How to Fix the PGM-FI / PGM-F1 Dash warning. This video relates to a 2014 model CRV. PGM-FI can relate to various issues as its a generic warning for injection faults but due to my experience most of the time it's glow plug related.

I just want to say thank you. Your assessment was spot on. I've experienced the same problem, and after following your instructions, I've corrected the fault. I've also noticed that the estimated mpg on the dashboard was giving me some weird readings before the fault occurred. In addition, I've also experienced a rough idling of the engine while stationary, followed by a struggle to fire up the engine when the weather is cold. I’m impressed by the fact you actually reply to everyone’s question, so I’ve subbed to your channel 👍. I’m hoping my new glow plugs I’ve just ordered do the trick. One question, when I replace the dead glow plug will the PGMFI warning sign disappear automatic?

👍 thanks for the sub , yeah it should do mate , works most of the time 👌 you could really do with having the codes read just to confirm it is the glow plugs at fault , I have had the odd different cause to this issue but 90% of the time for me it’s been the plugs

I drove over a pothole and the pgm code appeared immediately. It doesn't go away and it's been 3 days now. My performance is 100%. Even my warning light came on. I have the 2.2 Diesel turbo 2009 civic

on my 2011 honda accord i was messing about with my relays a little as i was suspecting one of them was faulty, i unplugged a 20 fuse amp with the engine check light symbol on it and swapped it with another, the pgmfi symbol started showing up on the dash when i flipped then back it was still showing up? any idea what i’ve done wrong and how to fix it?

Earlier this month I had an issue with my engine and traction light being on. So we had a diagnostics done at mavis and and Mechanic said he believed it was mainly a misfire and a spark plug on cylinder number three. After I took it to Midas they did another diagnostics and found out it was error code 83-11 my PCM is malfunctioning, but there was another thing was the PCM (PGM-Fi) Malfunction. Honda dealership said it could be the pcm or even be the oxygen sensor. The engine light is off since my husband and I replaced the spark plug and coil.

Honda accord 2.2 diesel throws up this light and problem with fuel pressure. I've been told fuel filter is quite common!? Hasn't affected the performance yet tho.

yeah there's a few issues that can cause it mate, 1st job would be to read the fault codes 👍

Superb video and just what i think our problem is. Thank you! Question i also have, is that when this fault code came up, the green eco band on the dash doesnt illuminate anymore. Is it fair to assume that when the glowplugs are replaced, that this could fix the issue? Thanks in advance

Yes quite likely , a lot of issues disable the eco mode

Hi I wonder if you can help my Honda Civic 2007 2.2 diesel mk8 .The PGMI relay stayed energies after 3minutes. ride but goes off when I turn the ignition on and off any ideas please !

found this video after searching to see if my Honda could run on this new E10 petrol being rolled out. According to the site it can if it has the HONDA PGM-FI, Honda claims all of their cars from 96 onwards have this. I'm just worried my 06 crv I-vtec doesn't have this thing. nevertheless this was an interesting and educational video!

Same problem here on a 2010 glow plug 3. Took it to a garage replaced all 4 and a week later message came back on... Could that be the Relay ?

Thanks for the comment , possibly the relay but I’d say you may have another fault causing the issue .. you need to get the fault codes read first and I’d say there will be atleast 1 code stored caused the light to come on again 👍👌

Ive got the warning on a 2013 Civic 1.6 Dtec any ideas or possibilities ? Could it be Fuel Filter as well as glow plugs?

Hi , it’s normally relates to engine issues.. have you checked the glowplugs? If the glow plugs are ok next step would be to have it code read, when this fault occurs it will leave an error p code in the engine ecu which will help point you in the right direction 👌

@@diydaly Thanks for the reply. The car is running fine and starts perfect with no hesitation from cold so never thought the glow plugs could be the culprit. Also I scanned it on the OBD and didn't pick any faults with a home scanner. The car also picks up fine and not experienced no problem with the engine so far. I'm planning to change the fuel filter this week with the service and will get them to check the ECU on the scan . It's done 85000 so could be a warning to change the glow plugs we will see

@@diydaly today I go to the dealer so he said he would check, I bought a car at Evra Motors in Dublin, when he reads the code I will write what it is, maybe I can help someone if he is in a similar situation, thank you, I just have a problem with the start / stop, it won't turn off at the traffic light, everything works fine, and the revs and sound, the car starts normally, only the start / stop doesn't work

Hi, i get my car back, the problem was in the glowing plug of the cylinder, one of the 4 did not work properly, they replaced it and now everything is great.

I have got 2.2 honda 2008 after changing the fuel filter come eml with code p0103 code I erased it and pgm code came.

That’s strange p0103 relates to the maf sensor (air flow meter)

Looks like you may have a faulty maf sensor

This fault code can refer to injector failure as well that one is not a cheap fix

Got the PGM-FI light on my Honda Civic 2015 as well. Tried the key resetting trick and it went away for a couple of hours then came back on, did changing the glow plugs help with your issue?

@@thebrightsideofthemoon5829 Hey man, unfortunately not ...I don't want to pay ridiculous prices for a Honda Garage to turn it off. Tried a diagnostic device, it did come up with a code saying it could be the intake manifold, I had planned on giving it a clean/replacing the sensor but then COVID hit and now money is tight as a duck's arse lol. I've passed 2 MOTs and been driving for 2 years with it on without any issues (this would normally be seen as irresponsible, but the damned thing only came on mysteriously after changing the headlamps for an MOT so no concerning issues actually driving). Have you tried a diagnostic device on yours yet?

I’ve never come across any issues with p1030 myself but that codes relates to the fuel heater circuit if that helps you 👍

Thanks for the response..Could that be fuel relay that needs changing? Had the code erased but come back on after starting engine.. car drives ok.. no issues with limp mode or anything like that

@@majhussain1404 personally I wouldn’t thinks it the relay but my next step would be to check the actual data on the diagnostic machine.. ie see what the sensors are reading, check the fuel temp is correct etc.. it may be a faulty sensor

Wonder if you have any idea on the issue I have with the CRV. I've been getting the PGM-FI warning on dash and heaters are no longer throwing out warm air.. The diagnostic shows Fuel Heater circuit malfunction (P1031). Any help will be appreciated:) Thank you

I have a PGM F1 fault that comes on as soon as I turn the ignition to power up dashboard. I’ve scanned for faults on OBD2 and shows there is nothing. Any idea what else this could be?👍

You may need to do a full code scan mate , it can relate to some other items such as air con faults and they may not log in the engine ecu.. I’ve had a ac compressor fault out the light on before

No im afraid it needs to be quite an advanced one, im not 100% sure on a machine to recommend as ive only ever worked with the Bosch or snap on machines.. my best guess would be one of the Delphi units as ive heard they are good for the money. in on the last coast in Lincolnshire mate
