I just recently installed a Pioneer AVHX3800BHS and Esky EC135-05 back up camera. I followed all directions to a “T”. The issue I’m having is, when I put the car in reverse, the screen switches to an all black screen and says something like “The picture may be in reverse” and gives you the option to exit, however, no video from the camera is displayed. What’s confusing about this is when I manually view the camera using the Pioneer menu, the camera successfully works, and video is displayed from back up camera. FYI: I tapped into the reverse light trigger wire located under the dash, and connected to the Pioneer wiring harness that is labeled “reverse signal” to that. Also, I installed that parking brake bypass too if it makes any difference. Side note: Many tap into reverse brake light power, however, because the Xb bulb is located in the bumper, I ran a separate power and ground directly to a 12v accessory source (red) and chassis ground. What could be going wrong? Is it a setting in the stereo? I’ve ran through the menu several times, no luck.

Great video, I have the x5800 all hooked up and I am using wireless adapters for the back up camera, all works great when I put in in r, video comes on but when I go into d, the main radio screen will come back on then it will go back to a blank screen that is a video image screen but black, it says the images may be reversed and all that so that's why I assume its a video screen, I touch it and it goes back to main screen but after a few seconds it does it again until I turn it off. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated its driving me crazy. Thanks guys.

Hi guys just installed a pioneer avh -x3800bhs into my 2003 focus I run a front camera so I can see when pulling car onto tow dolly and rear camera for backing up.I love this radio, watched your vid on how to watch net flix. got the I simple media and the Kenwood cac3av for the aux jack and a hdmi cable and hdmi to lighting adapter everything works perfect, I even get turn by turn gps from my phone. my question is there any way to play hd radio or any music while using I phone for gps

Chad Marcigan the 4800 does not have front camera has a feature. You can use the AV input on the 4800. It will just not be selectable though the camera menu.

Hi, Its a long shot but hopefully you can answer my question. I have installed the reverse camera, works great. I have then installed the second camera following your video instructions however i am getting no video when i select the second camera. I have it plugged in the right yellow slot, triple checked. All the settings on my AVH X3800 are correct. I'm assuming theres a problem with the power to the camera, where should power for the camera come from? directly from the battery? from the stereo? if from the stereo, which wires for positive and ground? this may seem like a simple question but i've been scratching my head with no results. I've currently grabbed power from the red wire off the stereo and have the camera grounded to the chasis. Thank you

I can't remember for sure but im pretty sure my problem ended up being that my ground to the chassis from the camera wasnt getting 12v (ie too much resistance) and once i moved the ground it worked fine. Read the instructions for the stereo as i can't remember if i got positive power from the stereo or from the battery for the camera (but i reckon it was the battery).

I have this avh-x5800bhs installed on my kia, just purchased the pioneer ND-BC8 reverse camera and got it installed on my car, camera works fine, but it doesn't give me the yellow/red guiding lines when I'm in reverse to notify me when I'm getting too close to a car. Am I missing something here? I click on camera settings but it doesn't give me the option to set that up.

I have a 09 F-150. I'm going to install camera-source's ford emblem rear view camera and It has rca connector. How would I connect it so when I put truck in reverse the camera comes on? So that truck should need a smart harness to replace the radio( unless it is the base model). Pac- Audio make the RP4-Fd11 smart harness with steering wheel controls all in one. That harness also has a trigger for reverse lights. On the Pioneer there is a input for reverse trigger. You have to run a power and a RCA to the rear of the truck to plug into the camera. The 2 radios are totally different and the price reflects that. You may want to split the difference and go with the 4100.

+Ram O the replacement for the 4100 is the 4200 and will be out in March. The main difference is the navigation and the capacitive touch screen. The 4100/4200 has the clear resistive screen.

Jacob Villegas the radio does not have a trigger for the front camera. You just turn it on and off. If you get something like the PAC Vs41 you can do it though.

Thanks so much for all the great info and your quick response! Not sure about your suggestion, since this bar style camera looks like one that hides in plain sight and could easily get stolen. Also, it isn't the most flexible solution to change the position of a frontfacing camera on the car. What I get out of your recommendation is to look for a regular rear view camera (that projects a reversed image) and a flexible one for the front. It's easy to get lost with so many (cheap) aftermarket options. Most do not specify how they project the image, so I have no clue what is standard.

This guy was able to somehow have the front facing cam turn on when in drive then turn off when he touches the screen. How did he accomplish this? i find its easier to see the front cam this way than to go to source and select camera view and switch front rear to front and then change sources again when done... only thing is, his method, once u touch the screen and the front cam goes away, how do u bring it back? i guess you gotta select the cam view this time?

