How to fix a "referencing media on the camera" error in Final Cut Pro X

you have to connect the device/chip where you originally imported the media.

I did this with my camera SD card and nothing happens. I have a deadline so it's faster for me to edit the whole thing again than to keep searching online...

** MAY Have The Solution*** It didn't work for me too! I had to delete the files that were pulling from my SD card off fcpx. then create at new folder on my desktop. then open my sd card and copy the videos i needed to my new desktop folder. Then.... clear my trash...Then import the files from my new folder into fcpx like normal. The It seems like a lot of work but it went pretty fast. Hope that helps!

It is 1:43 AM. I just finished editing my very first KZbin video in FCPX and first it crashed and disappeared altogether…but luckily I found a KZbin video to restore the old file. I use iMovie and this worked for me too!!!! I never ever would have thought to delete those corrupted files (I didn't realize that was what the little videocamera sign stood for) and re-upload them. You're a life saver!!! It took me hours to make that video... I would have been so disappointed if I had to remake it lol!

I found the problem clip and tried to reimport. Although it didn't proceed the reimport (didn't show loading, it remained a camera icon). I just replaced the clip by dragging that original file into FCPX and edited that little bit again. This video got me closest to solving my problem. Thank you so much. Really appreciate it!

IMOVIE users open a new library and import the clip from the SD again to the new library after that while in the new library select all the clips you need and chose move clip to library from the file menu and put it back in the original library where you created your event and this will fix the problem just make sure you import to the new library you just created! thank you for sharing, it helped even though I use iMovie!!

I'm searching for a resolution to a very annoying error code I'm battling today, even after restarting the machine and going straight into exporting... It's Error code 12792 - from the only two threads I've found it could be down to a ram issue / timeout while writing to disk. I've been working successfully with this set up for a while now, nothing has changed since the previous exports. I've exported a lot of videos the same way. I've tried restarting the MacBook, writing to a different drive but not joy trying to export two projects. Do you recognize this error? Thanks!

In iMovie, it gives you the same message when you hover the cursor over the camera icon, but there is no option in the file menu to reimport.

for those that may still have an issue: 1. select the clip that is giving you issues (in the library not the timeline), then right-click 2. Press Reaveal proxy media in finder, when you get there and see your clip it should have the error sign that says it is missing, click and delete. 3. select the clip again and press delete. 4. restart fcp hope this worked for you!
