“Meeting the conscious needs, the ones that we are really readily aware of, doesn’t always meet the deeper needs that lie beneath the surface.” 🤯 Forrest that is so insightful; brilliant video. I have been watching a lot of videos about meeting our own needs but this thought me some new stuff. Awesome! Thank you :D

This is the first of your videos I've found. I recently started trying to reevaluate my life and myself and how I take care of myself, or how I've been overly critical of myself for my entire life and not really trying to meet any of my own needs. This video helped me so much. Also definitely going to find your podcast. So yea thank you for this video!

Great subtle background music & lighting. Loved the mini kaleidoscope of dropin animations etc - really added richness and texture. Could be a bit late at night for me but I found it a little challenging to absorb all the great advice tips. A real gem!

Thank you Forestlove love love and learn so much from yours and your father‘s lecturing Might you have any content discussing disabilities and common themes around that? Not sure exactly what I’m looking for but it would be neat to hear disability used in a example
@ForrestHanson3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nolan, this is a really interesting question. I usually avoid topics where I feel, frankly, that I'm just not particularly knowledgeable. And treating disabilities appropriately, and with the care that topic deserves, would require me to do some real learning. I'd like to be as inclusive as possible with the content I create though, and I'll keep that in mind for the future.

I doubt when you have cptsd induced alexithymia you have the ability to know your needs, let alone advocating for them. Emotional neglect breeds people who are completely disconnected from themselves and can only keep their head above the water and be exhausted all the time because it such hard work with so little pay off /improvement, and also because the natural order of things is that you ironically do not attract the best experiences when in that energy/even attract retraumatising experiences, while the crucial thing you must experience to fully heal from cptsd is the opposite: emotional nourishment.

Why do people still, so many years later, not mention that Maslow's hierarchy of needs has very little evidence to support it? Just because you can draw a neat little pyramid doesn't make it true.

Too concise. Too tightly edited. Slow down the pace, speak more slowly so that there is time to absorb the material.
