SF6 is my first fighting game. Idk why but Chun-Li hooked me instantly and i always had problems to pull her charge moves. Your video helped me so much to understand how charge attacks work. Thanks!

the simplest way to explain charge characters is as follows. no matter whats happening on the screen you can hold charge. so for example, lets say i do blankas command normal forward medium kick(double knee bombs) into standing light kick into medium ball. this works because you start charging immediately after pressing double knee bombs and you build charge throughout the entire animation so by the time you press light kick you have charge. another simple example with blanka is dash, low medium kick, standing light punch into ball. so you do your double forward dash input and IMMEDIATELY hold back as your dash activates so that even though your dashing forward your building charge(like i said, it doesnt matter whats happening on the screen). so your charging during the dash and as you hit your 2 attacks so that you have plenty of time to charge the ball. note that charge characters where originally developed because japan thought western players would have a hard time doing dragon punches which is why guile was designed as a charge character. side note deejay is the only character to be designed by capcom usa.

Just got the PS5 and seen videos of balrog in SF5. If i could master him he would be added to my team. An now i seen gameplay of what deejay an marrissa look like an now i want to try charge characters. Plus the ps dpad sucks for fighting games so charge characters are my only way now

For charge inputs you do. You have to charge for about 3 seconds before doing the input

I’m guessing your referring to someone like Blanka. For him you would hold back a little before jumping and while your jumping to keep the charge

I still cant do charge specials in nuetral consistently. Im looking at my imputs and when it successful vs when its not doesnt look any different. I cant tell what Im doing wrong. My thumb hurts lmao

It probably means you aren't hold it long enough or your not realizing that you may have let go of the charge in certain situations. Charging takes about 3 secs to store

It can be done with joystick too but it’s not as accurate. It’s the same concept but dpad might turn out to be easier
