Thanks Guys! I have read about "greasing the groove" in a book by Pavel. You left out the most important part. His father-in-law had to do a pull up every time he went through a certain doorway in his home. That is how this works, pick something that will force you to do pull up or a one hand push up or my favorite one leg pistols. Love you guys!

Right after my 46th birthday, after eating Keto for a while and loosing around 80 pounds, I discovered by accident that I`m able to do pull -ups now , hihi.(The previous time I was used to hang a while on a bar daily to fight my backpains). Meanwhile I can even do more than 10 in a row !

Been working on pull ups on and off with Bob and Brad and Jeff Cavalier as video coaches. I'm 76. Have regained the ability to do one after decades of none. Have developed "latts" along the way, easily seen in the bathroom mirror.

I play a thirty pound accordion and I can lift 50 lb grain bags. I hand milk goats. But I am killing my lower back digging mint roots out of the garden. I feel challenged by your video here. I wonder if I can do a pull up! ....it doesn’t look hopeful... I love the “lowering yourself down.”....and staying fresh doing less throughout the day...my nerves need help. I have a rope attached to a broken branch that I pull to try to break that branch free. That seems close to what you are doing....Thank you guys for another great video.

Look forward to your videos so thanks so much for your efforts to keep us healthy! Suggestion: I realized when you were talking about the traps, that it would be helpful to all if you could flash up an insert of a drawing that highlights the muscles being discussed/targeted. Or even more low tech, hold up larger size drawing of the targeted muscles just so we better visualize. Thanks again!

Oh man, I was trying to do pull-ups.. I have one that goes in the doorway because my walls can barely hold a screw for a picture frame. And a complete pull-up station. I just have no room in my humble abode.. with my fingers facing away from me (over grip?)I could almost do one, but I felt like I was going to rip off my left bicep which got injured a while ago.. I could do one, almost two, gripping with my fingers thowards me (Under-grip? Sorry English is my second language guys), but then my underarms were basically doing all the work and I don't aspire looking more like popeye more than I already do.. Even if I was a fan of his growing up. So with the ripping bicep and the risk of popeye arms, (Which I already have pretty much because of the work I do. I mean like it, I look like I could possibly knock you out, which I can't and would not want to but.. That aside.. I definitely don't need them to be more bulky since I am female and want to still look like I am a female, so I have stopped trying to go further.. But I wish I could though. It would be great to help my posture and actually help prevent injuries I think if I could work those back muscles like that. AND it would also just look so cool, you know, just nonchelantly grab the doorframe going into a store or restaurant and squeeze out a few like "Yeah, this is what I do all the time people" ;)

I found the number of pull ups I can do is dependent upon my weight. At 230 I could do 1 or 2, but at 180 I could do 10.

Shouldn't we do warm up before pull ups to prevent injuries? If we are going to do our pull ups through out the day should we warm up every time???

Not really a fan of the product shown. It's $90 and it's wall mounted. You could get a far better wall mounted pull up bar for that/slightly more. Edit: Did a quick search. You can get a good pull up bar for $40. Maybe even. Pull up bars can be combined with gymnastic rings also, which opens up a lot of possibilities. Even for seniors.

Any tips on building up shoulder strength after having said shoulder pretty much completely reconstructed? I'm 28, and last year had surgery to repair my torn labrum, a bankhart tear, hill-sachs lesion, and some bone chipping. I used to be able to do pull ups all day long, but now I'm hesitant to put that much weight (I'm not exactly super heavy, at ~145lbs) on my already compromised shoulder. I did months of PT, and have been doing mild workouts with fairly light weights, but I'm not entirely comfortable having that shoulder hold 50% of my body weight. Anything you guys would recommend to build up shoulder strength that my physical therapist may have glossed over so I can do stuff without worrying that I'm going to dislocate and destroy my (really expensive....haha) new shoulder?

This is great! Appreciate all the different scales for the pull-up and how you said be fresh and not sweaty for the greasing the groove routine. Please research the Nitric Oxide Dump workout by Dr. Zach Bush. I am doing this for high BP. Would love your input.

@alanawolf15563 жыл бұрын
@@bartgallant6897 This makes good deal of sense. I do wonder, however, how realistic it is for someone who is 60-something and has little to no fitness history. I imagine that could be a years-long journey, assuming they're (rightly) being very conscientious about avoiding injury.
@alanawolf15563 жыл бұрын
@@roberto125919 So true. My grandfather played tennis DAILY until 90; he slowed down a bit after that - eventually you're dealing with a breakdown in mechanics. Now, I'm not saying he moved like a 20 year old, but ladies were still complimenting his formidable calf muscles when we'd go to the grocery store in his 80s 😁. If you can get in the habit of an active lifestyle before the laws of entropy come round - and I'm betting genetics has some play in here too as far as when that occurs - you can discover your personal version of what "strong like bull" looks like.
