinge)

Knees should absolutely bend to facilitate a proper hinge. Building momentum is a waste of energy and promotes a lack of tension. Starting in a deadlift position with the bell in front of you is the proper start position. Tucking your chin is absolutely wrong. You have vertebrae in your neck just like in your back. If you're going to keep your back straight why wouldn't you keep your neck straight too? Especially since you talked about not turning your head. Feet should be solidly rooted to the ground. It's nearly impossible to perform an effective swing in running shoes like that. Happy to help. 😎

Starting with bell in deadlift position in between feet only works for light bells. If you do it with heavier weight, you'll damage your shoulders. Best to start with weight a foot in front then hike the bell back. You'll have to do this with heavier bells.

You start with a weight that you can lift. Do the hinge and hip thrust/leg straightening. If you find there's no resistance, it's too easy, or you feel you can't control the bell because it's too light, then go one weight up.

@@McThaison200 your coach is definitely doing it incorrectly. it sounds like she is lifting the bell above her head, which is totally incorrect. bending arm and holding it close to the body is a technique used by people for better control of the bell. holding it by the body also keeps your body tighter. if you're interested on how to do any type of kettlebell exercises, i suggest you look up the vids put out by bodybuilders. you can recognize them because they have bulky muscles. hannah eden puts out great videos on how to do various kettlebell exercises. you have to note that kettlebell exercises are considered advanced and proper form must be followed. she gives excellent detailed instructions and demonstrates how to do them.

The first two comments here are spot on. With swings you actually don't want to "start light to focus on form" because the movement is based around efficiency. Therefore a heavier weight (but something you can still handle) will sometimes force you to do it properly whereas you could just manhandle a lighter weight.

Don't be so harsh. There are tons of so-called personal trainers on KZbin who are just as bad. Lol

You should not be instructing kettlebell.

There are tons of people who shouldn't be teaching kettlebell swings. Another is Dr. Balduzzi on the FitFatherProject channel. He doesn't allow posts that he doesn't like. I just asked what kind of doctor he is and my post was deleted the next day.

Good effort but unfortunately this is not how you swing the bell. You need to learn before you teach. Cheers and good health to you

Not misleading at all. Clueless is more accurate.
