Motion Capture is something I get asked many times, how to clean it and what tools to use to get the best results. With this video I aim to answer both, and hopefully shine some light and help some of you take your mocap game to the next level. Please drop a comment with suggestions or feedback.

I got a motion capture test with a big triple a company. Since I'm a hand key animator I did not know what to do but now I can actually develop a new workflow, thanks for the video! Helps alot

Battlefront II have had a rough time-line, but the last months has been great. I don't know what i would do without the game right now, it is my main game, i play it so much! I've kept my faith in the game for a long time, for a very long time! I am excited to see the future of this game.

BF2 is the only game I actually play. I’ve followed everything since before launch. I hope it’s supported for a long time more! I want to see it be the Ultimate Star Wars game ! Keep working hard on it. You’re right that it means a lot for the community!

the Count Dooku animations are fantastic! they really capture the feel of Darth Tyrannus, and some incredible lightsaber animations.

Thanks Scope! Darth Tyrannus was a lot of fun to animate, we are all super happy that the community as a whole approves of the look and feel.

Great video, as usual so interesting. Best thing about your videos is that the true passion for animation shines through in every second. Animators are not in the spotlight enough. Keep it up!

Que tal Franco. Thanks a million man, maybe next time I can have you and Mark in the video, so we can chop it up together, with the whole Red9 Team. You both are wicked at what you do, and I hope we get to work professionally again at some point. Glad you dig the new setup. It's slowly evolving. :D

We have our ups We have our downs But in the end You always come around. Don't know if that was a good poem, but BF2 has been through a lot, and I've kept faith in the game ever since I waited in line to get my deluxe edition on midnight and through the many months after. I am over the moon to see the game has turned around and has been in a positive outlook for months now and I cannot wait to see what is in store. BTW, I absolutely love Dooku, one of my favorite characters to use in the game now.

Hi Harvey!, awesome video thank you. I’m already working in a mocap animation test for a AAA studio , but it’s in motion builder ,for me it’s more difficult than maya for work. You in DICE only use maya ? Or motion builder to?. It would be very good if you could make a video about the workflow in motion builder
@harveynewman

Hey Gonzalo. Thanks a lot man. And congrats on the test hope you nail the job. We use both. And both have their positives and negatives really. I know the very basics of motion builder not a pro at it and always prefer to do my clean up in Maya. I find it much more flexible and I can tweak things at will.

Hey Hamza. This was meant to be more of a introduction to Red9 and show how I used them. These tools although they look simple, there's a ton of useful features. If you want to learn all the details you should watch Mark Jackson's tutorials here: vimeo.com/user9491246

Could you explain me the difference between an animator and a technical animator? So animation (alongside other things) is not all abou numbers but how they feel and look, right? I have to say that Battlefront is my favorite game, and as I said in your last video (don’t know if you read my comment) I’m really liking where everything is going. And about feedback I feel somethings (that I think could be improved) aren’t a priority because nobody shares my same interests, and I know all of you can’t do every single thing everyone wants, but for example, I love Dooku’s animations, but I think his air attack doesn’t fit with him since it’s too similar to Luke’s while Obi Wan’s is exactly the same since the December update, and I know it’s not something very game breaking and even less a priority but while I know Ben (and Jay too) are always reading everything we don’t really know what’s being noted. Of course all the members of the community can’t agree in every single matter and I thank all of you for doing the best you can. I really love your videos and I’ve already talked about it to some friends. Keep up the good work and see you next week!

Hey Inaki, thanks for the continued support. As I mentioned in the video, a technical animator deals with setting up the pipeline, from Maya all the way to Engine. We animators need an easy way to visualize our animations in game, and that's where they can help. They also create rigs and all kinds of tools for us to be able to have a more streamlined workflow. Very glad that you are a Battlefront fan, we've been working hard on rectifying things. Happy that you like where things are headed. And I hear your feedback, we do pay attention to these types of comments and then on our end we prioritize things. ;) Thanks a million for spreading the word about my videos with your friends....means a lot to me.
