The PVP system is not that great in RDO but let's be honest, it's way better than GTA Online where tryhards kill themselves after they eat one bullet and spam RPGs all the time

I have not played GTA Online for a while but what we did (a few friends and me) when we where playing online was 2 guys on an opressor, 1 guy sniped and I got that futuristic tank. The tank, when the griefer had no opressor available, made them kill themself over and over again before they spawned far enough to leave the lobby. IMO they should put griefers in a lobby together, let see how fun it is for them.

Most griefers I run into are low levels. I never shoot first, always react after and then like you’ve probably done a bunch of times already, I grief them until they leave the server. Low levels stand NO chance against a player with all the ability cards

Well said. :) All of it. I don't fight griefers, I log to another lobby after a few back-and-forths at most. It's not worth it - they're playing a different game than I am. I really don't care about the egos involved - it's mostly funny. Many out there take it as "I win because I got him to log"... but it's not that. It's more like when I stop playing foosball or checker with my 6 year-old nephew because he's being a poor sportsman. That's about it. hahaha I run defensive mode much of the time... I mostly just like practicing free-aim if anyone does come at me in free-roam. :)

I like the free-aim practice and challenge, and just being in it weeds out about 75% of the weirdos for the most part. I don't mind some occasional free-roam PVP and it keeps it at just the right amount for me personally.

I got griefed by tryhards yesterday, all high levels like 150-230, and I destroyed them with a sniper. It was a 1v4 against me. They were terrible and only knew how to use incendiary shotgun rounds. They left the server after around 15 minutes.

It's ok to turn on the defensive mode, but there is enough griefers who will try to gank you even in def mode. I even made some videos about defeating toxic defensive mode griefers in my channel. You can watch it if you want to. And that happens not so seldom like it could seem.

Tell me about it. Got attacked by a 4 man posse high levels while out hunting. Pressen charges, they attacked again and i got a few killes b4 i died. Pressen charges again and parley. But these a-holes didnt quit, the used explosives to knock me of the horse and continue to ride me over. Couldn’t die because of parley. So i went in to in to defensive mode to even the field if they would attack when the parley end. And sure enough they did. Spent all my special ammo on them and the 60 dynamite arrows i got from the twitch prime. Took almost 1 hours b4 they finaly left the session and I could go back to hunting.

If you're not having fun fighting them then just bounce. It's just a game and these players are *looking* for people to fight back, but not fight back quite well enough so they can feel badass. That's fine if that's the weird game they wanna play but I ain't playing. :) Other than that, get good at free-aim in defensive-mode and carry a sniper-rifle and shotgun. Don't wanna waste explosives on this sorta play and once you get some experience in free-aim you won't need to. :)

Do you mean an overall money wipe, or just the glitchers? A lot of people actually work for their money and i doubt they can recognize at this point who did so and who glitched..if they can, they should wipe them clean in my opinion. I don't hate them, but i think it's pathetic. Those people have 20000$+, can buy everything instantly and then cry about no content, no fun, and nothing to work for. RDO has enough content. I play a lot since week 1, except for 2 months, and still don't have all abilities, all the good horses, a saddle for every horse and all weapons. So for me, there's still enough content until the update. And even with everything available, there's still pvp. Don't understand why people play an open world rpg shooter with focus on pvp, if they don't like pvp. Had an encounter with an aggressive posse just a while ago and actually enjoyed the hour long shootout. That's what keeps the tension up. You never know who is around the next corner and what he wants, unlike gtao where everyone on the map is visible and 100% hostile. And has flying bikes with homing launchers...but that's a different story..xD

The other day I was doing a wagon delivery stranger mission, there was a player following me until the counter mission started. I had a rolling block now, so as soon as he raised his gun I pulled a Han Solo and shot first and he goes down. I continue to let the NPC drive the wagon until I see the dude's horse start moving, I shoot it and never see the dude again.

What I do to people who kill me without provocation is “respawn”. I literally just respawn and run to them, over and over until eventually they leave😂 no reaction, never shoot back, just keep running at them. If the NPC lawmen come, I tackle the guy until they get killed by NPCs.

