How to enable extended ambient interior lighting Audi MMI 2G (A4 A5 A6 A8 Q7)

Activate extended interior lighting (background ambient light) in Audi MMI 2G (Multi Media Interface) in A4, A5, A6, A8 and Q7 cars. This feature gives you control of the footwell backlight intensity.
You don't need diagnostic tools like VCDS, VAG-COM or VAS to activate this feature. All you need is access the hidden menu.
MMI 2G can be found in:
-Audi A4 B8,
-Audi A5,
-Audi A6 C6,
-Audi A8 D3,
-Audi Q7 4L.

Does it only work on constant ignition? Or could it be coded so that the footwell light only comes on when the dimmer is on.

hi; how can i make to auto turn off in the day time? because i have also the ambient light in door neons/cob and they stay all the time as long i'm in the car i seen. I can seet it to : city, highway, cocpit, and rear but this is where i want the light to be active. i have some kind of option in vcds of in green menu to seet it up? thanks in advance

People with A8 D3. If you are having trouble with this. You need vcds and You have to add +128 to your roof module code to get it working. (You will fool the module to think that it has the ambient light switch button. Even tho it does not.)

Podobny problem jak u kolegi Perikles. W moim A8 D3 z 2004 roku wejde w opcje Background lighting and nie moge nic zmienic. W momencie zmiany strzalka sama wraca do pozycji poczatkowej. Czy pozostaje tylko wymiana modulu komfort?

hi-does this work in all B8s? i have MY 09 and green screen active. i followed direct exactly but upon return to car menu Bckgrd light is still greyed out..meaning i cannot select it to change brightness. maybe some B8s don't support this mod? TIA,

Some might need activation with diagnostic tool. And some basic versions does not support this feature at all...

'16 Q7 might be problematic since most likely it requires different kind of diagnostic interface (HEX-NET instead of previous HEX-CAN).

Check if the menu is not locked by dealer. You will need diagnostic interface to unlock it. Also make sure that you are pressing the buttons in correct order.

There need diagnostic cable for VW ,Audi... and have to know what to do! If you are not familiar with that get some guy who will help.

GPS and Bluetooth are optional equipment in A6 C6. Please check if you have navigation and phone modules installed first.

Can change the stereo to after market stereo and have everything with the aftermarket stereo

Can't it in A6 C6. MMI is not only stereo but also controls air suspension, DRLs, Audi Drive Select and much more.

We tested on a4 b8 but for some reason didn't worked. Must try more. But we got aux , USB port to work because it didn't get cd changer.
