I have always worked with patterns but never made my own. Where I worked, we had a person who designed and cut, we sewed the garment. A designer never shared his knowledge or mentored anyone. You are an incredible instructor. Thank you!

Wow, so helpful! I don't have a dress form, or muslin, and draping is probably far off for me, but this tutorial makes it seem like something I will be able to do! I had actually wondered how you keep it symmetrical. Turns out, you just do one side and flip over the pattern paper/fabric haha. Which sounds like a much better idea!

Great work. I have truly enjoyed this tutorial and find it among the easiest to follow; now I have a better understanding of basic draping and know how to get started. Can you plz do a video on who to drape a simple garment with a soft flowy type fabric, perhaps on the bias?
@SewAnastasia7 ай бұрын
I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely consider making a video on draping with a soft flowy fabric on the bias.

question 🙋♀️ i’m a self taught seamstress. in your video you said “add seam allowance”. my question - i work with 4 way stretch fabric (spandex). should i allow seam allowance or not? what’s are the draping tips while working with stretch fabric thx
@SewAnastasia5 ай бұрын
Yes you will still need seam allowance. 1/4 or 3/8. You will need to stretch your fabric out the designed amount when draping with knit.

Hi, how does one breathe if you don't have ease? Unless it's a knit, or you are the exact size of the mannequin, it won't fit properly. Most fashion schools and books would tell you to add ease.
@SewAnastasia Жыл бұрын
Great question. If you are making a tailored fitted bodice like this then it needs to be a tight fit with no ease. I am the size of the dress form. You always want to work on one that is your size or pad one out to make it your size. Ease is for lose fitting items. If it’s a knit then it is usually smaller then the form. I wore the dress for my engagement photos & it fit great! There are pics on instagram if you go back about 3 years. Also I have a BFA in fashion design!
