My ex was like that. If I wasn't always busy, busy, busy, I was worthless. Now that I'm single I have time to bake bread and crochet. As someone who is chronically ill and unable to work, I am forced to live a life with a lot of lack: lack of clothes and proper shoes, lack of things for the house, lack of a lot of things that would make life easier. But it has also made me realize that I need very little to be happy. While I do enjoy beautiful things, they are only things, at the end of the day. I don't NEED them. What I do need, is food, shelter, a clean house (for the sake of my mental health), and being around loved ones and nature. That may sound cliche to some, but it really is so true. I could be happy anywhere, in any building, anywhere in the world, as long as I have nature, animals, my own intuition, and my fiancé. That is a very reassuring feeling, and it makes life very grand, in all its simplicity. Sending love from the south of Sweden. Thank you for your wise words and the reminder that at the end of the day, most of us have everything we need. ❤ PS. As if the universe wanted to tell me i am right in my thoughts; while I was watching your video my fiance was gluing the soles back onto my winter boots that had broken. I will buy a new pair next week, but for now, these will do just fine.

I became chronically ill with Long Covid 2 years ago. It’s been difficult to go from a two income household to just one (I had to give up my job). The “silver lining” of my story is that I’ve become really aware of what I need and what I can live without. I’ve always been mindful of consumer culture, but I think I’ve become even more intentional with my spending. And, I’ve learned to appreciate the things I do have even more 😊
@agirlnamedsaskiaАй бұрын
Sanna, I’ve always been interested in the “old” ways of doing things, especially in northern climates. In northern Canada they use a contraption called a “Jigger” to feed gill nets under the ice. I’m wondering if this is what is used in Finland too? It’s really cool how they work! I’ll attach a link to give you an idea of what I’m talking about 🙂 waves-vagues.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/library-bibliotheque/35890.pdf

I am in the process of learning this now. Having to learn to let go of things due to the restrictions of chronic illness. Not a bad lesson to learn…although under other circumstances would have been better…but the question is, would I have learned the lesson if life had not thrown that curve ball? ❤

Sanna, what a beautiful video!! My heart is deeply touched. The Bible says, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” And this is a lesson I believe my Loving Creator is teaching me. I have spent most of my life in a driven, Type A, hustle and do lots of things life. The last couple of years, life has slowed tremendously. I am realizing all I missed as I sped through life. I thought I was being hard-working and noble in my “pursuits”. But I am learning, while there is nothing wrong with hard work, I kept a pace and pursued so many worthless goals that did not produce contentment. I am learning to listen to and learn from my Heavenly Father, who created me and so much beauty around me and loves me so deeply, and I am learning I have to be still and quiet to hear His voice well and to see it all with more than just my eyes. In so doing, my heart becomes full in a way it never has in all my past pursuits. I have much to learn of the priceless value of true inner contentment. Thank you for being such an encouragement to this 56 year old heart that is having to re-learn a better way to live.❤

God wants us to rest in the safety of His love, like little chicks hiding under their mother's wings. He is so good. All good things come from Him, not by our ability to wrestle it out of life by our strife. God bless you, and may you know Him and His love for you. ❤ ❤

I hope it makes you feel even better about yourself to know that I am the same way!!! Yesterday at work everyone was talking about their weekend and oh my goodness, it was exhausting just hearing about the "hummingbirds" fluttering all over the place in only 2 days. When it came it my turn I was like " Well, I........spent time with my dogs, baked and read books a lot" lol I simply cannot keep up with the hustle culture, when I've had no choice but to have a busy couple of weeks of constant go, go, go, I get physically ill and the only cure is slowing down and time at home!

Well made clothes and shoes are very important and I do not mind paying for the quality that ensures longevity. I have had many similar thoughts and feelings you describe in this video. Throughout my life, if I was too busy, I would break down into tears. I’ve had people say, in my vicinity, that they hate people who are lazy and don’t have any ambition. It made me feel just that way. Now in this aging body, I am realizing bit by bit that we are not all made for greatness. There are quite a few of us that want to slow down this life to relish it, to appreciate it instead just blowing through it. When I became born again in Christ, then I felt I had made to most important connection one can have. Then I felt complete. After awhile, I was able to the shed guilt of not achieving great things. I was able to let go of my own hate for people that judge me so harshly. I was able to stay calm in stressful situations like when my daughter died a week after turning 16. I found beauty in the silence, in the quiet meditations in my heart while thinking of this amazing place with Amazing Grace. May God keep you in comfort and peace. Also, the music you chose for the Northern Light display was wonderful. It complimented it so well it brought tears to my eyes.

