Liked and subscribed, my man! Thanks for putting this out. I have a Husqvarna 128 LD trimmer and seems the issue was the fuel lines were disintegrated. I dumped the fuel into a container and saw a bunch of little pieces from the line in there and in the empty tank. I ordered a kit that I luckily found on Amazon and I got it today. It works good as new. I cleaned my old carburator and saved the new one. Thanks again!

Mine ran good for about a total of 6 hours. My fix to the bogging down, stalling problem was to tomahawk chop it to the ground, engine first then run it over with the tractor. It still doesn't run, but I dealt with the problem once and for all. Next time I'll buy stihl

Doesn’t matter what brand you buy if you leave gas in it with ethanol or not take care of it or maintain it. Also, you get what you pay for. Don’t expect that a box store trimmer will last forever. It’s worth it nowadays to step to a “pro” model.

Very helpful. Don't forget to clean exhaust screen. That ended up being why mine would bog down and run rough, but the things you did were important and helpful. I also dumped the old fuel and ran straight gas through it for a moment, then added a fuel stabilizer with the fresh mixed fuel to keep Ethanol build up from occurring. Nice dog.

I have a 326-L, bought it in 2003, it worked great for years, finally the fuel line wore through, replaced that and it's run great for another three years now it needs a carb kit. The diaphragms are stiff and the fuel lines are suspect. Also remember to check the fuel filter inside the tank. Good tip on tapering the gas line to feed it through the hole. I'll try that next time.

That 'sand' you found was not sand. It was part of the fuel line that was attached to the fuel filter, which had a line connector in line with the fuel line heading to the carburetor. That line disintegrated, leaving that sand looking stuff in your tank, which gets sucked up into the carb, since the fuel filter is no longer attached. Priming the carb before starting was also sucking this stuff up, and leaving chunks of plastic in the carb filter. My 128cd weed trimmer just dies on me today, and this is exactly what I found inside. After disassembly of the tank I discovered things missing, and about a tablespoon of yellow crystals in the tank. Also found a couple of line connectors in the tank, and could shatter them with my fingers.

I had the same problem. First empty the old fuel and buy some Huqvarna 2 cycle, the green 2 cycle fuel at the Home Depot or Lowe’s. Try that if you’re running well, then awesome! Mine was still running a little off, so I bought some hi and low needle carb adjustment screw drivers ( the screw heads are shaped so a normal driver won’t work) off Amazon and adjusted them. I started from factory settings, which is about 1.25 turns out from closed and went from there. Start the motor up and lean the further screw from the motor first. Keep tightening the Hi screw by half turns until the motor is running very fast at full throttle until it starts to run rough, then back down the screw by a half turn or so. Then adjust the low idle screw by tightening it down quarter turns at a time without squeezing the throttle. You will hear the throttle going up as yo do this. Back it down once you get a good resting idle where it won’t stall after you give it full throttle a few times. Third, there is an idle screw that is below the start sticker instructions and above the two hi low adjustment screws. Turn(tighten) that with a Phillip screw driver until your weedwacker head starts spinning on it own, then back it off until is stops. That’s it! I hope you have success. If not change the fuel lines and clean the carb like the guy did in this video.

Thanks. Very interesting. For those of you using ethanol contaminated fuel...don't. I, on the advice of my dealer, have never used e-fuel in any of my equipment. And just like when I was growing up...before ethanol was added to gas...have never had any gas related issues. I mix the fuel as suggested...run them all summer, put them up for the winter, and pull them out and start them as if they were put up last week. We're lucky here, we have gas stations that sell nonethanol fuel...if you don't...well that leaves you dealing with the expensive quart cans from the big box stores or using e-gas. I'm going on 5 years with non e-gas...and no issues. Just saying. Again, thanks for the video...I sure appreciate guys like you taking the time to demo your repairs.

poor a gallon into a container with a bottom valve, add water then use the valve to remove the water. I'm not 100% sure this removes all of the ethanol.

Ran good for 6 years then started crapping out. The "splices" in the tank are installed in the factory to keep fuel lines from pulling out of tank. I overhauled mine 3x as described and it still would not run right. Bought new carb, still would not run right, so I set it on fire and threw it in a mine hole. Should have bought a Stihl.

I have a Husqvarna 128LD weed eater. About 12 year old. All the lines are falling apart. I just installed a aftermarket carburetor kit with new lines. I finally go the weed eater to start, but it seems to stall when I tilt it. No 100% sure if I need more fuel or my line is too short. However, I came across your video and noticed you have those smaller diameter looking coupler. I had one at the end of my fuel return line. I didn't bother replacing that small nozzle adapter. Could this be causing my Husky weed eater to stall when I tilt it?

@CreativeMechanic

🤔 I think it can only suck air in..... when you prime it and then take cap off you can hear air escape like there’s a small pressure build up. But as the fuel drains it would need to suck air in to maintain equilibrium and prevent the gas tank from concaving

Thanks for the video! I was watching some others and one guy used the fuel line connector on the inside of the tank going out to the filter. I noticed you used two connectors on both the delivery and return but on the outside of the tank. Any special reason for that ?
@CreativeMechanic
@CreativeMechanic 5 жыл бұрын
They were already there. The connections have a smaller diameter than the fuel line so they would affect suction on the feed line and pressure on the return line. It may be negligible but I figured I may as well use them both since mine appeared to come from the factory that way.

the spark plug did not fix the problem completely. It was still hard to start and it stalled. What seems to have fixed it was to turn the all three screws on carb - idle, high-rpm, low-rpm - clockwise until seated. Then turn 1 1/2 turns counterclockwise. I also needed a splined adjustment screw tool from walmart (probably also made in China).

Had a buddy call me up and asked if I could look at his weedeater. I thought sure no big deal an so I asked "what's wrong with it, did you try an fix it already?" He said "idk, man. It jus won't start and if it does it dies when I pull the throttle. I put a new fuel line on the tank cuz dad said it needed a new one" when he brought it over the first thing I looked at was the fuel line. It wasn't down in the tank and when he couldn't get the line to go into the tank he got a drill bit found the one that fit an got the next one up an drilled a new hole. Ended up having to pop in a bigger line and adjusting the carb to take the extra fuel. The S.O.B screams now but it'll run till the fuels gone lol

Good video EXCEPT I wish I would’ve never pulled my fuel lines outta the tank!!! Mine ended not being clogged and are now damn near impossible to reinstall..now I have to buy new lines, finesse them thru and hope for the best..when mine weren’t even bad

I don’t know how my much I saved, but the going rate for me to work on stuff is $50 an hour. For comparison, I’m still $40 cheaper than the local small motor shop.

That decision is directly related to the size of your yard.
@35057

Creative Mechanic yeh the yard is only 6000 sq ft. I’d only need a trimmer, pole saw and maybe the small electric blower for just dusting the driveway off when I’m done. And possibly the electric stain saw for quick infrequent uses. But The yard will be 7500 sq ft to 10k when I get the back yard finished tho. But I still rely on engines for the mowing portion tho. I’m sure I always will.

I permanently fixed my Husqvarna trimmer. I bought a true Commercial grade Maruyama.

Did everything in the video. It ran for about 30 min (still won't run with choke off). Now it won't start again. Do I have to get a special screwdriver to adjust the idling screws or something? Im about ready to trash it and sharpen the scythe.

Bought a brand new Husqvarna 324L and day one it will not stay running . You would think that spending almost 400 bucks on a fricken tool would guarantee it works.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
