markcrilley , I honestly don't know what I would have done without your videos. Usually, I find KZbin drawing videos unhelpful, but recently, I've discovered - or rediscovered, as I remember seeing a few of your videos maybe a year ago - some extremely good ones! I'm twelve, and I love writing and art. I'm writing a graphic novel, and since it's my first attempt that I think is a good idea, I need to be thinking about how to draw characters. I've drawn my main character before, but I want to change him. Thanks again, LaalByersGaming !

Hey Mark. Could you make a video showing how to draw the eyes of a child and how it differs from the eyes of an adult? I feel as if either my young characters look extremely mature for their age or my adult characters look so young its hilarious. ID REALLY APPRECIATE IT! YOUR AWESOME

child eyes are more of a round-ish type of eyes aand adults are more like...well....like the adult eyes in this video..may not be much help....its probably better if he explainns...
@YiPeaches
@YiPeaches 10 жыл бұрын
In case you were not aware, he did a video on drawing three different of people; he did male female separately. It is realistic and not manga, though. A manga child's eyes are very round and large, while an adults eyes are more narrow. Everyone's style is different though; when I draw manga children I tend to make their eyes very large and square, while my adult eyes are narrow and very round on the top and flat on the bottom. Also, a child's eyes typically have more highlight bubbles while adults have only one or even none at all. Plus, older characters often have small lines directly underneath their eyes; the older the character, the longer the line. I hope that helps you, since it would be an awfully long paragraph to read if it is bosh. :)

Eiichiro Oda does a ton of eye variants in One Piece from the 2 lines and a dot for Luffy to Akainu's sleepy realistic Japanese elder eyes. Speaking of which Nico Robin appears to be an exception to the typical female anime face where she has generally small eyes as well as a prominent nose bridge. Also I'm curious how fast it takes to do just one panel from blank sheet of paper to finishing the inking?

Can you draw a child's eyes? I get confused between a girl's and a boy's eyes, when they are young. Also, how do you add wrinkles to clothing? When do you know you have to little or too much? What are some action poses for females? (That aren't all boobs or but.)

Hi Mark, I know I have a one in a million chance that you might see my comment but I just wanted to take the chance. I have been following your tutorials for about 7 years now, I just wanted to tell you that you inspired me and it was manga that my Grandad and I bonded over. I have wanted a tutorial book of yours for a very long time. My Grandad passed away almost two years ago and today I looked in his old art room where I found “Mastering Manga” and “Mastering Manga 2” books, so not only did you inspire me and help me improve but you did with my Grandad before he passed and I just wanted to say thank you.

Can I pleassseeeee ask u a HUGE question Mr. Crilley?? All eyes go from the outside to the inside? In other words, even when the head is turned 3/4 , the eyes act as thought they curve like you are seeing them from the front? I am having trouble trying to describe it: but for example, you put the eyelashes on the female eye on the outside of the first eye, then on the outside of the 2nd. This is how the perspective works? Sorry if it doesn't make sense. I am learning so much and just excited while I am typing too! haha
@RoccoDesta
@RoccoDesta 10 жыл бұрын
It just doesn't look right on the inside :P Also if you look at your own eyes in a mirror you will see that the lashes are more clear on the outside. Does that make sense?

The iris of the left eye should actually not be condensed considering the eyes are looking at the viewer. That is, if you're going for (semi) realism. I just noticed this and thought I might point it out. I'm not trying to be Mister Know-It-All or anything. You're definitely a more seasoned artist than myself. On another note, I find many of your videos very helpful. Appreciated and subbed.

Well, I'm not sure if you already do this but I would recommend doing the same step for each eye at the same time (If you draw the top of the eye, draw the other top of the eye on the other eye) so if you mess up, there if fewer erasing and (most likely) will be about the same level and the same size. Hope I helped.

I understand how you feel. There are days where you just want to chuck your art supplies out the window and burn your pictures. And watching other artists who can draw a perfect eye in a mere 2 minutes, can make the feeling worse. But, all artists go through it. Some more then others. There are times where you just have to walk away and then come back to practicing, and eventually your style will evolve in to great works of art. :)

Who here is still learning.o/.Let me remind you one thing most people just started drawing manga(if you started drawing a year a go this still counts)and your saying 'My drawing looks horrible' or 'I should just give up on drawing now'Well Mark is where he is now though a lot of time and practice and he never gave up.You should always keep trying you'll get there some day. P.S you'r not going to get better over night be patient with your self.The time will come when you'r happy with your drawing

I started to watch this video to see how you markcrilley draw manga eyes and I tend to draw male eyes the same way you drew the male eyes in this video but not always and for female eyes I've never really stuck with any style what so ever

Although this is a "how to draw eyes video" I was really waiting for the tip of the nose and the start of the mouth. Just to see the expression on the male and female with these eyes. Oh well, my imagination can take care of that! Awsome video.

I have to be honest, at first, it appears as if his drawing is gonna be terrible or messed up, but it just turns out... so cool.

I'd love to see a how to video that covers facial expressions (sad, happy, angry, etc.) and how the physics of the mouth and eyes change to convey that expression
