for all those commentors are no help whatsoever Jack thanks for these videos. You are an abundance of knowledge in roofing. Jack did state. If you don’t have any spare tiles of course the proper way of fixing this is to replace the tile itself, but this solution will keep the water out.

Excellent video. I've been using liquid nails for these types of repairs and didn't know about putting silicon between the tile laps!

I used liquid nails once for a tile - after a few years of expansion and contraction I've hand liquid nails develop micro cracks, and let water seep in. Silicon stands up much better.

Great video, I'm sure replacing tiles are worthwhile compared to repairing, but when on a budget, sealing both the tile and the watercourse with weatherproof silicone is an excellent solution and I appreciate this video.

I have repaired many tiles onmy roof this way, I wire brush both edges then apply a bead of roof and gutter silicone. Then press them together and support them till the silicone has cured. They are nearly as strong as an unbroken tile.

A great way to do a temporary repair, but insurance companies do not consider this a permanent repair and would not proceed with any other roof leak resulting damage repairs until the tile has been replaced.

silicon does breakdown overtime, heat and pressure!

Silicon and UV sunlight aren't compatible. Use something like 11fc sika sealant or any other sealant that can withstand UV rays. I would also acrylic and bandage over to be safe. Be safe up there

Repairs done this way with silicone will last for decades. The silicone does not break down. I have tiles on my roof that I have repaired , I guess 20 years ago that are as strong now as when i originally fixed them.

🙄 Boral big hump. Absolute pain in the arse of a tile. We've had nothing but trouble with these shit tiles. Turn out I'm a better roofer than most of the licensed roofers here in QLD......!! Nobody knows what they are talking about Except this guy 😂👍 Thanks for the tips & advice as I've successfully replaced most of my roof myself when the insurance people said it couldn't be done. We changed insurance after all this nonsense

I don't get this, roofing tiles are of a standard size and inexpensive if you only need a few the only reason I can think of regards to this type of repair is keeping bodge and scarper me in work!

Nooo please dont do this dodgy shit, you can actually buy crack fix mortar thats used in k bolting and engineering applications and rejoing the tile, but its just as cheap to buy a new tile, probably cheaper to do that to be honest. And sealing the crack ffs youd have to seal every other tile above it and around as water will run down.

to anyone watcbing this DO NOT DO THIS it does not work i replace tiles like this once a week call your roofer and they will put a full tile in problem solved do not trust or pay anyone who silicones tiles
