TY TY TY TY! I really appreciate, enjoy, and understand your description of the inner experience of focusing, compared with some other videos I have watched on the process, yours appeals to me the most right now and I am going to use it as a tutorial and guide.

Interesting approach. For me practicing IFS (Internal Family Systems) is the most powerful method. As it goes beyond just "listening". It's also about asking yourself: "How do I feel towards this part of me ?" E.g. anger, sadness or fear. Only then the feelings change. That's because they're acknowledged and validated. It's like building a positive and loving "relationship" with your feelings. That way we're neither overwhelmed by them, nor we try to numb them. But, yeah "sitting with" the feelings is difficult for many people (especially trauma survivors who don't know any psychological skills). But it's so important if we truly want to understand ourselves better.

thank you, I'm at the beginning of my journey of 'felt sense'. I will practice however didn't really understand how to 'narrow it down' or how to specifically to 'ask' ?

Narrowing it down means focusing on one thing that's strongly present within you at a given moment. If you're not sure what to choose, you can also experiment, get started with something and then see during or after your focusing if what you picked feels right and if after that anything else is reaching for your attention. Asking means turning towards your felt sense and starting a conversation, wanting to understand - where is this coming from, why etc. ... Hope this helps and lots of success to you with practicing.

Hi maika, I commented one more comment in your latest Facebook post which was "Some change happens even in the mere bodily relief of sensing and touching the trouble in just one definite deep place." I will wait for your reply there. Also thank you for these kind of helpful videos.💐

Yes, I saw it and I replied: From what I understand from what you have written, it sounds like your main issue is insecurity at the moment, not knowing, not being in touch with your inner sense of knowing. We all have an inner sense of knowing, that is something we are born with. An infant knows what it wants and needs, it will automatically start crying when it is hungry. As we grow up, we either learn to get better and better at listening to this inner sense of knowing and feel its signals, or we are taught to disregard it (or a mix of both). When a caretaker emphasizes that the child needs to conform to expectations rather than learn to listen to inner signals, the child never learns how to be authentic, how to know, how to be confident and secure about things. But, we can learn this later in life, too. It takes increasing your awareness of your pattern in the sense, “This is just one possible pattern, it's not what reality is like.” and practicing security, knowing and authenticity by learning to listen within and make room for the answers that come. I hope this makes sense and helps. I talk more about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZTcg5SIgL6fp7c and here kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJmmmJtmqs2toJY All the best to you!
