The best way to get carbon, that I have found, is to set up an industrial gas collection farm. Oxygen refines into carbon. This will give you an unlimited carbon supply and save you having to use your tool on plants.

One thing I noticed was that you CAN build mineral/gas/power extractors on top of prefab foundation platforms. Slabs work too. What doesn't work is simple flooring pieces, which is what the wood/metal/concrete bits are. Thanks for the vid!

Didn't know about the crystal carbon, was using the oxygen+condensed carbon mix instead. It also gives you a net positive output in terms of carbon. What you should insist upon is the ferrite dust cycle though. From one ferrite dust you can get 24 ferrite dust with a few transformations, on order to build all the metal plates required for the storage and extractors. Here's the cycle: 1 ferrite dust + Emeril: 3 magnetized ferrite (using indium it gives you 4) 3 Magnetized ferrite to pure ferrite: 6 pure ferrite 6 Pure ferrite+oxygen: 12 rusted metal 12 rusted metal: 24 ferrite dust (32 of you do the whole cycle with indium at the beginning) To keep the cycle going you'll have to mix chromatic metal with Emeril or indium (not activated!), that will give you more Emeril or indium then you put in. You'll also need great quantities of oxygen, so building a small oxygen farm is a good idea as well, or buy it in bulk wherever you can.

I am brand new to game, started a week or so ago. My first time at the Anomaly some random player dropped two full stacks of activated indium into my inventory! Needless to say, that 20,000,000 units gave me a huge start on ship & cobalt flipping. I currently have over 400,000,000 units and had over 12,000 nanites. Found a cute little Exotic that I use for my system warps, got a Capital freighter, and slowly working my way through main quests. You definitely have the best NMS tutorials. Keep up the great work. When you're transferring stuff from your inventories, you can push left and right on the Dpad to change the quick transfer destination, so you don't have to drag things. Just hit right, then Y (triangle for PS4) and you can send it to your exosuit general/cargo tab instead of your ship. Makes management a bit quicker. Personally I hate dragging the stuff.

drop 50 condensed carbon into a small refiner for fuel, pick it up, and you have instant 150 carbon. Fastest method I've found to make carbon quickly.

Easiest way to make money in NMS. Buy (or mine) Cobalt. 20 stacks = 30 million profit per space station. Plus 30 more million if you have a freighter. ( build galactic trade interface). Literally 60 million every 3 minutes. (Market crashing) Of course...you can actually carry 96 stacks in your suit if you so desire. Assuming there isn't a ceiling to the sell quantity, that's 300mil every few minutes. Process can be started with very little cash, takes only a very short time to really get going. Kind of game-breaking imo, but after you make your first billion...

I think they changed the Medium Refinery. I've not had to put mine in a building at all. Another quick way to get extra carbon fairly easy and safe, get one of the stacked planters. You don't put anything in except for the build cost. It has carbon (maybe others... but that's all I've ever got) as soon as you place it. When you pick it up, you get your materials back 100|% rate. Just pop it down again, pull the carbon, repeat.

I actually find it much more convenient to just look for an A or S A.Indium deposit and stuck to solar panels. By the time you can build all this you should have enough funds to just pick up the materials for panels and batteries from traders and avoid grinding for them. Once you have the first few extractors going, any expansion basically pays for itself. I also tend to build way more silos than extractors; unless you constantly empty them, the storage will fill up within a few hours and you essentially waste your insane extraction capacity during the hours you don't empty it. :)

You could always do gas farming as well to make cryo pumps, it takes a bit more footwork to find the sites and set them all up, but you can always do that in the meantime until you find a treasure trove like this.

Right now the best way to make units is to hang around on the anomaly by the nexus. Everyone’s doing the item duplication exploit and part of it is giving something to another player. It’s considered bad form to give a random trash since you’re literally getting whatever you want for free as long as you have at least one so for the most part people are giving high value items out. I’ve personally been giving 20 stacks of drop pod data but now that I’ve got some activated indium I’ve started giving out full 9999 stacks of it worth close to 10 million units just for being near me when I stop by the nexus to dupe upgrade mods or resources

I wish I could show you the activated indium farm I set up. I lucked out with an s-class mineral spot and a c-class power spot pretty close by. It's generating something like 70000+ an hour. I have enough silos to store a little over two hours worth of activated indium. My friends call it the Inter-Galactic Bank of Scott: "All things are possible through Indium." I'm still expanding it.

Find exotic planets with stabilized glitches which only have only one animal type, . I’d recommend going to red greed or blue stars for better chances of exotic worlds. Make sure to claim the nanites above the actual animal upload to make progress on zoology

I have a small modest farm, I only make about 50 mil every 6 hours. I'm solar powered. Just used about 25ish batteries. On top of my s class protections I'm using the c class protection that gives +21 resistance. Is this a worthless addition?

Mine 2 k cobalt, sell at station, crash market, buy back with near -80% price (including all cobalt that was there initially), warp to next system, rinse and repeat. By the 20th warp or so, multiple mil per sell, never worry about money again

You need Carbon and Condensed Carbon for making Carbon Crystals. Since Condensed Carbon is made 2:1 from Carbon you're not actually generating carbon, but rather just getting the carbon back. Jeez, the word "carbon" was used way too often in this post... X-D

That is crazy! Maybe there is some weird glitch with yours specifically. All of them should be used when you are in a storm, depending on the storm type. I wonder if the planet you are on just doesn't register as a hot one.

Don't know how it was when this video was published but the claim regarding being able to warp with your freighter is no longer true - you need special tech to warp to red, green, and blue stars in the freighter.

I heard there is still a lot of bugs with mining right now, hopefully it gets patched soon. I haven't tried mining anything other than activated indium because of the glitches people are talking about, not to mention the ones I have with my own base. I can't change anything at my base at all right now without starting a new setup cause I can't attach or reattach any wires or pipes, so I literally have to make a new setup beside the last starting with a new electromag gen and making new extractors and depots and then wire etc. making it so I have to collect from multiple storage depots because the old ones don't let me attach to the new ones and if I leave the base for more resources or exit the game and start back up nothing is able to be attached to again including all the new stuff. Hi, Jason! I found out in another video that I need a special scanner to find deep deposits. I went to the anomaly to buy it from the multitool guy, but even though I have all the materials he asks for, it's locked so he doesn't let my buy it. Do you happen to know what I have to do to unlock it? Thanks!

Any tips on finding a decent spot, I have been to 6 planets so far and only been able to get c class deposits without power near =C Just wondered if there is anyway to improve my chances?
