Dear Cody ...u just helped a worried 70 year old lady on soc security. I went out to my car and I just happened to have bought myself a new can of trusty WD40 and did what u said. I sprayed the gear shift that buttons been the hardest thing on my thumb all this time. And I sprayed it to see if once I could get it lose that my key that suddenly was getting stuck intermittently for a couple days on my 2003 Malibu. And by Jove it worked!! Now my thumb won’t hurt and the key comes right out!! So a million thank you. Thank you sir. Oh and it’s dark out but I did it right in the driveway as soon as I saw your video. Bless you!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Two people sharing a car to get to work with a teenager to support!! The key was stuck and the lights wouldn't shut off. We were afraid the battery would be drained by morning. THIS WORKED!! I had to try a few times (probably technique)...but the key came out smooth as silk, I shut off the lights and locked up the car for the night!! THANK YOU!!! By the way it is a Chevy Captiva 2013. Best thing is, if it happens again I know what to do. Your video is very clear.

I had my car like this for several minutes and I knew KZbin was the answer lol. WTH! Lol. I started to press the button on my Lincoln and noticed it wasn’t all the way out. I pressed it so quick that it popped out and I was able to take my key out lol. Thanks!! Helpful video man! Who would think the button was the cause of this.

Great Fix for Stuck key. I noticed Your key and it's receptor were somewhat movable. Mine isn't budging, but I'll try the one thing I haven't tried that you showed me. Love your site, it's worth a million!

I had this problem for my 2008 Chevy Cobalt the funny part was I had a drink in the cup holder that was pushing up against the button you were talking about on the shifter and that's what caused my key to not come out of the ignition LOL
