Are you going to be covering the differences between a rocker box, a standard sluice, and a fluid bed sluice? Does this include the set up and running of them? I know you use all three devices... Sticking the pressure to ya when you least expect it. haha ... (Just suggesting other video topics really) ... Understood why the break. Take Care Of You... That is most important. Cheers Brother ... Thoughts are with you whilst you're processing. I know this is a rough go (season).

I would like to compliment you on this presentation, I don't think I've seen this approach to a sampling video before and I like it. This is easily one of the best nuts and bolts presentations on how to sample with a pan... ...there are lots of videos on where, but few on how. Most of this information is out there in book format (and on the internet), but that's not the same as seeing it modeled. Thanks for taking the time to go through the motions with an explanation attached to how and why. Your learny bits are good content, and they keep getting better. It's obvious that you put time, effort, and passion into this. In addition to being therapy, I think teaching this seems like a bit of a calling for you. You're good at it! I'm glad you're taking the time. I always learn something, and I enjoy being able to occasionally add to the conversation... ...many don't take the time to respond. I think your editing and cinematography are good too. There are "professional" shows that do worse camera work. I'd like to second the request for a video covering differences between setup and operation of the various sluice types, and some rocker box content too. I have a mat and expanded metal based sluice, a traditional carpet/moss/riffle sluice, and a fluid bed (bazooka sniper). I have my opinion on when to use each, but I've never heard anyone else's. I want to build a rocker box too... ...but I'm not sure if it's worth it, or if I should just use more hose for my highbanker (a small sample unit, battery powered pump, great for fine gold). I'm thinking about making a beach box to work some placer sands... ...ever used one, or any interest? I do have to admit that I loved your comment about never taking a metal pan and a rocker box to the creek at the same time ('cause you'd never leave). I feel the same way about the traditional stuff... ...it's very zen. I'm sorry for the ramble, and I hope that your time off is productive and conducive to healing. Good luck, and take your time. You will be missed while you're taking a break, but getting you right is more important than specks and film. Thanks again.

Thanks mate, this has to be one of the best messages ive got in a while. I was in a former life an archery coach so teaching skills are something I developed through 6,000+ studends of that sport over many years. I like to teach, it makes me feel good that I can pass something on. In the next two episodes I will be showing everything I can about river sluices, from application and set up to pros and cons of each type. The whole point of this season is to show the things I wish I knew and that I know are not out there to read when I first started. Hence creating a video on how to sample, evry man and his dog knows about inside bends and low pressure, no one however mentions layers and gravels.
@jarodphillips12496 жыл бұрын
@@VoGusProspecting I'm glad it was well received. Your experience coaching shows in the consistent drive back to the basics... ...in this, as in so many other things, it's the fundamentals that will make or break you... ...it's easy to watch and like things, but not enough people take time to give feedback. I just wanted to make sure you got some, so you knew that the approach was appreciated. :)
@VoGusProspecting6 жыл бұрын
We are if nothing else a set of fundamental guidelines we lay out for ourselves. Both in life and hobbies. I say guidelines because everyone will adapt these 'rules' to themselves, sometimes it takes a different approach to get someone to have an 'Ah HA' moment. I asked myself, with the tens of thousands of gold videos out there, books, digital media etc why cant people find it? Well this season is about redressing that. I showed what's possible with basic gear to take away peoples blinkers when it comes to buying 'the best' and most expensive, or as I call it 'new gear syndrome. I showed the fundamentals of HOW to find the gold in a low pressure spot, this will stop people from walking away from great gold and set them up for future episodes where I talk sluicing, mining and crevicing.

Ah you bring up an amazing point. Forget how it affects the creek, you only have to think about this. In gold country, especially in areas of massive ground movement like landslides and earthquakes, these events sheer and uncover string reefs and shift soil that has gravels in it to the open light of day. If you see a slip go sample it.

Im learning all the time from your vids. just have to be able to get out there and do it . Night shifts all the time make it hard . But in saying that Myself and a couple mates went out about 4 weeks ago to where there is supposed to be gold in the river, strangest rivers I have ever seen as in the make up. All a medium fine quartz gravel , no bedrock no real obstructions, dug down and no end to the quartz gravel, 3 ft in places . did come across some rocky out crops later as we were about to go which looked promising but thats for the next trip. By the way no gold .

I notice bro your constantly wearing a khafiah and I understand that some folks do realize the outdoor benefits of them and wear them these reasons but I'm seeing what looks like a beautiful Sunnah beard and thinking you might be a part of our Umah and if so please let me know I would love to give you proper greetings take care and may God the one and only guide you and keep you safe my brother in humanity. May there always be color in your pans.
