Hey Jeff, I am 60 and have been working on my pull-ups for 6 years. I do 100 pull-ups and use a 3 minute egg timer in between sets. It takes me 8 sets. I used your technique and it helped. Thx for the great videos.

thatkindofguy234 I follow Dr Ben Boccichio. He’s in his 70’s and looks amazing. His theory is work to failure. He teaches seniors. I just did my push-ups. 200 of them, 3 minute egg timer in between. Work to failure each set. Nice to keep the workouts shorter than 30 minutes. Then do something different the next day.

@@jamesdellaneve9005 what advice would you give to someone that can do a few pull ups but not go high enough to be able to pass the bar, beacuse of not being able to fully bend one arm much beyond 90 degreese?
@jamesdellaneve9005
@jamesdellaneve9005 3 жыл бұрын
@@djam7484 I would get some exercise bands. I used a very thick one which allowed me to do many more reps than just pulling on my body. You tie the flat band on the bar and step on it. It works great. I did this for a year. One time, I was in a hotel and had my round exercise band. I had it attached to the door. I was down on my knee and because the band is much weaker than my weight was doing 20 to 30 reps. I got very sore doing it this way. BTW, I have a left arm that can’t rotate and doesn’t straighten all the way. As a result, I can’t do planking. Just modify and see how it goes. I use perfect push-up device for push-ups because of my weak left wrist.

Jeff I absolutely love the pull up contest. I got to tell you this means a lot to me to watch you guys do this ... because when I was 59 years old in 2007 ( I'm 75 now) I set my goal to be able to do 60 pull-ups in my 60th year and 3 months into my 60th year I hit 68 pullups. I gave myself a few more minutes between sets of 10 maybe I gave myself 5 minutes and then maybe near the end I gave myself maybe 20 minutes but after that it didn't really matter cuz I was done. Now I'm 75 years old and my goal is to do 75 pull-ups and I got to tell you this s*** is really hard at this age but I'm up to 30 pull-ups I just started in January this year. And I'm going to the New York State Fair I'm going to the recruiters for the Marines, Army, Air Force Reserve, Navy and the Coast Guard where they have a pullup challenge. I'm going to do pull-ups for those guys and I'm going to walk away with really good t-shirts so that's my motivation. I love your channel I tell everybody at the YMCA about it that they got to watch you. you know exactly what you're doing you are the best coach. you explain stuff and you do a really good job. you really helped me and motivate me. so thank you!

I just tried this. I got to 50 in 7 sets in around 7 minutes. I think the only reason why I was able to do this so quickly is because a few days ago I finished the 22-day pull-up challenge. I'm sure that helped. I think Jeff made the mistake of going beyond 10 on his first set. He got a bit too close to his max rep, and that makes a huge difference on the amount of reps you can do in the following sets. Here's how it went for me: 1. 10 2. 16 3. 24 4. 30 5. 36 6. 42 7. 50 (I was hanging for a few seconds between each of the last 5 reps). If anyone's interested, I'll be posting a video soon with the results of three 22-day (pull-ups, push-ups, and posture) challenges from Athlean-X.

I got a pull up bar for home at the beginning of september and since then the majority of my pull workout has been pull ups and chin up forms, 2 days out of the week. I reached 10 max (weighing 160lbs) rep last week and I've never done pull up before in my time starting to work out since beginning of the year. I got 9 reps today for a 40 rep challenge, it took me 10 sets to complete: 9, 4, 4, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 3, 2. All I can say is I am proud of how well I did even if I went in thinking I could do it in less. Still got my "pro" card barely lol, better than what I think people I know could do. I think I could squeeze out one set adjusting the reps better. Maybe even get to the last pro level 11 sets by doing fours and couple less in two remaining sets. Same probably goes with Jesse. Have to try with this method soon again. Thanks for the nice video again! update: I wanted to try this again the very next day although I was still a bit sore from the previous attempt.
