Hi can you do a video about dog breeder or how to choose a good breeder. I get really bad allergies and I have been looking for a labradoodle. I am down in Florida and I have called multiple shelters and I can’t find labradoodles. Therefore, I am in the process of looking for a good and responsible breeder.
@ocas14 жыл бұрын
@Natalie Wainwright hi thank u for replying and for the info. I will def do my research on those dogs, I always thought about the labradoodle because I live in an apartment and a small size will fit me best and the fact that a lot of people talk how although is no 100% hypo it is a good dog for people with allergies. The only thing that gets me anxious is finding a reputable breeder. Since I don’t personally know anyone who has gotten a dog from a breeder it makes it a little bit hard to find.

Getting a cavapoo in the next month or so. Always had cats but it's been a lifelong dream to have a pup. I've spent the last year considering it but didn't want to rush it until I knew our working from home would be permanent and we could give a pup the time and attention it needs. We've had it confirmed now, and we are going ahead with it after a full year of research and thinking. These videos are so valuable. I've always been worried about a dog having an indoor accident, but these videos have taught me that it's OK, we have wood floor, easily cleaned, we can keep an eye on the pup all day. As you say, if the pup has an accident, it's our own fault. I feel much better prepared.

My last puppy, who lived to about 19, died from diabetic issues. It was horrible. I had him on insulin twice a day for a year and then he went downhill it was just terrible. I took care of him the last year of his life. Got him when he was about 7 as a severely abused rescue and worked with him for years to gain trust again.....he did a 180 and we had a great life together. I love rescue pets.

How do you introduce raw food to a new puppy on kibble?
@steviebee2274 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rachel, I have to say that we used this approach to feeding with our new 12 week old cocker spaniel puppy. We put him on raw fresh from day one and he is thriving. We also feed him by hand as cockers are food gobblers and it helps slow him down while eating. He has quickly learned to sit and stay calm while we feed him. Its helped to stop him biting our hands during play time too. Besides its been a lovely bonding experience with puppy too. Until what age shall we continue to hand feed him and when will he be ready to eat out the bowl on his own?

Hi, I know you feel that they need a high protein diet but curious how you feel about vegetables and fruits in their diets? Cause I make homemade dog food for my dog but only use 1 type of protein, 1 type of carb, and 2-3 types of vegetables.
@alenamerklova92353 жыл бұрын
well, variety is the key since different kinds of things contain different nutritions. You should feed at least 4 types of protein a month. The same goes for veggies, bones and organs. For example my dogs eats at least 6 types of proteins, 2 types of bones, 5 types of organs and 5 types of vegetables and fruits. We usually use meat - chicken, turkey, beef, venison, lamb, horse, rabbit, pork, salmon, quail, sardines, duck, etc.; bones - rabbit, chicken, turkey, duck; organs - hearts, livers, lungs, kidney, brains, green tripes (mostly from chicken, beef and lamb); vegetables and fruits (salad, carrot, cucumber, strawberry, blueberry, apple, kiwi, spinach, cabbage, brussels sprout, beetroot, celery, pumpkin and many others. Plus I sometimes add eggs, oils, seeds, seaweeds and so on.

Can’t believe you didn’t get an answer!! Probably too late now but for other people who are wondering. Socializing doesn’t necessarily mean being social. Just find a place with things that you want your dog to be socialized to and relax. Let them observe from a distance and reward them for sitting and/or laying down. Also find people who you know are responsible and set up puppy and dog play dates with them.

