After replacing the trigger, and the unit still disassembled, the trigger was still in the "pressed" or "pushed in" position and was not popping out. I was concerned that I had done something wrong or that the spring needed to be replaced. Defeated, I put everything back together and when I clicked in the battery, the trigger pops out into the normal position. So putting the battery in engages some mechanism to push the trigger out. Other than that little detail missing, great video! Thanks so much for your efforts!

I think you may need to update your tools list a smidge. I have a Dyson V10, and it needed a T8 screwdriver, not a T10. Unfortunately because of the very small clearances, I could not use my T8 bit on a driver. The local hardware and car parts stores did not carry T8 screwdrivers, so I ended up ordering one from Amazon, a bit of a frustrating experience. Otherwise, your instructions have been spot on...
@antzilla525 Жыл бұрын
Yes, my Dyson V10 animal required a T8 torx as well. Once I got that it worked perfectly. I’d recommend an allen style T8 as well for those hard angles.

Thank you very much for making this video. It's clearly a manufacturer fault if it's happening to so many people and to vacuums that are only used on occasion. 1:20 The white plastic housing was very tight on my V11 and required a lot of force to pry open. Afterwards I saw that there two tabs that hold it together, inserting a flathead screwdriver here should make it easier to open. 2:00 and 2:55 I found that the two wires with flat ends needed a LOT of prying and persuasion to flatten out in order to come out and then also to rehouse it.

Thanks for the video, it was exactly what was wrong with mine. For future viewers, besides super gluing the crack, I took it a step further, I glued a gusset (thin piece of plastic .25x.5 of an inch) to the inside part of the crack. The piece of plastic I used actually came from the super glue packaging.

I wish I would have found your video before buying a new V15. My two-year-old V11 frustratingly, repeatedly, kept shutting off while holding the trigger. I was getting a sore hand vacuuming until it wouldn't run at all. Today I repaired the v11 following your instructions. Thank you so much for a great video! Dyson seems to have designed the trigger poorly, making me wonder how many of these vacuums are retired prematurely for the want of a cheap fix.

Very helpful video, I was able to fix using these steps. There are couple of tips I learned from fixing this 1. Make sure you are using T8 screwdrivers. I used precison set and they were horrible to work with. Because a lot of screws are lodged DEEEEEP inside holes, precision sets didnt have enough grip and too short. 2. Avoid magnetic screwdriver for the same reason, incredibly frustrating and will be useless 3. You can get away with using torque screwdriver by using hexagon head, but not really recommended. 4. Some screws inside around 1:50 can be rusted. I had to use pliers to unscrew them. 5. The wholething took me about 1.5 hours, but I had to hack a lot of ways to get screws out due to not having proper tools. Knce you have every appropriate tools, this should be shorter. 6. A lot of parts are assembled hard, so tou would need to use your force to disassemble them. Just be careful when you do it 7. Just buy triggers off Amazon, sets of 3 costs less than $10 My 2 cents, but this was an amazing video.

A very good instructional video. I’ve never done anything like this before. First time it wouldn’t work so took it apart again and found the little white connector on the printed circuit board had come away. After much head scratching I realised I wasn’t putting it back in the correct way. Managed to get it properly connected and then it worked. Didn’t glue the switch but bought a new one. The switch takes a lot of punishment so it should be a more robust design - that’s a pity as the vacuum works very well.

Great video! Got my Dynos beck up and running within minutes. Didn't have any crazy glue, so I used pieces of straightened paper staplers, and a soldering iron. Gently held the cracked trigger in proper position, placed a the little metal stapler in position so it bridges the crack, and gently pressing down on it with the hot soldering iron. This slightly melts the red plastic of the trigger and embeds the metal stapler into the plastic. working carefully, so as not to change the outer shape and lines of the part - I placed a few staples like this to close the open part of the crack and also the tiny bit where it was still connected, because surely this would now become the weakest point, so I wanted to prevent it from breaking too. One issue I have, is that I am left with tree very long torque screws that I did not see where they go back into the unit. although they clearly did come out from there during my disassembly. Thing works fine now! so maybe over the weekend I'll take it apart again and try to see what those leftover screws are supposed to do.

@philip82c2 жыл бұрын
This got me started but at least for my V11 there were a few key differences. 1) the torx screws needed a t8 head rather than T10 (I lunched a few screwheads discovering this) 2) there's another torx screw attaching the trigger mechanism to the inside of the handle you need to remove before pulling it out. You can actually see it at 1.16 in this video but it never says to remove it (at least not from what I saw, could have missed a step). I nearly broke the battery connectors trying to pull it out without it giving, before I looked up another video that pointed it out. Just a heads up to hopefully avoid someone else having the same issues.
