Morning fella. Just watched the vid', brilliant. Can I ask you ? As a beginner, where can i purchase, a blending stick and also the erasers that you use, I just a cumbersome square rubber, its a pain. Having watched the late n great Bob many times, it was really good to see you do the graphite bit and trees, awesome, the only thing missing was a brush banging against the easel to get rid of excess paint. lol. Cheers again.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the comment, I use to watch Bob Ross for hours, I loved watching his demos, can I ask...are you in the UK or USA, because I can provide you with links where you can get the blending stumps and erasers.

Oh my gosh…so helpful!!! Most of my work is people or pet portraits. I have tried landscape drawings but have really struggled with them. Your work is absolutely phenomenal! I am very inspired to take on this new challenge….how fun!!! Your gentle voice so reminds me of Bob Ross. I watched him every weekend back in the day and was just in awe of his artistic abilities. Even though I work with all mediums, graphite is my favorite as it is easy to use and allows me to sketch pretty much anywhere without an elaborate setup or extensive supplies…my sketch book and a pencil case with a few chosen basic tools is all I need to create!

I have tried this 3 times, I have never ever drawn anything in my life. First try turned out ok till I over blended and smeared graphite powder all over lol, lesson learnt. I tried again on A4 paper and just yuk, so I went back to A5 and though my mountains are very steep compared to yours I am very pleased with the results. I did slow the video speed down if that helps other beginners reading this. Thanks Jon, for your no rush\stress tutorials

Your work is so delicate, I love it!! I wish my work was like that. I am 69 years old and have been painting since I was very young, but it is more like a hobby than a professional work. I had to work very hard to raise my daughter and lost a few years of my passion, now I am kind of starting all over again and trying to do my best. But you are great! Thanks for your tutorial, I really appreciate it.

The details of the trees in your work make the majestic mountains loom in the distance all the more awe-inspiring. What a beautiful scene. I can feel the coldness of the snow and the deep green-ness of the firs. This reminds me of the feelings I get when reading Sarah Orne Jewett's "The Country of the Pointed Firs." One of the several editions I have and my favorite is the one illustrated by Douglas Alvord. His work is similar to yours. Yet, there is more subtlety, in my opinion, in yours than in his. Thank you again for a path through the woods. I have attempted your woodland scene several times. My renderings give me great joy accompanied by a good laugh. Yet, there are elements within my sketches that show a bit of promise perhaps around the bend. What fun! "Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun" - Pablo Picasso. Though, I must confess, I do not understand the works of his later years, I can appreciate his view of the artist. Please keep transforming "a yellow spot into the sun." Cecelia

Hi Cecelia, Thank you for the kind words, its nice of you to take the time to send a comment and let me know you are making progress with your drawing, its also good to hear you are enjoying and having fun with the process. I will try my best to transform a yellow spot into the sun, Its a great quote! and I too have to confess I don't understand the works of Picasso, but that quote made a lot of sense.

@BuntstiftKunst8 жыл бұрын
+smoothie77 Yes I do! I tried this technique for a background of a cat drawing and it works great! I only had a problem with my electric eraser, because it was smudging and created some dark spots... I love just to take a tissue and some reasers, and go over my paper really messy :) Its much fun after all the detailed work especcially with colored pencil :)
@smoothie77drawingpainting8 жыл бұрын
+Buntstift Kunst Yes I know what you mean, sometimes I have had enough of drawing complicated line drawings and lots of detail, its nice to have a change of pace and relax, smudging graphite around and letting our imagination over-ride our concentration can be both relaxing and inspiring :)
