great tips Mark! Thanks for the video! One thing I'd add is, in order to really see the vibration profile if using spectrograms for example, it's good to do fairly SLOW 0 to 100% throttle sweeps (10sec or so). That way, we have lots of data across the throttle range with no gaps, which is ideal for spectral analyses, and we can more clearly see the full vibration pattern, which is ideal for looking for MTOs and such

Thank you for a great video. Could you elaborate a bit more on how P-term setting is influencing drone behavior on throttle punches (or link to the video where it is described in more detail)? I have a bit of trouble making drone be stable on sudden throttle punches (nose is dipping or raising from time to time), had a bit of success by increasing antigravity + I a lot, but it doesn't seem to be a proper solution. Just don't get how P is affecting it, as I am not touching any axis, so 'setpoint' should not be changing... so I must be missing some of the key parts here.
@uavtech4 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZXEqGiPhduEeNk P-term pushes the gyro stay on Setpoint whether it is moving or not. I-term too, but over long biases. P-term is the shot stuff like a bobble.

@@uavtech thank you, looks like I was understanding setpoint a bit wrong - as an 'external control input on axis' and it was confusing me, now it makes sense.

Do a 7" tuning video!! 5" is pretty easy to get beautiful footage out of. I want to see the master tune a 7"+, I know you could do a lot better than I.
@uavtech4 жыл бұрын
I don't have a 7" yet. But have helped folks tune them. It is the same process. We just did an 8 blade 7". It was exotic for sure. PIDs nowhere close to defaults.
@RobertLeclercq4 жыл бұрын
@@uavtech The PID tuning is the same process, yes. To get that silky smooth, ABSOLUTELY NO BOBBLE, straight line footage, lots of work needs to be done with other features, such as RC smoothing, and various FF features. Caps all over the place, BLheli32 timing and PWM Freq ect... I'd just be interested to see how easy or not it is for you to give us that 7" + butter. I think I may have finally cracked it with 4.2. 3.5.7 produced silky smooth footage at the expense of warmer motors. 4.0 and 4.1 got the temps down but FF introduced 'bobbles', along with loop time instability with RPM filter I'm sure wasn't helping. 4.2 gives me cool motors and after a bunch of tuning ALMOST no bobbles. I am VERY VERY VERY Picky about my smooth footage, 1 slight bobble and its GARBAGE. Long live 4.2

Hey, I have a problem I can't solve for quite some time now. I have a crystal clear fpv feed until I turn on my radio. Suddenly my osd starts to flicker around and it can get so worse that the picture is nothing but static. My antennas are isolated and and so is my r-xsr and my unify pro 5v. It seems that the radio control link interferes with the video. By moving the antennas of the r-xsr I can sometimes get a good picture by holding it in a position or by taking the r-xsr out of the kwad and hold it above it. But as soon as I put everything back in place the same problem occurs..I'm just desperate at this point because i tried everything I could imagine being the problem

Mark...what's up buddy? Hope you and your family is well during this crazy time. Good to see a video from you buddy. Defaults fly almost perfect on my new build. I'm sure you could make it better than I can but only one issue that I notice. When I punch out and drop throttle to zero I get a bobble...what would most likely cause this? Not enough P on Pitch? or Anti gravity too low?
@uavtech4 жыл бұрын
If a fast bobble, it is P too low on Pitch. If a slowish kind of dip, then that is AG.

Hi Mark, thanks for the video. At minute 3:10 you talk about this issue that has been driving a lot of people crazy (Bob Roogi mentioned this a lot in his videos). I have both Betaflight and Kiss quads. Kiss quads do this same thing too, and Kiss does not have antigravity. I almost 95% got rid of this bobble in the Kiss quad by raising P and D in both pitch and roll axis maintaining the same P/D ratio that default pids have. I still have not been able to eliminate it in my Betaflight quads :( Just wanted to point this out, hope you find it interesting!
@uavtech4 жыл бұрын
Yup, throbbles just needs a Critically Damped tune on Pitch, and then increase PD Gain to fight it back. All these firmware use the same basic math for the PID controller because it is just so basic. 1+1=2 no matter how you slice it. So just to the same thing.

Depends on the power to weight ratio. For a fat boy, i try to be in 40s. For light racer, 20s or 30s. Honestly you want it as high as you can without negative side effects.

@uavtech4 жыл бұрын
See tiny.cc/pidruning You have.to have right, and then turn up PD Gain. Depending on motors and props, you may never get ride of it. Motors hit saturation and can not update rast enough. Of if too much noise, you need too much filtering which causes too much delay.

Could also be a D MIN issue... Raise both pitch and roll D MIN by 5 and see if it improves and if it does adjust from there, if it does not try turning D MIN off completely by putting each value to 0 👍🏻. Good Luck
@uavtech4 жыл бұрын
Could also be a noise filter problem too. That is the trouble with quads. A single symptom could be a number of things. Logging gives insight on which is the true problem. However, if not windy, I would venture it is P is too high. But again, it could just be a vibration issue that the firmware can't overcome, or filter settings are too high. Like Smooth_Ops said, D_min pushes down D-term, which results in a P/D Balancing being pretty high, which is the same as P-gains just being too high. Personally, I would take a log with Gyro_Scaled recorded, make sure it is not a raw vibration or bad fitler settings problem and if those look good, then move on to looking at PIDs. Conversely, you could turn off D_min OR decrease the PD Balance slider in BF to see if that helps too.

Pffff, yeah yeah. Move down the lowpass filters. It is all customizable. Just tuned a 8 prop 7" with this method. The point of this video is how to fly to stress the pid loop to tune it. The vibration issues associated with big props is legit PITA.
