I just used the pin they use for an ipad reset, popped out easily, cheaper than the tool and smaller. I have a Seiko excelsior. Cheers.

Thanks for the great tutorial- I was sizing my Seiko and all of a sudden I noticed these tiny metal sleeves. I didn't notice them at first and put the pin back in without them. They basically slid right out. Thanks to your video I got it all figured out! Thanks!

Thanks for the fantastic post. The jig I purchased as a result of your demonstration was very cheap, quality is great and you saved me the time and money involved in taking my Seiko 5 to a jeweller. Add to that I'm an avid DIY exponent and it's been a great little learning experience and new skill 👌 All kudos to you sir and warm regards from us here in Tuckomnbil via Alstonville and East Ballina 800km north of Sydney. This really helped me add a link to a used Seiko Sbbn015 I bought from Japan. I found only one link for sale on the entire web! Other videos on how to do this just showed a pin that had a head to it similar to a small nail, and the collar just fit on the other side. I couldn’t figure out why the pin looks so different for the part I bought. I found this video and now I understand. I successfully just added the link myself.

I am going to order the tool on Amazon this week. Thanks for the link! I will certainly add my thoughts on how easy it was once I get it all accomplished. Oh, and by the way, you look very professional in your shirt, blazer and gloves. I admire people who take pride in their appearances. Good for you!

The Amazon tool/jig that is blue and costs $19 is a ripper. Very solid and well able and up to the task, but you probably have it by now, hope it work's out well or has done the job. Go well 😀 👍

I don't know if this is a matter of being older/newer models but this did not work for me at all on an SRPD55- Had to hop onto another video where they pointed out the arrows in the inner side of each link which indicate the direction you have to push the pin towards. They came out super easily, did not need a plier at all and there was no pipe

If you take a link out of one side will you have to take out other side?

I watched about 4 videos for removing Seiko links until this one that talked about what to do with the pipe if it falls out. This is a really important step and I was super lost when it happened to me, and confused why no video talked about how to put it back.

I am an experienced watch collector and forever changing straps on my luxury watches. I have been collecting prospex seiko watches and have around 6. Just recently brought my first one on a bracelet and I can tell you it is the hard thing to resizing the damn thing. It's the bloody small pipe which is a pain in the backside. Bet thing to do and they didnt mention it on in the video is to remove the strap completely from lug to lug a s adjust the strap that way. Doing it with the case there is a massive problem.
