Awesome tutorial. Took me less than 5 mins after I watched your video to do mine. 👍

Thanks for the great video! Fixed the pull cord on my 37772. It still has the electric start, but wanted to make sure I had both starting options useable.

Blower cord broke this morning after 10 inch snowstorm... was dreading having to shovel the driveway! Thanks for the video, this looks super easy to DIY fix!

Thank you very much for this video. It allowed me to fix a friends Toro Power Max 1028 recoil. What I noticed was... how the rope/cord rubs that one side of the hole. I am guessing that this is where the rope/cord starts to wear. I filed the hole to make it a lot smoother... hopefully allowing the rope/cord to last longer. Thank you again... it was so... helpful.

Got my 38840 last year, went to pull start it today (October) to get it ready for the season and the rope broke. Can’t believe that it only lasted a season but oh well. Cheap and easy fix. Thanks for the video.

Mine only lasted for a season too. The new rope I put on seems way stronger. Not sure why the put such a junk rope on from the factory

@@thetoolsman49 By any chance, do you know the thickness of rope you went with? 4 mm?

Hey thanks man for doing this video! I was actually shocked that my cord broke year 2 on first snowstorm but looks like it won't be hard at all! Really appreciate you taking the time to make this video!!

Good luck. This was my second year also. I really like the new cord better.

@@thetoolsman49 I haven't had the need to replace mine yet, but after viewing your video, should not be a problem... Thanks..

It is very easy to replace. I am guessing toro put lock tight on the bolts. That was the hardest part.

Spray nuts/Bolts first with penetrating spray... I have one 10 years old, very reliable!! Luckily after my pull cord broke, right at 3rd job, I used the electric start. Just had to run an extension cord to power. Tried a jump box with 400 watt inverter, that was a NO Go!

Cord broke and pulled out, removed the starter assembly, and noticed the starter spring itself must be broken cuz it's not recoiling. Cannot figure out how to disassemble as there's no nut to remove....wonder if I have to replace the whole assembly.....any ideas? PowerMax 826 le

I don't have the original pull cord for by duo stage Toro snowblower. How long should the cord length be?
@MegaJocko4 жыл бұрын
is there a right or wrong way for the tension on the spring clockwise or counter clockwise. I'm going counter clockwise then putting the string in and letting it recoil. is that right?

Any idea why the cord frayed that way, or as others reported here, broke? Doesn't seem right that should happen in just a year or two. Is there a rough edge in the opening the cord goes through, or somewhere inside? Where did you get the replacement cord, and is it something specific to pull starters or a particular type of generic cord?
@thetoolsman494 жыл бұрын
Not sure why it frayed like that. There was no ruff edges. It broke literally right when I pulled it in the video. I just got a standard cord they sell at the hardware store. They use that cord for all mowers and snowblowers or anything that pull starts. I bought 6 feet for around $5. I feel like the rope I have now is better.

@@thetoolsman49 Interesting. Something to watch for more closely (fraying). I've seen white nylon-braided cords at stores; haven't come across that black with white spiral(?) type. Will be on the lookout to have a length on hand. Thanks

or if it's shredded near the D handle : pull it out HOLD IT cut below the shred, affix the D handle to the end ( make sure to knot it heavily and burn the end of the rope) Buys alittle moe time the stress of the pull happens at the top of the cord ......usually.

I have a Toro 721 R. I've removed the bolts from the pull cord housing but there is something that is retaining the unit from being removed. Any idea of what is holding this unit on the Model 38741, Serial Number 315015738 Toro Power Clear 7821 R/E ?

He never mentioned aligning the notches on the drive element with the prongs on the engine, or dressing the exit hole that tore off the cover to begin with so that it is less like to do it again. General tips, when working outside on a wetish lawn, wear kneepads so you don't have to balance in a crouch. Get & use a magnetic cup for the screws, you stick it to the blower and toss removed bolts in, rather than dropping them onto the lawn where they are a bitch to find.

Well my cord ripped right off so I cannot count the # of rotations.