He had the camera view mode on. This mode it the first setting in the camera settings. It comes on 10 seconds after the last time the screen was press. It will keep turning the camera view on until you turn off that feature. When on you can select front or rear view.

No, it is just turning on the camera RCA input in the radio. It does not put power back out of the Pioneers purple white reverse trigger wire.

Alberto Lira yes. You would need a 2 channel video switcher. Run both the cameras into the switcher the reverse trigger would be the same for both. When the trailer is connected switch it to two.

Alberto Lira you would need a switcher if you want it to come on when you put it in reverse. Check out the PAC Va-26, it is a little over kill but it will do the job.

The reverse wire can be found here Color:lt. blue Polarity:- Location:BCM, gray 72 pin plug (C1), pin 15 I would connect the red and black wire to wherever you have the radios red and black.

Problem is that camera has led's for night vision and they are always on now when vehicle is on. Am I now connected to correct wire but need different camera?

Mine does not have a switch. Came with radio as a package on Amazon. Surprisingly good picture quality. Great night vision. At least I know it is wired properly now. Can you recommend an affordable license mountable camera that has good night vision? I like grid lines but will consider without as well. Thanks for all the help so far. After self-installation of 5800 and ND-BC8 (Pioneer's rear-view camera), I finally realize there are no rear-view guidelines in both of them, which is totally disappointing. Pioneer even did not point this difference out on the product specification of their website. Hopefully, they will add this feature to 5800 in a future firmware update.

It will not plug in to the radio, the factory camera does not use the standard RCA's. That is not to say it can not be done, it will just take some testing.

i have a pioneer avh x8500bhs and i was wanting to install a backup camera, i installed a relay block to enable it to play videos with the flip of a switch instead of being in park and all that. With the relay installed will i still be able to install a camera and have it to automatically show on the screen one i put my truck in revers.

Gap Tyme CHR with this radio yes it does not have adjustable lines. The NEX Pioneer have adjustable lines and so do the Kenwood Excelon

hi, im using this player. currently it connected to front and rear camera. the rear camera left and right is showing correctly. but the front camera left and right is reversed. meaning if and object is on the left side outside, in the screen it appear on the right. any solution or setting for this?

Five Star Car Stereo I want one that actually fits where the AC buttons fit is the first thing. Second navigation specifically ones that are updatable and don't rely on phone data such as Android auto. Might seem impossible but as long as it has modern features such as Bluetooth and replace the AC space then it's fine

Does the reverse backwire have to be plugged in? Can't you just have power and ground going to radio and it's just always on when you turn the car on? You show that you can view the cameras anytime when not in reverse so why does the purple have to be hooked up?

Without the reverse wire you can still manually view your rear camera anytime through the radio menu and when you're done just manually exit the camera view. With the reverse wire it will automatically display the camera when in reverse. Also with or without the reverse wire you can view the camera anytime in the radio menu

Good question! That is definitely going to need to be a video. Yes you can do it. You will need a Ca-C3av cable to turn the Aux input into a AV input. We just did a video showing this on the 280/180. They do not have AV inputs only aux, you will do the same thing. You can then use the yellow AV input on the radio for front camera. Hey Guys, quick question on the Purple white/Reverse cable... You mention it needs Positive (default) voltage... Where would I connect this purple/white wire too ? Do i attach it to the red power cables when i connect harness cable ? any help would be appreciated . i have 2015 dodge ram with 5 inch screen... replacing it with 5800 and adding camera....

Did you buy the smart harness? If so it will have a reverse wire in the harness. Pac-audio is green Axxess is green purple. The camera power connects to the red. If you do not have a smart harness get one.

if my axxess harness has the reverse wire...i'd connect the revise wire from the Head Unit directly to that green/purple...i should also connect the camera's power (red) to this reverse green/purple correct ?

+Ls Chavez (LsChvz) yes it would. There should be a green/ purple reverse wire in the harness coming out off the brain box. ( doing this from memory so check to make sure).

Hi guys, I have a avh4200nex and i have hooked up both cameras and was wondering if there is a way I could turn on the rear camera to check what's behind me while towing but at the same time keeping the reverse feature. Also, could I hook up the front camera to a switch so I can put it to work without going through all the menu to select it, not sure if I can connect it to the purple blue, o guess since the rear is already connected there it would mess up everything. JR Armstrong when you are viewing the front camera in the bottom right there is an icon to switch to the rear camera. There is no short cut wire for the front camera.

You REALLY should have shown the inputs on the rear. The brown vs yellow inputs are confusing.

Cesar Diaz no, not like this. You can still use the AV input on the 7700 for a camera, it just does not have the camera switching. It will be under the AV source
