Ive been back to actively learning art for the last 6 years now and really needed to hear that last bit about shading being all how you want. When I was in grade 9 my art teacher more or less ruined art for me when she wouldnt let me shade the way I wanted (now mind you I was also struggling with fundamentals and was too ignorant to see how much you need those, so thats on me), I was constantly expected to draw realism when I dont have any interest in drawing realism, and it killed my desire to learn how to shade and ultimately to improve my art, and here I am years later basically being told by this video that as long as you have the fundamentals it doesnt matter how simple you shade thanks for that Marcel, im gonna keep that close in my art journey

I'm self taught with pretty much everything i've done with art but shading is where i'm having to go look for help. I am being told so many different things about which ways to do shading like which is right or wrong so I guess that last thing you said really helped with that.