❤️✝️🙏 our bodies were not made for stress ... They are built for peace. I think that's why our bodies break down under prolonged stress. Plus, business brings out the worst in people (quick to anger or annoyance, competitiveness, jealousy, road rage, aggression, etc...). But the fruits of the Spirit are peace, joy, gentleness, forbearance... I personally find that peace in Jesus, too. 😊. Thanks for sharing your comment!

I left my Christmas decorations and my home and never got back -at least until today- So I remember my first Christmas being poor and in a small apartment without having anything similar to my old lifestyle. I bought a duck, a bottle of red wine, a cake, a few candles and a dress from Zara. I wore my pearl earrings that my father gifted me when I was 12 years old, and most important..... I was sooooo happy celebrating Christmas only with my family and my loved ones ❤️ Money is NOT everything.

Montana had an extensive Finnish community presence in the 50s. Gteat Grandmother Marie Laituri Suokko lived in the mining town of Sand Coulee behind the company store in a shack embedded in a steep hill. She spoke little English but her little house was spotless. When I was with the family gatherings there, no English was spoken. Coffee and sweets were in abundance along with some laughter in between cups of coffee. She had a wood stove, too. Your videos make my Suomi feelings so strong, as you describe yours. Mukavaa joulun odotusta teille lappiin!

Hello fellow Idahoan! I live in Meridian. Now that I’m retired, I can relish in the quiet solitude and not be concerned with everyone’s opinion if I am busy enough! I often felt completely overwhelmed while working with special needs children. People put the same expectations on them that they are Not Able to do! It seemed so ridiculous that I finally said enough is enough and retired so that I wouldn’t become bitter. Instead of the school district focusing on teaching each student with loving care, they were always too concerned with achievements and test scores. Some of our students could barely walk or talk, but expected to take tests along with the general population. Quite often, they would end up in tears, or trash the classroom out of frustration. I don’t blame them. I pray they will find peace like Sanna has.

I like staying busy, but only if it is things I enjoy. I am relaxed doing handyman work, car maintenance, photography or other physical tasks that connect activity with problem solving. To be simply idle… that is tough for me. But in my youth, I could sit in a pasture or highland and be motionless observing small wildlife and carefully tracing the veins in a leaf all afternoon and be very in tune and still. And even now, I long for the absolutely god-like peace that fills my soul when I stand under trees with the wind passing through them. There is no other sound as enriching as that for me. Yet… even after a half hour of that, anxiety begins to knock at my door. I don’t know how, when or why I changed.

I survived the nightmare of their irreasonable accusations, which just came from theirs fears. I'm very happy with myself. I'm thankful for all the things I learned and my rich life, though it was and it is not always so easy! Love, Veronica

Hello! I wanted to greet you from Argentina, and tell you that although I have been following your videos for quite some time, I found this last one particularly beautiful, full of spirituality and wisdom. I feel that what you say is really true and that it is beautiful and healthy to rediscover that way of life. Thank you for sharing so much beauty, with such simplicity and harmony. Hopefully there will be more and more of us who can appreciate those little things that give true meaning to life. I used a translator to write this message in English, so I hope it can be understood clearly. A hug from the other end of the world 🌻💗

Dear Sanna, thank you each and every courageous filming.... thank you from the Central California Coast ... often as busy as a larger metropolis.... and, you're not babbling at all..... love the details of your observations and experiences... this is what creates a sense of sharing the moments.... do you know Pico Iyer... well loved travel writer... it's precisely his fearlessness to recount the step by step nuances of moments which are woven into treasured memories...... xoxo from California. Peaceful Christmas *

So good to see your calm and peaceful world… great vlog 👍. In life, I too believe such small quiet and loving moments are much more important than the hustle culture of city life...
