When I shadow box I try and say in my head, feint, fake, strike, head movement, foot movement. so I remember all the things I can and should be doing while shadow boxing, now to work on doing all that in sparring.

Izzy used to have a dance crew and also had a krumping style of dancing which makes so much sense with his feint style. Krumping is literally feiniting in a dance context lmao

Feints are the highest level of combat. "The threat is greater than the execution", as they say. Someone with amazing feints can win a positional battle without throwing a single attack.

I like to separate feints into 3 categories: Offensive feints: where you show only 5%, 10%, 15%, etc of an attack, useful for setting up another attack or stealing position with threats. Defensive feints: "drawing the shot" is an old school boxing term, where you feint a target that looks appealing, when it's a trap you're ready to spring. Great for setting up counter attacks. Positional feints: going to move one way but moving the other. "Juking" your opponent, breaking their ankles. Great for getting out of corners, stealing positions for opening up an offensive angle, things like that.

Tip I found useful is using a mirror to practice feints - The instant visual feedback helps you figure out what a convincing feint feels/looks like and nail down the muscle memory to pull it out without thinking in sparring.

I might put Volk at number 1 and Izzy at 2. It’s like a fighting game over there at City Kickboxing, using feints and fakes as frame advantage and capitalizing on the recovery .

His feint game is probably the best we’ve seen in mma. I do love that this stick man beat all the Godzilla in the division. And how he’s not tried to protect records. Admiral for a guy at the top. No fragile ego

I would add that a strikes that hurt will make them flinch even more. Because if you hit like a Nerfgun they won't respect your strikes and your feints even less.

Before watching, I would say best distance is just a bit longer than ideal for power. One keeps safer and the opponent can see and fall into the trap; if he does, then one shortens the distance and finishes.

Do you have some advices to NOT fall for feints ? I'm almost always tricked...
@gepagan
@gepagan Жыл бұрын
Feinting itself could become a pattern in the opponent if you’re focused, observant and you roughly figure out what they’re trying to do. From there you can take advantage. Depending on the type of feint, the opponent may put themselves in a bad position very briefly. If you can time it right and punish them, you’ll make them think twice and even feel a bit silly sometimes since you’re reading their bluffs… In general it’s just a chess match so you have to expect feints to always be tricky. Just make sure you’re using them too and level the playing field as much as possible.