The potent miracle tonic is good, but you will need Ginseng to make it. Instead make Special miracle tonic,(pamphlet can be found in treasure maps) which can be crafted from 3 common herbs. You'll need 6 Burdock root, 6 Yarrow, and 6 of any kind of Currant. It has the same effect as the potent miracle tonic. You can craft 10, and with 20 Potent miracle tonic as well, you'll have 30 tonics, which will last for a while. Never buy, what you can loot or craft yourself!!

I play almost every day and only have to deal with try hard griefers like once a week not counting low level griefers. I dont notice the griefing problem like alot of people claim. Most players I encounter are friendly. Sometimes I want to be grieved by try hards to test my skills and get better and it never happens.

When people tell me that when players glitch money up that it's not going to effect me those are some of the reason I point to as to how it effects normal players. Showdowns are a joke now as there are a ton of players using the same exploits. A couple other things that need to be fixed are that slippery bastard needs to have a delay like S&S, if you free aim me good on you but it's annoying with the SB shotgun spammers on horse back. Likewise PIB needs it's range nerfed, this is coming from a PIB user. The combination of the Springfield, PIB and first person seems to be these tryhards favorite tactic. It takes little to no skill to do this. R* really needs to do money wipes.

This is why I go NO WHERE without being in defensive mode. But as we all know, this is not always enough. Some players are really good at still taking you out. Depending on my mood, I will either just parlay and make tracks, respawn, or, very rarely, fight back. I am still a relatively low rank, 27 at the time of writing this, so it really depends on them and their rank. I try not to get too invested in fighting them, though, I am just not that great at pvp.

I faced a guy lvl186 (me 121). He just kill me 1 shot with Lancaster. I just approach him to auto-aim and get instant headshot with that repeater. I use paint in black, fool me once, winning steak, never without one. It wasn’t like in your video, I just don’t have even time to lock on him. Tried health tonic - the same instant headshot even when I constantly move. Only explosive killed him, but still he also began to use it. And it’s not single time I meet such guys. Really hard.

i get tryhards p often i feel like because im a high level i still remember this one dude who was sorta like a tryhard troll hybrid, he waved at me as i was pulling in to finish a moonshiner mission in van horn. once i was finished i tipped my hat his way, mounted up, and just walked away - figured i take a slow ride around for a bit since i still can't get over how pretty the game is, just enjoy the scenery. i noticed p quickly this dude was following me, and started to ride along side me, and since he was like rank 10 or something i figured maybe he just wanted to chill so he felt safe or something? i've had that with lower levels once or twice idk - my point is is that he wasn't aggressive at all and showed no signs of hostility what so ever, they seemed p cool. all of a sudden he fell back, i turn my camera to look at him and straight up pointed a gun at me and pulled the trigger, but he missed and hit my shoulder. i pulled my rifle out and headshot him, and continued to walk away. I saw him run up on me again, boom - headshot, continued to walk away. this kept happening for a few more times and eventually i got tired of him - turns out i still had some special ammo from a previous offer, so the next time he rolled up i shot his horse with an incendiary round and his horse went up in flames. it didn't die tho, but he did. i saw him dashing to his horse, he saw me still there just staring. he revived his horse and fuckin rode outta there as hard as he could lmao. its rare i shoot back, tho i always keep defensive off just in case. if a griefer kills me i just parley, run back to the spot where i was killed, and go about my day like nothing ever happened and eventually they get bored and leave. i don't really do pvp that much - just not my kinda thing :) but every now and again it is my thing and i grief the griefer.

Once I had a small one horse wagon that I brought to the butchers with a few big pelts on the back, some guy took it and left the lobby. I should have killed the horse to prevent the guy from being able to use the cart. I wasn't gonna use it afterwards anyway. At least now I know. My advice, come up with a few plans to deal with griefers, troll, etc.

Also if I get killed by someone with explosive ammo (I’m only level 67 so I don’t have it) I go to anywhere that forces the fight to be close quarters, and use shotgun with incendiary rounds. I kill them once and go to the nearest safe zone (stranger mission, store etc.) and watch them follow me the whole way. They always come on the mic at that point talking shit salty af :) that’s who I deal with high levels with explosive ammo that I have no real chance against out in the open.

