Modern toilets simply do not flush well enough, because they don’t use enough water and there is inadequate pressure. I remember when we had larger cisterns and the flow was much faster. I’m sure this adds to all the blockages.

Wow, thanks for this video. Just moved into my house with an appalling flush and I thought I outdo give it a search on the internet’s and found this vid. First problem you covered was what I was suffering from. Gave the screw a little twiddle -BOOM- perfect flush every time. Thanks.

Great if you have a modern cistern like these. But mine is 24 yrs old , and obsolete. It flushes fine, if you manually raise the 'Handle' to maximum height, then press down. Then it fills, and the handle halts at half-way. You can force it up and down all day, but it won't flush. BUT, In full height position, it will flush every time. WHAT IS WRONG ?

If it’s possible, can we get a video so we can see exactly what is happening and make it a bit easier to help, but my instinct says the siphon is worn, either the spring has lost its “spring” or there is wear in the diaphragm / build up and preventing free movement - guessing the spring isn’t returning the full stroke of the diaphragm hence the handle not returning.

Good video. I have a problem with my flush I was just wondering if you can help me. I have the flush with the ball and the problem is my flush lever, when I try to flush and turn the lever it will not flush. I have to tap the lever a few times untill it goes kinda heavy like the pressure is building up then when I turn the lever again it flushes. How can I fix this problem. Thanks in advance

It sounds like the diaphragm inside the siphon has worn out and needs to be replaced. Either replace the diaphragm or fit a new siphon. I guess the diaphragm is not “two-piece” and cannot be removed without taking the cistern off - so the whole lot will need to come apart, and a new siphon (or diaphragm) will need to be fitted. In doing this then a new donut washer will be required if this is a close coupled suite. Hope this helps.

Hi Paul feedback from our Technical team - hope it helps. It sounds like the bowl is the issue and not the cistern - and I don’t fully understand the statement that the bowl isn’t to a good enough level ? If the cistern is full and it’s flushing fully then the restriction is in the bowl not allowing it to flow all the way around. Make sure the inlet into the pan itself is not blocked or restricted by the end of the thread or anything like that.

The C-link does not just fall off, but has it come off the lifter or the siphon? If it is the lifter then that is very simple - undo the screw holding it onto the lever, then take the lifter off the lever, re-hook the c-link and then put it back onto the lever. If it has come off the siphon piston then I am concerned the piston has been broken, it cannot just come off this, but, in the unlikely event that it has then they need to repeat the above - take the c-link off the lifter, and then put their hand down into the cistern to the bottom of the siphon bell and lift the diaphragm plate up enough to grab hold of the piston, then, re-attach the c-link through the hole in the end of the piston. If there is no hole, then it is broken and they need a new siphon.
