what you said is absolutely true ! if you are in D mode and if hold break also the Gear 1 is still engaged and it keeps on rubbing, putting to neutral is perfect in traffic even owners manual tells if the car is in halt put the gear to Neutral or park dont keep it on Drive mode for longer time (i checked in VCDS in my car, the gear is in engaged if you are in halt, and if its in D1, the clutch plates are having contact and rubbing against each other

While changing gear whether have to press brake or not.....and while starting car have to press brake or not

+Meiri Arzon when ever you go for a halt (even its a 10 sec halt) just put the DSG in from D (Drive) to N(Neutral) it will improve the life of gear box...

No need to use the gear lock also, just press the brake and push the gear lever to neutral. It will be easy in traffic too.

+Vinay Shreepathy If you ask abt TSI I can easily say VW 1.2 turbo charged engine is the best compared to Skoda 1.6 tsi but as you say TDI both have same engine and build quality so check which brand has better after sales network in your city.

it's not a good idea... it will stress out the system... especially in DSG .. I don't know about CVT

ssjtamil hd when you hit breaks on a dsg while on S or D it engages the clutch... so nothing to worry about... doing this won't give you any milage gain.

its a gud idea but for 3 secs i dont think u shld move to N . another idea is to move to P for longer haults n use hand brake. from wat i hav learned is that there is no neutral in dsg. its two hearboxes one with n 2 4 6 other with 1 3 5 . it always select two gears . to move smoothly from traffic u shld be soft on the pedel or it will confuse between 1 n 2 . any way u shld be extremely careful with dry clutch dsg. its better to buy a torque converter auto car if ur running is mostly city traffic.

It is right thise who wanna use money to repair must try video tips.. Dsg have a built in system when long press on brake to stop power flow to wheel... thats why when you leave brakr padle car take some milliseconds to flow power again to wheel.... try it If it is not then why your tacho have a brake padel sign when you car put in n or p?? Do t make your clutch to wear its too expensive
