THIS VIDEO IS WRONG! DO NOT FOLLOW IT! Your hands on the floor should be just a little out from your shoulders, and when going down, your elbows should be sticking to your torse, at an angle of 20-40 degrees, and not sticking out perpendicularly, making a T with your body.

Breezy Breezy True. But that's how I saw more and more 'experts' tell how to do it. In fact, they said that sticking your elbows out perpendicular to you body is one of the most common mistakes in doing a push-up. Also, it should hurt your shoulder(-joint), if I'm not mistaken (if you do it as shown in this video, that is).

Yes you should not be aligning your shoulders and elbows. Instead make sure that your hands are outside your chest with elbows in line with the bottom of your chest. Come by our page for more videos! :) B Nishanth

Damn. I do 6 with no issues apart from the 6th one kinda on the first set. Second set I managed to do 2 and by the third I couldn't lift myself off the ground. took a 10 sec brake had some water. did 4. got onto 5 went down and stayed there . I think I need to do these for a few weeks do even do beginner .

What @Aaron Thompson said is almost right, it means 6 push ups 3 times during workout. 3 times a day is too much time between each set. If you do not do them in a group, I would recommend about 6-8 times a day, perfectly random situations :)

I've been taught differently, your bended elbows should be pointing in the direction of your leg, instead of outward.

well try doing tricep extentions with very close elbows andy ou will feel the inner tricep nad on benhc press the wider the grip is the more chest u r using!

This is very wrong, your hand should be right under your mid section of your chest, so your working your triceps, and barely your biceps. Push ups are meant to target chest, triceps, lower shoulders, and back. NOT biceps.

Fluffi Fluffsson Because if its under your shoulders your targeting your biceps more than triceps because your hand/palm would be in an awkward position. Push up are supposed to target the triceps lower shoulder chest and upper back. Not biceps :D gd luck man. Its hard :D

Well, there are several different types of pushups, but I agree. They are mainly for training triceps and chest and secondary for shoulders and upper back.

Last summer when i woke up i used to do 5 sets of push ups. First set 35 then 30 then 25 then 20 then 15.

i can do a hundred for the first one set, then 50 for the next 5 or 6 sets with 2 minutes rest interval

+Chez Plays Not sure if this was meant to be sarcastic, but for those who really don't know, Reps are the amount of times you do the exercise. In this case, 1 rep=1 pushup. Sets are the amount of reps you do at one go, 1 set=6 reps. So if the recommended is 3 sets of 6 reps for beginners, it basically means you do 6 push ups, rest for a bit, do another 6 push ups, rest for a bit and yea. Isn't it? Correct form + pushup movement phase 3 sec.... then it is not that easy. If in movement phase you spend 0.8-1.5 sec then of course its easy to just jerk around and add few more reps to your count....

start by doing them off of your nee's wile keeping your core straight and tight . do it for 30 secs straight don't count the reps just do as many as you can in 30 secs give it your all . then take a 30 sec brake and start again . do 5 to 15 full rounds / 3x a week . make sure to not to work out your chest every day like if you do one 5 round push up work out on monday . wait at lest 1-2 days after to do the routine again . why ? because your muscles need time to recover .