I use defensive mode with dynamite arrows and Carcano. So far, griefers don't stay long. Nothing wrong with using that mode btw. It can be used to destroy a posse. Great way to troll griefers too. The only negative is that you can't shoot first once the other side turns blue again.

From my own experience, that does not work on some occasions, because those idiots use explosive ammunition, mauser guns and attack you in a group, the best thing you can do is A) ask for reinforcements (There is an advantage adjustment) B) Be in parley mode, continue with your things and ignore them (That will bore them and they will leave) C) Simply change session (so you will not give them the satisfaction or attention that social misfits ask loudly)

Defensive mode isn't perfect, but it has worked amazingly for me, in almost every situation. Just the part about forcing them to free aim and taking away their ability to use paint it black on you is enough to even the odds in a lot of situations, as long as you are comfortable in free aim.

Hi PVP Cat. Thanks very much for the great videos and the work you put into them. I started RDO a couple of months ago and have been having a problem with griefers (especially high level). Do you have a video that gives tips on getting easy and more consistent headshots? I have watched some videos and they say Aim/flick up to head/dead eye/ fire. I thought why go into dead eye if your dot is already on the head? It should then just be Aim/flick up to head/fire. Thanks again...

I’m running into more cowards online recently. The ones who take cheap shots and knock your hat off and then kill you and almost immediately switch sessions. They aren’t full on griefers....just annoying players who don’t stick around for a fight. One guy sniped me right after we got out of a fishing competition. I was on the island near Clemens Point that had no coverage and he was hiding out in the trees on the neighboring island. I never got a good look at him.

I feel like an easy way rockstar could deal with this while keeping things realistic (cause people could technically jump you and kill you for no reason in the old west) would be to make griefing simply not worth it. So for example if someone's in defensive mode and you kill them, you're immediately wanted dead or alive and after a certain point if you persist, the army (or Pinkertons maybe) come after you (50+ soldiers, wagons with gattling guns, etc.), sorta like in GTA. It would basically be a death sentence, plus you maintain a high bounty even after you die so it'd hurt your wallet too or you continue to be hunted. Or you respawn in jail and have to pay to get out or serve time, as in you actually have to sit in the jail cell for a week (game time) and force you to go AFK for a bit, lol. Or allow for moderated servers that enforce rules like this. Or just formalize greifing by creating outlaw roles, while subsequently creating lawmen roles so if you're being griefed you can actually report it to lawmen players. You should also have the option to respawn in the nearest town from where you were killed so you can report it. You could really get creative with the lawmem role where if someone reports someone else, you have to go out and investigate. If you arrest someone unjustifiably, there would be some sort of penalty. That way people can't just report others for no reason, they have to be caught in the act. Idk, just some ideas. This game has so much potential I wish rockstar would put more effort into it.

I played red dead online for a few months, but stopped after griefers attacked a friend who came to my camp, I defended my friend and after that they were after me, jumped in from room to room, but they continued to harass me, killed me and as soon as I tried to deliver they were there and either blew up my car or stole it. Think about starting a new character because I really liked the game.

Tip some tonics are free, you just have to pick the right plants to craft them, the recipes for the rest can be purchased at the fence, and they are 100% worth it.

I just started playing again and decided to start my character over for the hell of it......i really regret it, now i get griefed by level 100-200+ players with the cards and i have nearly zero chance to fight back.

i started a second acct and haven't had that happen hardly ever. 90% of the griefers that bother me are level 30 at most or lower. I switch between accounts and don't really notice much of a difference.

@@ded2thaworld963 There are still fights in defensive mode, it's just that the most casual griefers often don't bother so they happen for less often. I love defensive mode. You can leave it at any time and you automatically do if you fire first. If you don't and you take fire you remain in defensive and auto-aim is still disabled for both parties - makes free-aim practice a lot of fun. And there are many, many high-level players out there that are *terrible* at free-aim. The field is quickly leveled. :)

Just play some showdowns to get a good fell for PvP, but note PvP in free roam plays slightly different. Not the mechanics, but the strategy. If you're out numbered, make them fight your fight. Fall back into towns to neutralize their snipers and attack option. Avoid open areas when fighting 4v1,5v1.

