There’s virtually NO way to do it on 900 bucks a month . YOU must work and then they mess with your benifits

@@Jessica-zl5ed yeah same here just had this same conversation thus morn. It’s a total waste unless you can get a program out of a state… and I’m not about that so I forced myself to work and of course they cut my benefits …which I expected but it’s like they don’t want us to be stable

@@TheuglyTrip yes it’s sad but some have no options I have someone i know who has ssi with a child can’t work the father is not here physically and she tells me she is trying to figure out other plans since that money goes towards bills but it’s still not enough I pray for anyone who has to go through similar 🙏🏼

Buy a nice mobile home with your lump some money in a park with lot rent around 400 that includes the city tax and trash. Water a month 20-25, electric/gas depending on season 90-150, Internet 30, cell phone 50' about 50 to 60 on gas for a payed off vehicle depending on how much you drive a month. I spend 30 because I live alone and don't do much. Basically appointments and everything I need is near buy. Food I'll say about 200 for me a month. I live simple so I don't need to make full course meals every night as I said I live alone. So 900 dollar to live on a check easily. Not putting what I get a month but I have a few bucks left over for just in case something happens money. This how much I live and pay but other people have different situations and eat differently. Good luck out there everyone. Just gotta live very simple and you guys will make it.

Thank you and no problem. I had to figure this out fast because I know disability doesn't pay much and I knew mobile home living is cheap as long as you find the right place and park. I'm from Michigan by the way. @@TheDisabilityDigest

How does SS feel about earning passive income, say from a rental property we may own?

SSA does not care. BUT-disaability does. A second home is considered an asset, which would disqualify you for free medical ONLY. Retirement does not care. Lol The income from a rental property is lower than full time employment, and you can still earn a decent side income without losing anything, because it is based upon "gainful" employment. I think that is now set at about $1,400 a month, meaning anything under it is not considered "gainful".

If I was recently awarded SSI, is it possible to go back and have it changed to full SSDI? I didn't have enough work credits based on the time that I was working, but missing a lot due to severe pain and swelling. So I was working part time at times and full time here and there. If I'd applied earlier I would have had more credits. Can I do something about this?
@88rebar
@88rebar 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've been through the process. As far as I know, there is nothing that can be done. Whether you get SSDI or SSI is based on having enough recent full time work quarters. Of course, that affects your income once you become disabled, with SSI paying less than than SSDI. That's why they tell you to apply for disability as soon as you're eligible i.e, you can't work full time, and not try to work part time hoping that you'll get better. I suggest taking full advantage of all programs for low income such as food stamps, heat assistance, obama phone, housing assistance, etc.

The fact that you CAN "work full time here and there" means that your ability to work full time has not been compromised, which means you do not qualify for Disability to begin with. SSI and SSA are two UNRELATED programs. With Disability you must PROVE disability in court. The program is based on disease and/or injury that compromises your ability to continue to work.
