I went in behind the (removed) glove box and pretty much changed it by feel. No need to remove the airbag!

Hey, great video. Can you access the heater core using this method too?
@jackofalltrades93115 жыл бұрын
GREAT Video. I had to do the same thing to my 2007 Grand Marquis. To replace the blender door motor will cost 900.00 and the place could not guarantee they would not break the dash taken it apart. What a joke. I love the car. I guess all cars have there problems.

What are the chances of gettting a long screw driver under the air duck to move the blend door from cold to hot? Is it possible to push the air duck up a bit with a wedge to get enough access to move the lever from cold to hot?
@mikelovstap3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Man its hot here and my 2000 marquis has this very issue im gonna try this out in the morning the car came from Texas i would have thought the ac would have been on there all the time LOL

all you really have to do is, in spring when no longer needing heat, up under the hood, get yourself a 1" hose connector elbow, 2 hose clamps, and remove the hoses from the heater core. Using the elbow connector and 2 hose clamps, put the two ends of the heater hoses together and tighten till no leaks,, You have just bypassed the heater core, and now have ac only.. When cool weather comes and you need heat again, just put the hoses back on the heater core.. Easier than remove any of your dash components

i have the same problem but i been very lucky by just disconnecting the battery, both pos and neg, it seems to work better taking both off. reconnect and ask for temp up or down winter or summer and it works great. it takes a couple times trying it but it seems to let the door default in some broken way but it works. no air bag, no dash trim etc. still got luck in NM

If i push the thingy for ac, will it stay locked in ac or will it snap back to heat after a while with bumps and potholes on the road

Mine actually actuates on starting the car, but it just sets and stays on heat. When it actuated to cool (toward the driver) I simply unplugged it. When the winter comes I will just plug it back up for heat. Thanks for the information.
@stronkvodka7314 жыл бұрын
Wat u mean by unplug it. Taking the plastic slot off so the metal thing isnt pulled or pushed? Pls its mid summer and my actuator just gave out at 176k

UPDATE;I GOT IT,It goes over towards the driver side.I broke off the little plastic piece over the rod.It moved right over.Thanks again this video got me on the right track. I have another question.I can't move mine at all,So the little rod that the actuator sits on and moves,Does it go side to side or forward and back?Because i will be able to reach it through the glove box in the future.So I'm wondering 1 in which ways it moves,and 2 if its ok to just not even have the acuator on it at all?I'll snap it off but leave it plugged in just not sitting where its supposed to be and reach up and flip it in the winter and than again in the summer.Amyone have any thoughts or suggestions.Thanks for the video it did help,my car just isn't cooperating.

...if you get this far, pop the dashboard insert cover, and remove the 4 screws. Remove the nut behind the trim panel on the passenger side under the dash, and the two nuts on the drivers side behind the piece of carpet on the side of the transmission hump. With these removed you can pry the dash board back about 5 inches on the passenger side...wedge blocks of wood between the frame and the dash to hold it open. This should allow you to access two of three screws holding the actuator. The farthest to the left is the hardest but can be loosened with a mini closed end wrench (8mm I think). Not much swing room, so it will take time, but it can be done. The second and closer one comes out easily. With these two removed , pry the blend door actuator up and down until the tab on the rear, and inaccessible connection breaks. Be patient, if white nylon, it will take a while but it will break. Clip the end of the new actuator tab and slide it under the screw you could not remove, being careful to align the actuator arm with the metal door lever. Insert the other two screws and tighten. Plug in the wire feed. Test the unit to confirm you can see motor moving blend door between heat and cool modes. Reassemble. A patient person with basic skill can do the above in 2 hours or less, depending on the size of the their hands. Good luck.

Question for the 08 grand marquis lovers. My AC went out; I changed the blend door actuator & main control module. When I change the settings you can hear a click.. but no AC, no heat or cool. Almost like the blower motor isn’t going on. Any ideas? Any fuses to check? Again.. lol. I am getting error code 25 in the dash.

Listen to your video...??? Push forward for heat...put back for winter??? Little confusing...but still a rigging...put in a $25 part online...Thanks for the info!!
@MarkusWITH_a_k6 жыл бұрын
Donna Hubler thanks for your reply I know its a cheap part but its just a quick fix to get by. You will have to remove the dash to put in a new part and that hard work and costly if you pay someone to do it. Sorry for the confusing language, but once you have located the blend door you just pull the metal rod back for heat and push it forward for AC.

That takes time to fix it right. This is a get by so you can have air or heat and go to work the next day comfortable. The shop will charge you a arm and a leg. You will need help with the dash if you did it by yourself. It's possible though good luck.

How is this video "fixing" the problem? I would rather pull off the dash than leave vise grips hanging onto a switch with the air bag off, with the dash looking like trash. 👎