Even in defensive they kill you. I think we should be able to lock on in defensive if they started shooting at us first. I just stopped playing because I was being killed by two griefers over and over. They ran me over with wagons and horses and used explosive ammo. I don’t have explosive ammo. They killed my horse also. It’s really not fair we can’t lock on in defensive. I lost 3 hours of perfect pelts plus the ammo I had to use. So tired of it. Makes me not want to play.

I only play in defensive mode, but I use it somewhat offensively as well when I need to. I don't ever bother anyone else, I just play solo and mind my own business. I don't mind helping others out when I can, but damn there are a lot of scumbags who play this game. At least with defensive mode, I force them to come at me in free aim, or not at all. No paint it black garbage either. I don't feel bad about it at all, and I don't feel like it's any kind of a crutch. These losers are set up completely for PVP, and I'm not, I don't even hold 2 long guns at a time, and sometimes I don't have any equipped because I like my damn revolvers. They always come at you in groups too, at least 2 of them for just me by myself, so fuck 'em. Better be able to free aim, because that's the very first thing I made sure to learn.

I have better advice than defensive mode if you are not a money glitching pvp nerd like myself and my friends. Parley. If they break parley using missions etc; leave session. If you are in their recents then close app. Nothing gets to griefers more than losing out on their free kills. Take it from me, I am in a mercenary gang, we often war against griefers and "anti-griefers" (who are really just griefers themselves).

Had a griefer try to lasso me once, they missed their first throw which gave my the opportunity to get in close so I tackled then and proceeded to strangle them. That then gave me time to get on my horse and get the hell out of tumbleweed

So is it possible to "hack" a PS4 or red dead online? We encountered a guy the other day who was so tough hacking was the only thing we came up with. At one point he took 9 shots (7 bolt action and 2 close range shotgun) and didnt die. He was snapping off and chaining headshots while running. Even fire arrows had no effect. So we started taking cover and lassoing/knifing him which worked a few times... so he started popping in and out of defensive mode while still aggroed somehow. He'd literally pop out, headshot all three of us in like a single second, then go back defensive. At one point I hit him upper torso with a full mag of bolt action and he didnt go down.

Whenever me and my friends fight tryhards. I always say let them attack you 1st so than after you can show no mercy. After that we just start killing them and their horses. They usually label us as cheaters because we spam special tonics but I just say "u started it I call it fair game"

He can be hiding out in the trees and have a little view through them. I was hit by a hidden sniper when I was on the northern most island across from Clemens Point. The sniper was on the island over that has the shipwreck. I never got a good look at him, he was well hidden. He first hit my horse while I was skinning a duck which made it freak out and I couldn’t get on it to get off the island. That’s when he killed me. The one who hit me went by the gt of rubytrip and at the time he was lvl 278 and I’m 186.

@@GOMD77 Sometime I do that vs people hiding, somehow, when sniping, you wont lose accuracy and if a small part can be seen, I just show that. Some people get one shot (carcano), some people panic get out, and get shot again (2 shot usually kill people). The one I hate fighing the most are grieffers who camp in trees and somehow are hard to see. You know they're there, they can see you, but you cant. I dont get close, and move my aim in the bush in hope it turn red ;)

Any griefers I've dealt with are usually rank 400 something with the occasional low level . I can handle a griefer or 2 no problem but 3 griefers all at insane ranks when I'm only at rank 50 is a real bitch.

I think shooting another player's horse is unnecessary. Griefers always resort to that first so I make sure I shamelessly light them up with explosive ammo but leave their horses out of it. They didn't do anything to me!

Honestly, as someone who just started who is currently lvl 25 I just activate defensive keep it active. Do nothing to provoke anyone. If someone shoots at me I usually just leave the server. A tip from what I've noticed, check the players if there's way too many people above you either leave the server as it's more likely to happen or don't do anything high risk.

I found a glitch that allows me to use armor in freemode (works) and I just use that to avoid griefers. So long as they don't use explosive rounds I'm fine. I can take 2 explosive rounds before being killed by the third but I'm on the ground so I'm fairly useless