With or without shells? Sorry I have many questions

I know this video is a bit old so I’m not sure this comment will be read! I have been feeding my dog with beef and veg for the past two years but I have been cooking it: I read about raw meat but there are vets saying dogs can get worms and illnesses from it and as dogs and humans have been living together for hundreds of years I thought it made sense that dogs eat closer to what we eat than to what wolves eat. Anyway she is a 20kg dog, I feed her 100g of beef, 150g of veg and 30g of potatoes twice a day. I also add some salmon oil to her meals every now and then for her joints and bones. I recently got a puppy and read I have to be careful to his diet because he is so young, but I refuse to buy him kibbles as I know they are most carbs, I wanted to check if there is anyone else here feeding their dog fresh food that is not raw please? No hatred towards Raw feeders, I just don’t feel comfortable doing it but I am not judging anyone as long as they feed their doggo ❤

I agree that there are a lot of marketing hot words that are not beneficial to your pet. I studied pet nutrition and want to share a few things I learned. BUT, i support every pet parents decision when deciding on a food. Like Rachel says - you are your pets best advocate. DOGS ARE OMNIVORES: they have teeth for grinding plants, and canines for pulling meat. Their genetics indicate they are scavengers and have flexible metabolisms. Studies on metabolism show they can digest carbs and starches better than their ancestors (high digestibility through higher amylase expression) DOGS have been raised by humans - they do not know what is healthy and not, like a child. They should be forced to eat thier vegetables. Human scraps given in countries with free roaming dogs, are not just meat. My mom grew up in India with a guard dog and they would feel table scraps - rice, meat, veggies, fruits. The same here in the Caribbean. Dogs are not obligate carnivores. What is AAFCO? - ensure pet foods have nutitional adequecy statements. Only give foods that state "complete and balanced" to ensure your pet hits all nutrient requirements. This regulation is important. Many food bags show more marketing than what is necessary. 1) do not feed your pet a grain-free diet. the foods are substituted with legumes, potato, cassava or peas which can create heart issues. Do not go with human diet trends like keto, grain free, organic - these mean little to nothing for your dogs health. 2) carbs get a bad rep. They are not bad. if you dont want your pet to be on vitamin packs-then carb sources like lentils, corn, and grains are a must. How else will they get all essential vitamins? 3) hot spot words for marketing include false/unregulated statements - dont fall for them "organic" (regulatory word for human standards to indicated no GMO, Antibiotics or growth hormones. this is just how the ingredient was grown, and is not regulated and may conflict with animal regulations. "holistic" - no regulatory description, any animal food company can use this word and doesn't describe quality. "human grade" - edible by humans, no relationship to research, expertise or nutritional value 4) home made meals aka Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (homecooked) can be balanced over time but must be overseen by a pet nutritionalist as it misses a lot of essential nutrients 5)raw food - is a controversy. There is good and bad. Overall it is unsupported because it is high risk. Commericial Raw (freeze dried, kibble, premix) or homemade- nutrition cannot be assessed, it is not a complete or balanced diet, and only a few vitamin additives are used. This is the reason they cannot use AAFCO regulated terms. The food is easily digestible due to high fat, high protein content, and can leave the coat very shiny. However, vets do not recommend raw food diets because theres more risks involved. 1) high fat diets = higher prevalence of stomach upset, pancreatitis, and liver issues. 2)bones invoke constipation, tooth fractures, and bowel obstruction 3) beef thyroid tissues are use = higher prevalence of hyperthryoidism in dogs 4) no adequate nutritional anlaysis to support that its good as a main meal source 5) high pathogen contamination if not cooked - salmonella, listeria, ecoli, camplyobacter, and mycobacterium. This is an issue in 30% of raw diets. On study showed that 80% of the raw food was contaminated with Salmonella. Pets shed these bacterial pathogens (1 meal = 1 week) in spit, feces, urine and hair. Humans are susceptible to these pathogens and these diets shouldnt be used with vulnerable (elder, babies, sick) people at home. IF you use raw food - look for processed raw that cook the food without eradicating nutrition. "irradiation" or "high pressure processing". AND be hygienic, and considerate. not everyone is willing to risk a pathogen. inform those closest to you, and pet friends that your dog is on this diet. And also stay on top of info! Raw food companies have a high rate of recalls. If you seek the benefits of a raw diet because your pet has diabetes, or allergies - there are foods geared towards that. Just do your research and look for them.
