Every two weeks I make a large pot of soup. No salt, no sugar, no oil. I put 3 bell peppers and one of my homegrown hot peppers into my Nutribullet and liquefy it. Add that to the soup and it adds a TREMENDOUS amount of flavor.

Sounds delicious

LoL I have been so skimpy with my seasoning in the past. I was always afraid of over seasoning and now I’m like, just dump that shit on there 😂

I don't feel so weird about adding so much seasoning to my food now! My sautéed veggies, my salads. My sister is always asking me "why do you go through your seasonings so fast?!

WYW videos are the most professional out there! Simple nonsensical information that helps to keep us all on track!! And you provide so much information and recipes for free! Not sure how you do it, but I appreciate it. Being part of the WYW community gives me the support and the tools I need to live a healthy WFPB lifestyle! Thank you all so much!!

Your point is well made with the 3 "poisonous" things in our food. Michael Moss wrote a book called salt, sugar, fat. He goes into great detail on how devious large companies are And how they all promote such things. I agree, after changing from the standard American diet, this way of eating with SOS free as much as possible makes everything taste better.

Another useful video guys, it's so different to eat wfpb and a major change for most of us, that spelling it out clearly like this is such a helpful thing that you do. I liked your suggestion about making favourite flavours. I've always liked chinese red bean buns, so I made some red bean paste wfpb style, (blended cooked adzuki beans with thick date paste and added a dot of black strap molasses) and it tasted quite similar, to me. I haven't figured a whole food version of the bun part yet, but the red bean paste brings back that favourite taste. Keep inspiring us all with your ideas and enthusiasm, it sure works.

Years ago Dr. Sanjay Gupta (cnn) did a piece on eating healthy. It was basically the plant based plan. I think he was talking about heart problems then, but basically said that everyone should adopt a similar plan. It has been shown several times since, but never gets the attention it should. It must be on KZbin by now. I always wonder why more people don't get all excited over it.

I have an abundance of apples and rhubarb at the moment from the garden... cooked without sugar... it's as sweet as anything to me, but my sis thinks it's sour.... Lemon and hot water is sweet to me.... sour to others... I stopped using sugar years ago mainly because I don't like the taste.... same with salt.. when people make food for me it's nearly always too salty.

I've been sos free for a few weeks now, thanks to you guys. I travelled to South-East Asia for a few years a while ago and noticed I was much thinner then than I am now. Only now do I realise people in that part of the world do not eat much salt even when you dine out every day. Amazing!

I think trying more spices was just the advice I needed! Sometimes my dishes are missing a little ooomph, and I want to reach for salt, I’m going to try to instead adding cayenne, cumin, or your Voodoo mix which I love…

Lots of great ideas! I think my problem to adjust my taste buds to less salt in particular is that I am from Denmark and I have grown up with eating rye bread, which I love, but all bread in the store has iodized salt added by law, and I don’t like baking my own bread, so it’s hard to avoid the salt there. Also hummus and other vegan toppings usually also have salt. In order to avoid salt, I would have to bake my own bread and make my own hummus, which is not realistic in my lifestyle. Also my boyfriend love fatty and salty foods like chips and cheese, and are not interested in health like I am, so it would be hard for me to convince him to go oil and salt free when we make dinner. Any tips to live SOS free, when you don’t have a health-conscious partner and don’t want to control their eating and also if you don’t have time to cook other than dinner?

The date powder is a game changer! One of the best things I’ve purchased to “help” with my WFPB lifestyle. I use it in my tea, my matcha latte and if I have a little coffee, in that. For me, it smooths the taste out on whatever I’m drinking. I use a very small amount. Doesn’t make them sugary sweet. It’s just wonderful. Can’t recommend it enough. I have not used it to bake with yet.

Many years ago the company we worked for did a health survey of their staff in conjunction with the local university. My husband didn’t score well, showing high cholesterol levels. I found a Pritikin diet recipe book and changed our already vegetarian diet using the Pritikin methods which eliminates salt from the diet. Within four months my husband’s cholesterol levels where down to normal and I have never used salt in cooking since. But any processed hummus or tinned items we may try always taste incredibly salty to us, so salty it is all we seem to taste.

I’m a runner and biker, I can’t omit salt completely because of all the activity I do lol I also eat Gu’s (syrupy sugar packets) to replenish my carbohydrate stores in my muscles, it has to be easily digestible and fast absorbing, the only good use for processed sugar lol only use them after every hour of activity or every half hour if it’s 5 million degrees outside haha
