1/ Lose weight 2/ Train more for explosiveness, less for endurance 3/ Focus on 'triple extension' - hips, knees, ankles. Improve any weak areas in any of those and develop strength and speed. Pretty much common sense. Comment if you want to see a series to help with this. Or don't comment, the series will be coming either way no doubt.

Thank you for taking my question. I enjoy your work and was hoping you might be willing to offer guidance from your perspective. I am 51. My desire is to improve my vertical jump. I am a 6’6” dunker/hooper who has been grounded due to weight gain and knee pain. My knee pain has decreased considerably, but I feel like I’m back in 9th grade trying to dunk happy to slap the glass. How often would you recommend I train legs? What kinds of exercises and frequency? I have been training with deadlifts and calves at least twice a week.

@@itsksultan Hey late. I know and know disrespect, I'm just a nobody on this amazing platform nameth the world wide web. My question if you see this though is why seek guidance from him and not a doctor? Which I'm assuming you have since you know you have said problem and you said you're grounded. If it wasn't a surgical problem, you know take your preventative measures and work with the physical therapist(yeah I know-i don't care much for em either) but in some situations they are very useful. Like I said I mean no disrespect. Our bodies, there are temples and we got to preserve them. There's some really advanced treatments/modalities that can help and improve pain, functionality/ROM etc.....even repair(that aren't surgical)& really I guess what I'm saying is reflect n' match with how you feel on the inside. Like that 9th grade high schooler, ready to go out there and bang on some rims and sink some shots man. And again, I mean no disrespect, no tramping on toes and getting in your business. So if out of line; my apologies and all the best.

@XENOX-7774 жыл бұрын
You need to start lifting heavier, if you don't have weights to lift with then try pausing at the bottom of your reps then explode to gain some more explosiveness. Assuming you don't have weights and you have a backpack you can put as many textbooks in your backpack as you can, then tighten the straps a bit so it doesn't move around a lot when you have it on, then do lunge variations with it on. This will help you a lot if you don't already have weights. Try to do legs around two days a week and always stretch beforehand. Remember you wanna be exploding, so if you can do pause reps with the backpack on then do it, if not then just keep working out until you can pause it eventually, you'll start to jump higher.

abu sedut yo what’s up i was lowkey On the same workout routine as you that i made... i did it for 1 month and a half and I’ve gotten VERY explosive and my vert has increased... BUT i stopped weights training for this month to solely do plyos and speed work... jumping everyday will increase your vert faster than doing lunges.. jump squats box jumps, pogo jumps depth jumps will increase your vert. Look at ja morant for example he did. Hella jumps a day

I’m 6’2. I have a high vertical and I know I could definitely dunk when I was 5’11. I was able to rimgraze and lightly dunk the ball. But what are some tips I can use to get the right footing so I can slam it in there? I always seem to come up short when it comes to get high and slamming even though I have the vert

How to increase your vert: Step 1: Exercise your calfs Step 2: Be tall or wish for good genes Step 3: You can't. You're not just gonna get off the couch and instantly start jumping higher because you watch a KZbin video. This is years of jumping, running, and working out from an early age. Everyone and anyone that's can dunk or even touch the bottom of the net is outside dunking or touching net. Not watching how-to videos. You either can or you can't in everything in life and those that can, aren't sitting in the house, only those that can't. Think about it, whenever did a "how-to" video help you do anything? If your answer is anything, but "It didn't" maybe you should check yourself.
@TheNamezZ4 жыл бұрын
step 1 is hella wrong.... calfs are not the most important muscles for jumping.
