Got my blade and it is sharp! I look forward to purchasing a couple of your signature knives in the future. Great work, and thanks for all of your helpful tips.

Thank you this was very helpful. I've ordered some of the edge paint you used, this will be my first attempt with a heated edge paint. I also make leatherwork knives but only on a very small scale.

I have pricking irons from Japan just like the ones you showed. The really good ones are a fortune. Could you explain how you sanded/modified these punches to improve their performance.

I've seen someone paint their edges and then use gum trag and a wood burnisher on them after they dried. They actually got a pretty good result this way.. I keep looking for other ways because a fileteuse is quite expensive.

Hiya. I have found that the edge paint tool roller works best with thick edge paint. It splatters when thin.

How long are you waiting for the paint to dry? Are you doing this with paint still somewhat we or after cured already? I use a 5 setting and my paint bubbles

Does uniters give a more of a dye finish compared to some others like Fenice and Vernis which give more of a acrylic/glossy rubber finish?

hi, i have a question, i am trying to find good paint to finish my edges, but i really have difficult time finding so called " edge paint" all i could find was thing called acrylic paint that can be used for all kinds of surfaces including leather, its specifies it has rubbery feel on the surface where its applied and great shine, i was thinking if i can use this kind of paint to finish my edges, thank you

I’d like to try applying leather edge paint to plywood edges. Do you think it would work?

Hi sir, how do you think this lady's technique compares to yours? Do you know what edge paint that is?

Nice one, I've been experimenting with edge paint recently and the tips really help. I think I have been sticking in the one area too long and definitely putting too much paint on. I know what you mean though about making your own cover, haven't made myself anything in such a long time... the order backlog is just too long! haha

Glad you enjoyed the video and yeah its so funny how excited I was to get something for myself :) I think its part of the artisans struggle not finding time to make ourselves something. What paint are you using?

I’ve just started to use edge paint on my products. I have only Uniters and it’s great. Don’t even heat it, just sand little bit. Just wondering if you use the primer too?! It is possible sometimes that the paint is not sticking to the leather and if you have thicker layer of the paint it can fall out. Of course not that easy but it’s frustrating. ✌🏼

I have just started using uniters so I have not tried the primer yet. I think on most leathers designed for edge paint you would not need to. (mainly chrome leathers like Chevre) Using multiple thinner layers of paint has always got me the best results and the times of experimenting in the past with thicker layers I got poor results. On a side note, on leathers that can take a burnished edge (veg tan) I only burnish. Regards Terrick

CHARTERMADE I do mostly use veg tan and used to impregnate Columbus wax and it works great but it’s much more cleanser and luxurious with edge paint! Cheers!

I would absolutely love to see more videos from you. But please you need to do something about the shaky camera and autofocus. Please also remove the background music. Is is possible that you could demonstrate the process is little bit slower and more in detail? thanks

Hello! Chartermade! As ever your technical knowledge of the leather work and ad-hoc tools are amazing, BUT, the accompanying music is rather annoying, it will be very appreciated if you can eliminate it... Thanks and utmost Congratulations...
