In this art video I draw in my sketchbook and talk about how to draw from imagination. I talk about mistakes I made when first learning to draw and what you can do to improve your drawing skills. Thanks for watching!

Thank you, I think you really said it well. The hierarchy if shapes is real but seeing how you interpret them is incredibly appreciated. I too skipped that step like oh I just want to draw. As I strive to be better I've grown to appreciate the way different artists minds inform them and its great to hear your thoughts and logic. Thanks again for taking the time ✌

yo drawing is a lot like math or learning a language. there's tons of little things you have to spend time learning over and over again until your brain can recall them automatically and even then you still gotta look up a formula or a conjugation if you forget it. it took me forever to get where i am. i agree with you. i can draw hyper-realistically all day but it's really not fun obsessing over every detail for 50-100 plus hours. these days people just scroll right thru those types of drawings anyways. i focus on drawing however i want to and i don't care about numbers. i've spent hundreds of hours drawing from life in figure drawing and other drawing classes in art school. it's definitely helpful to have all of that experience and foundation bc that's what it took for me to get even halfway where i want to be. just constant drilling and being shot down over and over again. i've learned if you don't like where you are in art or life add more time and effort and tune out the things that are slowing you down. i really like your videos and how you explain things.

It is Videos like this that I think are Missing from a lot of channels related to Art. Knowing the Basic and how and Why to do things is a part that is Missed a lot of tines. Hearing Why this or why that is very much Appreciated. To me Videos like this are Super important and Useful. It was a “Game Changer” for me once I started to really see things in 3D Space on the Paper. I also think that the Whole “Stay Loose” thing you talk about has helped me as well. I would definitely like to see more Videos like this, thanks for sharing this information.

Woah, I just found you, but even 5 minutes in, I got a ton of information just from one video. I’m not a beginner, I’m more intermediate now, but I still realized I have a lot to learn. I’ve got out of the stage where I was focused on the basics as a high school student, and have been doing more poses and backgrounds, and I really want to draw from imagination. I love doing realism, but I still want to branch out from that. :DD Thank you so much for this video!

Thank you for taking the time on making these really informative videos trav, you explained that extremely well, i too skipped that step of practicing and nailing the the basic human form for the sake of making cool drawings and in turn it's hindered me artistically. I will sure act on your advice man and fill up sketch books with just quick human poses an start paying more attention to the form an structure of the body. Thanks again man for your time in making these videos and all your drawing videos in general, they're extremely teachable and entertaining to watch really appreciate your content.

That shapes look easier when you make it but it is so disproportional when I draw it. I'd like to learn more about shapes

Excellent video!!! Very informative. Thanks for breaking the information down. Much appreciated. I think your daughter is gonna be a killer illustrator if she continues at the pace she's going with guiding her. Looking forward to future videos. God bless you and your family.

I have sort of an inverse of the problem demonstrated here. I mainly have problems drawing things from references. Either I find the references uninteresting or I just don't really know how to translate what I see onto the paper.
