Mark!!! I have some suggestions on videos!! 1. skin. more specifically, skin blemishes, like moles, freckles, pimples, large pores, wrinkles, and scars. 2. Native American/African/Hispanic faces. skin color, how to do their common nose and eye shape. 3. extremely curly hair, like on an African. maybe some dred locks? or corn rows. 4. a nose from a straight on perspective. how to proportion correctly is my problem. 5. fat. how do you draw chubby faces, double chins, told of tummy fat or fat pushing against the inside of a shirt. 6. how to draw very thin people. like, can see ribs and hip bones, the sternum and color bones clearly. 7. Zombies. how to draw rotting flesh, exposed bone, bite marks in human skin. 8. How to draw dirt on a face and hands, a very unclean person. 9. clouds. the shaping and shading of a rainy day. 10. transparent objects or people. something with a definite shape, but are able to see other things or people through them. .. thank you!!

Above the cupid's bow (the curvy bit that is VERY TRAGICALLY and all-too-frequently over-drawn or completely drawn-in with lip pencil, these days, to REMARKABLY ill effect... ahem...), that indentation thing (the two lines) is called the philtrum. May God bless you for sharing your unbelievably generous (and hilarious) videos with the world (hah, Welcome to Nostrilline, home of The Valley of the Upper Lip... you rule! :D Finally, a hearty BRAVO to thee for winning the Best Diction of Every Art Tutorialist in the History of KZbin, EVER! I just wanted to say that I watch you all the time and I absolutely love your videos! I love drawing so much (I usually draw on my papers at school and my teachers are just like, "there she goes again with the drawings") i find it so relaxing and fun to draw people and usually whatever my imagination makes up! Your tutorials are my favorite because you are a very talented drawer and I love how you are funny in the videos as well and very relaxed, it feels as if I'm being taught by a friend, it's more comfortable to watch and listen to! You are very informative and give great advice! I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. After watching your tutorials, I notice some things that I might've not have noticed before and pay attention to certain details that were that missing piece in making an "ok sketch" into a "great one"! Watching your videos help my drawings grow in realness (is that a word? eh whatever) and they look more like what my mind pictures them looking like! Anywho, I hope you have a wonderful new year Mark! (:

Mark, you should write a comic with all your HTD-characters - Old Man Timelapse, Detroit-guy/Surferdude, the gouache-pirates - and how they journey into weird places like the the Valley of the Upper Lip to learn the ancient art of dropping one's pen. You know, all your silly comments create stories in my head. They really make my day. :)

I agree with your comments; the structure between the nose and the mouth (especially the upper lip) is one of the most difficult things to get right. I have drawn loads of figures but I am always anxious about the face and the final nose and mouth combination. It can ruin hours of work and make me throw out an otherwise acceptable drawing because it becomes too difficult correct after three-four amendment. Other parts of the body can be redrawn, but the nose and mouth can quickly become a farce if it is not done right!
@shellsto76958 жыл бұрын
+Sam Samoa You're exactly right! I would get so frustrated after working on a drawing for hours, days, weeks, etc, and having everything look how I wanted it to, then getting to the face and just destroying all that work. You can only erase and redraw so many times before you start showing your frustrations and making lines too dark, erasing too hard, leaving a track in the paper from too much pressure on the pencil, etc. until you just have to start over. Writers have writers block, sketchers have the philtrum and cupids bow. I found that changing my drawing order really helped, instead of saving the part I dreaded til the last steps, I started doing it first and working from the inside of the face out (including the face shape), I didn't have to worry about proportions in relation to the size of the head anymore, and if I got frustrated and needed to start over, I wasn't tossing out a lot of work I liked yet couldn't salvage.

I can't disagree with you, and I have started doing this by drawing the head separately as practice, but only sometimes Further, as you know, some positions are harder to draw than others. Still, I want to have the confidence to to know that I can start a piece knowing that I won't ruin it by drawing an awful face! Anyway, I only draw A5 sketches at the moment and I use art as a magical trance, putting myself into an alpha state and carrying the image I am drawing around in my mind. If I get it wrong, or I simply don't like it for other reasons (the shading may be wrong) then I start again. I want to imprint the image on my mind, both as a picture and its emotional content; if I have to keep redrawing it until I am dead, then so be it. What else is there to do? ATB

Hi Mark, with all the amazing work you did on the shading, would it ruin the drawing of you had smoothed it with a cotton bud or blending stump?
@anthonylongoria26388 жыл бұрын
maybe maybe not. depends on how you do it i guess. itd make it more smooth obvious but lips do have more small creases on them. so it depends on what youre going for i suppose. if you color it and they have makeup on less lines can make more sense, but more shine may be needed, for naked lips itd be better t leave the lines in my opinion
