Looks like you were using the greys cassette reel and maybe the greys gr10 or gr50 rod? When the fishing is tough I often will give a strike indicator a bash but get met with disapproving looks and comments that I am float fishing......many fisheries also will not let you use them which sucks because on some days retrieving a nymph will see you blank. Great random channel find good stuff

BarryBigPlumsFishing yes you are correct barry, greys gr10 and gts500 reel, great setup for around £120, i use the bung when things are quiet, if bung isnt allowed can also use a fab with plenty of foam. stillwater fly fishing cheers dude. I started out on a gr10 and moved on to the gr50 and now gr70 for my 7 weight heavier rod. The greys line is great you can really do everything on them. I splashed out on a sage method 5 weight this year but for 99 percent of anglers I would recommend the greys range.

The fishing's been terrible down here in Lisburn +andy rollins fishing. I've only had two trout and they've been on the spinner. I'm new to fly fishing and my casting is terrible. I can only upstream nymph on a river. I may just buy some of them bungs. Great video btw.

+andy rollins fishing I hit a small river called the Ravernet. Had one small brownie just over a pound nymphing. The rivers round here are in flood so fishings been tough. If I had of brought the spinning rod I'd have caught a lot more but I'm not a good fly fisher so I force myself to use fly only at least one day every week in the hope of getting better. 115 fish in 2 days is legendary. I could only dream of doing that. When my local put and take places get stocked I usually catch around 10. I've recently moved back to my home town Lisburn from Preston, Lancashire 2yrs ago. I mostly Barbel fished and long trotted for Grayling, Chub and Dace. I've had to learn new methods here in Northern Ireland. I've sussed out the spinning with rapalas and mepps. I've had brown trout up to 8lb ad sea tout up to 5lb on my local river lagan. I just need to learn how to fly fish properly. I'm hoping by May, when the sea trout are starting to run, ill be better at it. Sorry for the long message.

Quick question, what happens to your bung if the fish and fly break off? Shouldn't you have a stop, of sorts, swivel/sinker/tippet ring?

Hi mate, do you use eggs or blobs in summer months also or do you use buzzers in summer? If do use eggs/blobs in summer what colours work best for the warmer months and same for colder months? I'm just starting again after a brief spell 20 years back when I was a late teen so looking for as many tips as I can get😁 Thanks Chris

Never enjoyed fishing the bung, it does produce a lot of fish but the tendency for the fish to swallow the bung is a downside .

Swallow the bung? I've never had a fish hold onto a bung long enough nevermind to break the line and then swallow it! Never deep hooked a fish with it either.

@@Andyrollinsfishing - I don't have a trophy mentality. Used to. I had a big bow mounted 35 years ago, and I regret it, now that I've had time to reflect on it. It's the strike and the tussle that give me the thrill. If I bring a fish up beside me, cool. I admire it and release it without touching if I can. I recently hooked and released a 22" brown on a custom streamer in a small stream and didn't photograph it. Just reached down to twist the hook out. It's a Zen thing, perhaps. Perhaps one day you'll find yourself of the same mind. It's called sportsmanship. Best wishes.
